Tankers on scene as work gets underway to repair burst water pipe
United Utilities tankers are ensuring households in the Smithills area have water after a burst pipe in the area caused taps to run dry or low pressure in the area.
Four water tankers are in the Barrow Bridge area currently, with repairs to the burst water pipe getting underway.

The issue was first reported just before 8.30am.
United Utilities say the burst is on Woodburn Drive.
Due to the location of the burst, traffic management need to be put in place.

Repairs got underway just before 7pm.

In an update, United Utilities posted: "We're happy to confirm that repairs to the burst are underway. Our team still have some work to do to get things back to normal, and are working as quickly as possible to restore all supplies.

"Our team are making progress and our top priority is getting things back to normal.
"Repairs to our network can be harder to fix than we first thought, and take longer than we hoped to complete. We're working as quickly as we can to get taps flowing again."
