Mrs. Mitchell's Public House holds St. Patrick's Parade fundraiser

HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) – A restaurant in Holyoke held a fundraiser on Saturday for the upcoming St. Patrick's Parade. Mrs. Mitchell's Public House hosted a fundraiser in collaboration with the St. Patrick's Committee of Holyoke, donating 20% of all food orders to the upcoming parade. Who won Holyoke's Battle of the Bars? Families sat down for pancakes and bacon all to support one of the city's largest events. 22News spoke with the President of the Parade Committee, who told us how much the restaurant has supported the cause. 'Orla has been supportive of our crew for many, many years,' said Parade Committee President John Beaulieu. 'With the breakfast she does during Road Race weekend, parade weekend. We really, really appreciate her and her family for stepping up and doing this.' Orla Mitchell opened this location just one year ago, serving Irish classics Tuesday through Sunday. One of the members of this year's Colleen Court described what it meant to bring the community together just before the parade. 'It definitely is a very exciting time and it's great to see so many familiar faces come out and support this one fundraiser for the Parade Committee,' said Abigail Huebner of the Colleen Court. 'And just being a part of it is so great, seeing everybody here.' In just two weeks, 400,000 people will line the city streets to watch floats roll down the streets of Holyoke. While the parade is the main attraction, Holyoke Colleen Court member Erin O'Donnell said there's something else to cherish about March 23. 'I think it's really more of the experience of going to the parade than it is watching the actual parade,' O'Donnell said. 'It's just fun to come together as a city and celebrate our Irish culture.' For those who won't be attending in person, you will be able to watch full coverage of this year's Holyoke St. Patrick's Parade here on 22News. Holyoke bars compete to fund St. Patricks Parade

HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) – As St. Patrick's Day gets closer, so do annual celebrations in the City of Holyoke. Friday night, The St. Patrick`s Committee of Holyoke held their 5th annual Battle of the Bars bartending event at the Holyoke Knight of Columbus; an event to help raise money for parade day.
