Tommy Little moved to tears as he reads a heartbreaking letter of support from family who lost 21-month-old son to brain cancer
Tommy Little broke down in tears this week as he read a letter from a family who lost their son to brain cancer. The comedian, 40, is gearing up for the Big Five Marathon in South Africa, later this month, to raise money for Hit Network co-host Carrie Bickmore 's Beanies 4 Brain Cancer charity. Tommy took to his Instagram reel on Friday to share an emotional clip in which he read a letter from parents Ollie and Brooke, who lost their son, Hugo, to brain cancer at just 21 months. 'We'll see how we go,' Tommy began, already with tears in his eyes. 'Dear Tommy,' he read. 'A letter to you for your upcoming marathon. To step willingly into something hard for the sake of others, many of whom you'll never meet, that's a rare kind of courage and a quiet power that we feel so deeply.' From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. The letter continued: 'There will be people with you on that course - some visible others unseen - like families like ours, and children like our Hugo.' Tommy then held up a photo of little Hugo, adding: 'This is why I'm already crying.' Ollie and Brooke then explained that their world was shattered when Hugo was diagnosed with brain cancer at just 10 months old. 'Hugo spent his first half of his life in hospital, crippled with a treatment that only ever gave him a 10 per cent change to see his fifth birthday,' Tommy continued reading, tears welling in his eyes. 'He passed away at 21 months old, but earnt each day showing us that with a breathing heart, a working body, and legs that can move forward is a gift.' Ollie and Brooke then wrote that they hoped Hugo could provide some Tommy with some inspiration on his upcoming challenge. 'When it gets hard out there, when your legs burn, when doubt creeps in, we hope Hugo can be the wind on your back.' they wrote. 'Hugo is so close to the earth and, when you're running in South Africa, we hope you feel that connection, too.' 'When it gets hard out there, when your legs burn, when doubt creeps in, we hope Hugo can be the wind on your back,' Tommy continued reading. Clearly moved by the deeply personal and emotional letter, Tommy said Hugo would definitely be with him in South Africa. 'I'll carry Hugo with me on the run,' he said. 'And, if it gets to the point where I feel like every muscle is going to rip off my legs, I'll keep running so hopefully, we won't have more letters like this in the future.' Tommy then addressed Ollie and Brooke directly, offering his heartfelt condolences before appealing to his 315,000 followers to donate to such a good cause. 'I know things are expensive at the moment and I know life is tough, but this is f***ing heartbreak,' he said. The emotional post was met with an outpouring of support from Tommy's friends, fans and followers. Singer Guy Sebastian jumped in, praising the effort with: 'Such an amazing thing you guys are doing and impacting so many good on ya Tommy and crew.' Olympic swimmer Alicia Coutts also offered: 'Wishing you the best Tommy for your marathon. Donated in memory of beautiful little Hugo.' Another follower summed up the sentiment of many, admitting that Hugo's story had moved them to tears. 'Oh my I lost it when Hugo's mum and dad express that Hugo can be the wind on your back Tommy,' they wrote. Tommy will be joined by co-host Carrie Bickmore on the arduous half marathon through the the Entabeni private game reserve in South Africa. The duo, competing as the Carrie and Tommy Show team will run alongside the likes of Ellidy Pullin, Olivia Molly Rogers, Sam Wood, Laura Enever, Trent Cotchin, and Merrick Watts. Tommy recently revealed that he had given up vaping and set himself a 10 kilogram weigh loss goal to prepare for the big run. Sharing a video of himself taking a jog to Instagram, Tommy said he has seven weeks to get into running shape for the cause after he became a 'doughy boy' since his last marathon. 'We are seven weeks out from The Big Five Marathon in South Africa. I just ran 13.3 kms. Not quick because I am a doughy boy,' the radio star said. 'I weighed myself this week. I weigh 86kg, which might not sound like that much, but the only time I ran a marathon I weighed 70kg. So I am 16kg over my previous running weight.' Tommy went on to write in the caption of his video: 'I plan to lose at least 10kgs and work my a*** off for the next seven weeks. Anyone who wants to get involved is more than welcome'.

