Meet the Galway designer bringing African fashion to Brown Thomas – ‘I want to show the beauty that comes from the continent

For Galway fashion designer Virtue Shine, it all started with a rooftop party in New York.
The Barna-based designer moved to the Big Apple from Ghana in 1987, when she was 16, to live with her mother. 'It's very normal where I'm from that parents will move overseas and work hard and save money to bring their children over. It's the belief that a better education will set us up for life.'
