Emotional moment radio guest shares devastating brain cancer news live on air with Carrie Bickmore

Carrie Bickmore had a guest on her Hit Network radio show on Wednesday whose battle hit close to home. The radio queen had Australian of the Year Professor Richard Scolyer on her Carrie & Tommy show, with the esteemed pathologist discussing his brain cancer. The 58-year-old got emotional as he told Carrie that his cancer has spread and that he didn't know how much time he had. 'I haven't given up. There're still opportunities out there,' Scolyer told a moved Carrie. 'That's a reflection of many people - and me included. The fact I'm still alive and the three of us are able to have a conversation gives me some hope.' From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. Scolyer added however that he understands it's a race against time. 'The scan that showed this recurrence was a big deal, and I hadn't had any (scans) for more than a year' he said. '75% of people are dead within a year (of diagnosis), and this was at 18 months… so with that coming up, I just felt a bit different.' It's a very meaningful topic for Carrie, who tragically lost her late husband Greg Lange (right) to brain cancer in 2010 at age 35, after a 10-year battle. She continued his legacy by starting her own charity, Carrie's Beanies 4 Brain Cancer, which she announced during her Gold Logie acceptance speech in 2015. While promoting the charity, Carrie was welcomed back to The Project on Tuesday night in a downpour of confetti. The television and radio star, who quit the Channel Ten show back in 2022, returned to her old stomping ground for a good cause. The 44-year-old was on the desk for a ten minute segment that closed the show - but only as a guest. She was there to celebrate the tear year anniversary of her charity foundation, Carrie's Beanies 4 Brain Cancer, which has raised $24 million for cancer research. Viewers were happy to see her again, with one writing on social media: 'Ah a blast from the past of when The Project was actually good, funny and popular.' Another person watching at home chimed in: 'Just like old times'. Carrie announced her departure from The Project after 12 years on air in October, 2022. She had been absent for a three month 'sabbatical' with her family in London earlier that year, before returning to the panel in July, only to quit in October. Three months after leaving the show, Carrie announced she'd split from her partner of 11 years Chris Walker. 'It's with immense sadness that Chris and I have decided to separate,' she wrote in a statement on Instagram. 'While this is a tough time, our focus is on parenting, loving and supporting our three children Ollie, Evie and Addie with everything that we've got. 'They are doing great. We won't be making any further comment.' Carrie is now the host of the Carrie & Tommy show on the Hit Network alongside Little. Their radio show has dominated the national ratings survey last year.

Carrie Bickmore runs 18 kilometres in previous night's makeup...after turning heads in a stunning ensemble for brain cancer fundraiser

Carrie Bickmore was not resting on her laurels on Saturday, running an impressive 18 kilometres after stepping out to a glittering charity fundraiser. The radio and television presenter, 44, turned heads on Friday night when she stepped out in a stunning ensemble for the glittering charity Brain Ball in Melbourne. On Saturday, Carrie was putting her body through its paces taking on the gruelling run in the pouring rain, in an effort to raise money for her Beanies 4 Brain Cancer Foundation. She shared a video on Saturday that showed her sitting in her car, post run, barely able to speak and still wearing her makeup from the night before. 'I'm a very wet mama who ran...I can't even speak...18.2 kilometres,' Carrie said between gasps. 'I still have the makeup on from last night. A very different look to last night's red carpet ball, she said as she coughed. Carrie added that she set herself a smaller distance goal, but much like Tom Hanks' Forrest Gump, she just kept running. 'I set out to do 15, she said. 'It was pouring with rain - I'm like a drowned rat and I just kept running, like Forrest Gump.' Carrie added that she was inspired to take on the run after sitting next to a brain cancer sufferer at Friday night's Brain Ball. 'I sat next to Sarah Kelly at the ball last night, who you've seen on my Insta before - a beautiful mum battling brain cancer,' Carrie said. 'Gosh she's just divine and I had a renewed sense of purpose as i ran today.' She then asked her 767,000 followers to support her efforts by making a donation to Carrie's Beanies 4 Brain Cancer Foundation. 'So, for that 18ks, could I get you to donate $18?' she asked. '$18 for $18ks.' We're getting there everyone,' she said before another coughing bout, adding: 'That's so annoying, Carrie.' Carrie's followers were quick to comment on the inspirational post, including Sarah, who Carrie mentioned in the clip. 'I loved hanging out with you last night!' Sarah wrote. 'You are such a trooper getting out in this weather and going even further than you planned. And thank you to anyone who is getting behind Carrie with $18! (Maybe someone has $18k for 18k?' Another offered: 'Amazing. 18km with makeup from the night before is iconic,' while a third chimed in with a similar: 'You are the best human with the biggest heart.' Carrie took to Instagram on Friday to share her stunning ensemble for the Brain Ball which was sure to turn more than a few heads. She exuded an air of Hollywood glamour in an eye-catching $6900 sequin beaded gown. The gorgeous outfit was from Melbourne based designer Toni Maticevski featured a figure-hugging black bodice. The dark sequined skirt, meanwhile featured a glittering silver bow embellishment on the waist and a thig-high split, flaunting Carrie's trim pins. She matched the glittering gown with a pair of plain white Jimmy Choo heels. 'A little glam, a big cause - Maticevski moments in support of brain cancer research,' she captioned the images. It comes after Carrie revealed she will be heading to the South African jungle for this year's The Big Five Marathon through the Entabeni private game reserve. She told Confidential this week, the big five African animals 'will make me run fast, that is for sure'. 'Last year they had to delay the start of the race because there was a lion roaming around. I've decided not to read up too much about it because I've decided if I read about it, I won't go,' she said. 'I'm just going to go there with my eyes closed and open them at the start line and see what happens.' The former Project star will be completing her half-marathon alongside Ellidy Pullin, Olivia Molly Rogers, Sam Wood, Laura Enever, Trent Cotchin, and Merrick Watts. Carrie and her crew of famous friends will attempt to raise money for the Carrie's Beanies 4 Brain Cancer Foundation, which she set up after her late husband, Greg Lange, lost his battle with brain cancer. Carrie announced she would continue Greg's legacy with the charity during her Gold Logie acceptance speech in 2015. Despite his terminal condition, Carrie and Greg married in 2005 when she was just 25 and had a son, Oliver.

