BASIN BITES: Straight out of the wood oven

ODESSA, Texas (KMID/KPEJ)—In this week's Basin Bites, we visited Greggor's Pizza, a food truck in Odessa that specializes in wood-oven cooking. Greggor's offers multiple items that are all made in-house and fresh each day, from sauces to dough and even dessert items such as cannolis. When it comes to the pizzas, Greg and his wife Angela specialize in varieties that range from toppings such as brisket, jalapenos, sausage, and the classic pepperoni. Greggor's Pizza, originally known as The Pizza Stone, first started in the Pecos/Fort Stockton area while owner Greg Cook was working for his corporate job. However, when that moved to Odessa, he moved the business here. His wife Angela would homeschool the kids, but once they got older and began attending public school, she brought her prior food service experience to the table. 'We talked about the whole time opening our own little business for years,' says Angela. 'I've always dreamed about opening my own little place with him and and of course, with his experience with cooking and over the fire and whatnot. I think that's what correlates the wood-fired pizza and the wood-fired things that we do. That's what kind of impressed us about this.' You can find Greggor's Pizza on Facebook, where they post their location for the week. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. Elevated brunch, West Texas roots: Brunch and Munch curates class in Odessa

ODESSA, Texas (KMID/KPEJ)- For this week's Basin Bites, we visited Brunch and Munch Eatery and Creperie, an Odessa gem that's just as much about the atmosphere as it is about the food. Known for its vibrant vibes and delicious dishes, Brunch and Munch has been serving the community for more than five years. Owners Dustin and Melissa Burns, both Odessa natives, opened the eatery after living in Dallas. While in the Metroplex, they fell in love with the city's brunch culture, an experience they felt was missing back home. 'When we moved back, we wanted to bring something a little bit different,' said Dustin Burns. 'There wasn't really anything like this here when we first opened. We just wanted to create a space where people could come hang out, bring their friends or family, and have a good time.' Brunch and Munch Eatery and Creperie is located at 818 N County Rd W, Odessa, TX 79763. They're open Wednesday through Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. Brown's BBQ in Midland: A legacy of love and barbecue

MIDLAND, Texas (KMID/KPEJ)- In this week's edition of Basin Bites, we stopped by Brown's BBQ in Midland, a local favorite dishing up some of the best barbecue in the Permian Basin. What started as a humble hustle, selling burritos out of a cooler, has grown into a thriving food truck and, eventually, a brick-and-mortar restaurant. Owner Todd Brown has been running his business for more than two decades, driven by passion, perseverance, and a deeply personal motivation. Brown explained that his 'hustle' came from his dad, who helped guide him when he was younger while the two worked alongside each other during the summer when Todd would visit him in California. Todd said that when he decided to open up his own business, he would do it as a way to pay honor to his late father, and share that same legacy of a hard work ethic and love, for his kids. 'Well, what my dad meant to me is everything,' Brown said. 'You know, as a kid growing up, I had the fortunate ability to be able to go out to California every summer and cook with him and learn some of his secrets and stuff. So he instilled a work ethic in me that is what I hold dear to me today, and I instill in my daughter today and my kids.' Brown's BBQ serves up dishes such as brisket tacos, mac and cheese, ribs, and brisket; a full lineup of comfort food that keeps customers coming back for more. Brown's BBQ is located at 4200 W Illinois Ave, Midland, TX 79703. WATCH: Why you should go visit Brown's BBQ Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
