Bayfront Maritime Center kicks off community boating season
A bayfront nonprofit is looking to get more people out on the water this summer, starting Tuesday night. The Bayfront Maritime Center on Holland Street kicked off its 2025 community boating season with a series of open house events this week. New Shriners tech will help young athletes safely return to sports following injuries The community boating program offers sailing lessons for people with all levels of experience looking to learn a new skill. The maritime center's president said their idea is to make sailing more accessible without the hassle of going through a marina. Bay and Berry Cafe opens their doors in Peninsula Plaza 'There's people in Erie who have never been to Presque Isle. There's people in Erie who have never been on a boat, and what we can do here with this program is to get people that life experience, get them excited about living in Erie, and really one opf my favorite things and one of the best parts about living in Erie is the bay, so let's enjoy it,' said Vince Nientimp, board president of the Bayfront Maritime Center. Bay and Berry Cafe opens their doors in Peninsula Plaza
A new local restaurant has found a home in the Peninsula Plaza in Millcreek. Bay and Berry Cafe had their opening day on Tuesday at 1101 Peninsula Drive, the former Bob's Steakhouse location. Local farmers fall behind due to wet, cold spring The cafe puts their own spin on all things breakfast and lunch, along with specialty coffees. They also plan to serve cocktails once they have their liquor license. Pool owners stock up on supplies before diving into summer 'We wanted to do more specialty French toasts, latte flights, French toast flights, specialty pancakes along with our avocado toast and stuff like that, and bring some of the bakery aspect into it,' said Alexa Friend, the manager of Bay and Berry. 'It was a very fast turnaround around but it was a lot of work and time, and I'm very excited.' Bay and Berry is open Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc.