Tommy Little fuels romance rumours with Hit Network co-star Carrie Bickmore after making major lifestyle change for her cause

Tommy Little has continued to fuel romance rumours with his Hit Network co-cost Carrie Bickmore after he made major lifestyle changes for her. On Sunday, the 40-year-old comedian took to Instagram to announce he quit vaping and plans to lose 10kgs ahead of The Big Five Marathon in South Africa for Bickmore's Beanies 4 Brain Cancer charity on June 14. Little joked he ran 13.3 km but not quickly because he was a 'doughy boy" as he prepared for the feat in his home city of Melbourne. 'We are seven weeks out from The Big Five Marathon in South Africa. I just ran 13.3 km. Not quick because I am a doughy boy,' the radio star said in a video. 'I weighed myself this week. I weigh 86kg, which might not sound like that much, but the only time I ran a marathon, I weighed 70kg. So I am 16kg over my previous running weight. 'I'm trying the best I can. I don't think I'm going to be breaking any PBs (personal best), but I've quit vaping for the 42nd time this week. I did three runs. A couple sessions in the gym.' In the caption, Little said he was doing his best to raise money for Bickmore's cause and encouraged his 300,000 followers to donate. 'I plan to lose at least 10kgs and work my ass off for the next 7 weeks, anyone who wants to get involved is more than welcome,' he said. Bickmore encouraged her co-star in the comments, which ignited his banter-fuelled response. 'Yes, Tommy!!!!! Yes!!!! You got this,' she said 'You're stoned again, aren't you?' Little said with a love heart emoji. The co-stars have fanned romance rumours since Bickmore split from her second husband, Chris Walker, in January 2023. The pair were together for more than a decade and share two daughters, Evie and Adelaide. Carrie also has a son Oliver from her first relationship with Greg Lange, who died of brain cancer in 2010. She and Little's infamous flirty on-air rapport gained attention, and the speculation they are an item hasn't relented. Little addressed the gossip directly at The Roast of Carrie Bickmore during the Melbourne Comedy Festival in March. "There have been romance rumours about Carrie and I, but unfortunately, because Carrie is in my age bracket (my Tinder age bracket is legal to dead), but I'm not in Carrie's age bracket," he said. "She only likes much older, powerful men." He also playfully swiped at her beauty, saying, "Carrie looks better and better, and if you want to know what's her secret—cosmetic surgery." Little, who split from ex-girlfriend Natalie Kyriacou in 2021, recently doubled down on his affection for Bickmore. "She's one of my best mates," he told TV Weekly. "My co-host is brilliant…She's so good at what she does," he said. Bickmore returned serve at Little's I'm Not Proud show at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival earlier this month The veteran presenter took to Instagram Stories to share a photo of her co-star mid-performance and wrote "5-star review" with a hand clapping and star emoji.

Radio host Tommy Little makes huge change to his lifestyle for rumoured lover Carrie Bickmore

Tommy Little has continued to fan the flames of romance rumours with his HIT Network co-host Carrie Bickmore as he makes massive lifestyle changes for the blonde beauty. The comedian, 40, revealed on Sunday he has given up vaping and is attempting to lose 10kgs so he can run The Big Five Marathon in South Africa to raise money for Carrie's Beanies 4 Brain Cancer charity. Sharing a video of himself taking a jog to Instagram, Tommy said he has seven weeks to get into running shape for the cause, saying he has become a 'doughy boy' since his last marathon. 'We are seven weeks out from The Big Five Marathon in South Africa. I just ran 13.3 kms. Not quick because I am a doughy boy,' the radio star said. 'I weighed myself this week. I weigh 86kg, which might not sound like that much, but the only time I ran a marathon I weighed 70kg. So I am 16kg over my previous running weight.' Tommy went on to joke he needed to wear 'a sports brazier when he runs' before encouraging his followers to donate to his co-star's cause to help find a cure for brain cancer. 'I'm trying the best I can. I don't think I'm going to be breaking any PBs [personal best], but I've quit vaping for the 42nd time this week. I did three runs. A couple sessions in the gym.' Tommy went on to write in the caption of his video: 'I plan to lose at least 10kgs and work my a*** off for the next seven weeks. Anyone who wants to get involved is more than welcome.' Work colleague and rumoured love interest Carrie, 44, took to the comments to encourage Tommy, writing: 'Yes Tommy! Yes! You got this.' In march, Tommy took to the stage again to make jokes at his co-star's expense for The Roast of Carrie Bickmore. However, the media personality had the crowd speculating whether he had the hots for the blonde beauty after he made a suggestive comment about her appearance. During the roast, Tommy declared Carrie 'looks better and better' every day. 'She's just getting hotter and hotter, and if you want to know what's her secret: cosmetic surgery,' he joked. 'Want to know what Carrie would look like without all the work done? Bev Killick,' he added, as he gestured to the comedian who was also taking part in the comedy skit. Carrie donned a stunning red gown for the occasion. Her figure was on full display in the show-stopping backless number. The night out came after Carrie's very public split from longtime partner Chris Walker in 2023.
