Sarawak Deputy Transport Minister and Tasik Biru assemblyman, Dato Henry Harry Jinep, the festival promises 11 days of lively events and community spirit, coinciding with the official launch of the Tasik Biru Resort City, a key milestone for the region's development. 'This event represents more than just a celebration as it marks a turning point for the Bau community. By blending cultural heritage with ambitious, forward-looking development, Bau is being positioned as a key destination in Sarawak's growing tourism and economic landscape. 'The event is expected to attract thousands of visitors, both local and international, showcasing Bau's potential as a vibrant and accessible hub,' he told a press conference at Bangunan Baitulmakmur here today. The festival will kick off on May 15 at 10am with an opening ceremony officiated by Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg at the main stage of the new resort city. Visitors can expect a packed programme including the Jong Regatta, the Bau Sports Carnival, E-sports, traditional cooking contests, talent shows, and the popular Miss and Mrs Tasik Biru pageants. A major highlight will be the Unity Parade on May 24, celebrating Bau's multicultural harmony, followed by the Pedestrian Bridge Lighting Ceremony and Fireworks Show, symbolising a bright, united future. Adding to the festivities is the Gawai Bazaar Bau, open daily from 9am to 11pm, featuring local crafts, food, and nightly cultural performances and live music. 'The bazaar will offer an energetic marketplace packed with local products, traditional Sarawakian crafts, and a variety of local delicacies. In the evenings, the main stage will come alive with cultural performances and live busking, offering entertainment for visitors of all ages,' said Henry. Also present at the press conference were Batu Kitang assemblyman Dato Lo Khere Chiang and other local officials. Bau District Henry Harry Jinep Tasik Biru Festival
