HC stays eviction of displaced from NTPC project area
Ranchi: The Jharkhand high court on Wednesday clamped a stay on the eviction of displaced villagers from the Pankari Barwadih Coal project site of NTPC Ltd in Hazaribag.
The court of Justice Rajesh Kumar, while hearing a plea filed by land owners Basudev Sao and others, said they should not be forcibly removed from their plots.

The NTPC acquired land of the raiyyats under the Coal Bearing Act and the Land Acquisition Act. But the provisions of the enactments which had to be followed at the time of acquisition has not been complied with, the petitioner's counsel told the court.
The court ordered the NTPC Ltd. to file a reply in the matter.
