A fire on Liberty Street in Bath is under investigation. What to know
The cause of an early morning blaze at 220 Liberty St. in Bath remains under investigation, according to Bath Fire Chief Mike Fiordo.
No one was injured during the fire, which was reported at 4:26 a.m. Aug. 11, and was initially described as a fence burning approximately 5 feet from a residence.
Fiordo was first on scene and discovered the fire had extended to the residence and a nearby vehicle, with flames advancing toward the second floor. A second alarm was immediately requested.
Bath Fire units arrived shortly thereafter and successfully prevented the fire from spreading to the front of the building.

No injuries were reported in the fire, which remains under investigation.
Fiordo said mutual aid and additional manpower were provided by the Bath VA, Hammondsport Fire Department, Kanona Fire Department, Painted Post Fire Department, Bath Ambulance, Steuben County Emergency Services, and the Steuben County Fire Investigation Team.
Bath Police Department, Steuben County Sheriff's Office, and the New York State Police assisted with clearing the building prior to firefighters' arrival, Fiordo said.