The Project hosts ignore 'cancellation' rumours as they awkwardly fail to address reports they are getting axed
The Project made headlines this week as reports emerged the Channel Ten show is set to get the axe in favour of a new current affairs show. However, hosts Georgie Tunny, Max Rushden and Susie Youssef refused to address the 'cancellation' rumours on Friday evening. As the show closed out, Georgie, 34, told viewers they would be back on Sunday, but made no mention of claims the network will pull the plug on the show. 'That is it for tonight. Please thank Max Rushden, Susie, and we will see you Sunday,' she said, despite expectations she would announce the show's cancellation. Confused viewers took to X—formerly known as Twitter—to ask: 'Wait... is it still on?!' From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. 'I heard the project is dead?' remarked another. Reports emerged on Thursday saying The Project is set to get the axe following years of sliding ratings. Industry insiders revealed to TV Blackbox a brand new current affairs show is in development to replace the show, with a major format overhaul already in the works. Unlike its predecessor, the new program will reportedly air only four nights a week from Monday to Thursday, scrapping the low-performing Friday night edition. The Sunday edition of The Project, which has aired since 2017, is also expected to be axed, leaving a noticeable gap in Ten's early evening lineup. Sources have revealed the replacement program is being quietly prepared for a launch as early as July or August. It will be a significant shift in tone and volume, with the new show to run 30 minutes per episode, down from The Project's six-hour-per-week live broadcast format. The dramatic cut to Ten's primetime output has left some questioning how the network plans to fill the additional airtime. There is also questions about whether the savings from winding down the show's production—currently managed by Roving Enterprises—will be reinvested elsewhere. Daily Mail Australia previously revealed Ten has poached several high-profile journalists from Channel Seven. Veteran reporter Denham Hitchcock, 7News Sydney's Bill Hogan, and award-winning former foreign correspondent Amelia Brace are set to become Ten stars. The trio are believed to have signed on to front a new current affairs program backed by Ten's head of news Martin White. Amelia and Denham left Seven's Sydney newsroom within hours of quitting and began work at Ten on Monday, while Bill is expected to start in a few weeks. The departures fuel speculation Ten is preparing to launch a prime-time news show to take on Nine's 60 Minutes, Seven's Spotlight, and ABC's Four Corners. Industry sources say the new program will focus on long-form investigative stories and is currently assembling a 'crack team' of reporters and producers. A Ten spokesperson confirmed the shake-up to Daily Mail Australia, saying: 'Following the continued growth and success of our news brand 10News we are investing in an investigative unit that will work on long-form stories.'

Huge blow for Sonia Kruger as long-running television series faces the axe
Channel Seven 's Dancing with the Stars could be facing the axe. The broadcaster is rumoured to be cancelling the beloved Aussie reality series just a week before the 22nd season hits screens, leaving hosts Dr. Chris Brown and Sonia Kruger 's jobs up in the air, according to Insiders claim that the Seven network is tired of forking out large sums of money for the show's production, which is said to cost around $1million per episode. The network's tight purse strings explain why recent seasons have seen shorter production periods, now taking place over five weeks as opposed to ten weeks back in the early 2000s. This isn't the first time Dancing with the Stars has been cancelled by Seven. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. The broadcast was swiped off of Aussie screens in 2015 after viewership numbers made a swift decline. However, it was quickly picked up in 2019 by Channel Ten, who put it back down the following year. It came as a surprise when Channel Seven revisited the broadcast in 2021, with close sources revealing that a big factor in the show's return was Sonia's new role under the network's helm. The cancellation of Dancing with the Stars marks the third program hosted by Sonia, 59, that has been axed by Seven. In October last year, industry insiders claimed the popular Channel Seven star's future at the network could be up in the air. Despite the television favourite once being one of Seven's most in-demand stars, rumours circulated that may no longer be the case after changes at the network. One change included her former hosting gig on Big Brother jumping ship after the reality show moved to Network Ten in 2025 with a rebooted format and new host in Mel Trancia. Another big change for Sonia, who also hosts The Voice on Seven, was her husband Craig McPherson vacating his role as head of news and current affairs at Seven West Media in April. A Seven spokesperson rubbished the Daily Telegraph's claims that these developments had seen the star fall out of favour at the network. 'You are making things up. This is total fiction and completely wrong. To publish this rumour would be deliberately misleading,' the spokesperson said. Despite this, the publication claimed that a 'highly placed source' at Seven said that Sonia was 'vulnerable' citing her reported $1.3 million contract. 'Now Big Brother has gone, she will likely be doing less,' the unnamed source told the outlet. Representatives for the Gold Logie winner threw more water on the rumour fire, telling the publication Sonia was 'happy' at the network. 'Sonia is under a long-term contract with Seven, has not received a pay cut, and is very happy at the network.'
