Two killed in early morning accident at Jalan Serikin-Bau

KUCHING (May 18): Two people were killed in a collision between a hatchback and a pickup truck at Jalan Serikin-Bau near Kampung Bogag in Bau early this morning.
Bau district police chief DSP Dr Daram Ruer in a statement confirmed that the deceased were the driver and front passenger of the hatchback.
'Due to the incident, the hatchback driver died while he was on the way to Bau Hospital, while the front- seat passenger died while receiving treatment at the hospital,' he said, adding that the pickup truck driver was uninjured.
Daram said police were notified about the incident at 12.05am.
'The incident is believed to have occurred when the hatchback driver, who was travelling straight from Serikin to Bau, lost control of the vehicle and collided with a pickup truck that was heading from Bau to Kampung Bogag,' he added.
He said the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, and urged anyone with information about the incident to approach or contact the nearest police station to assist in the investigation.
Daram advised road users to be careful when driving especially during bad weather.

Policeman killed in motorcycle accident on NSE
IPOH: A police sergeant was killed while on his way home to Kedah after the motorcycle he was riding skidded at Kilometre 253.7 of the North-South Expressway (NSE) northbound near Kuala Kangsar yesterday. He added that the victim was believed to be on holiday and was returning to his home in Alor Setar after visiting friends across the state.
