The scene of the crash involving three vehicles along Jalan Pan Borneo Bau–Lundu. – Bomba photo KUCHING (June 3): A man was killed in a road accident involving three vehicles at the P-Turn near Kampung Jugan, along Jalan Pan Borneo Bau-Lundu last night (June 2). The incident involved two pickup trucks (a Nissan Navara and a Toyota Hilux) and a compact sedan (Kia Forte), with a total of six individuals involved. According to the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Operations Centre, the deceased was identified as Chang Chun Jie, 26, who was the driver of the compact sedan. 'Upon arrival at the scene, it was found that the accident involved three vehicles. The rescue team extricated the compact sedan driver, who was trapped inside the vehicle, using rescue tools. Rescue personnel working to extricate the victim from the wreckage. – Bomba photo 'The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by a medical officer from the Ministry of Health (MOH) and was later handed over to the police for further action,' the statement read. Three occupants of the Toyota pickup, two adult women and a young girl, sustained minor injuries and were taken to Bau Hospital by an MOH ambulance. An adult male occupant of the same vehicle was unharmed. The driver of the Nissan Navara, an adult male, also suffered minor injuries and was brought to Bau Hospital by members of the public. The distress call was received at 9.09pm and the operation was concluded at 10.45pm. KUCHING (May 18): Two people were killed in a collision between a hatchback and a pickup truck at Jalan Serikin-Bau near Kampung Bogag in Bau early this morning. Bau district police chief DSP Dr Daram Ruer in a statement confirmed that the deceased were the driver and front passenger of the hatchback. 'Due to the incident, the hatchback driver died while he was on the way to Bau Hospital, while the front- seat passenger died while receiving treatment at the hospital,' he said, adding that the pickup truck driver was uninjured. Daram said police were notified about the incident at 12.05am. 'The incident is believed to have occurred when the hatchback driver, who was travelling straight from Serikin to Bau, lost control of the vehicle and collided with a pickup truck that was heading from Bau to Kampung Bogag,' he added. He said the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, and urged anyone with information about the incident to approach or contact the nearest police station to assist in the investigation.
