Carnival Cruise Line promises to fix unpopular change
In most situations, watching the clock is considered a bad habit that's driven by feelings of boredom, stress, or anxiety. However, for many cruisers, watching one type of clock is actually a positive thing that's fueled by excitement and anticipation for their next sailing. Related: Carnival Cruise Line sounds the alarm on new scam Some cruisers say the next best thing to actually boarding the ship is watching their cruise countdown clock timer get into the single digits and eventually reach zero. A very popular feature in Carnival Cruise Line's HUB app, the Carnival cruise countdown timer has long been the default view for Carnival passengers when they open the app. Some passengers make a point to open the app daily just to get a dose of excitement as they watch the countdown wind down, inching closer and closer to their vacation. Because of this common pre-cruise ritual, some Carnival cruisers recently sounded an alarm as they opened the HUB app and no longer saw their cruise countdown timer ticking away. Carnival Cruise Line has been working on updates and enhancements to its app recently, and in the process, changed the default view, moving the popular cruise countdown to another section of the app. This change sent many concerned cruisers to Carnival Cruise Line Brand Ambassador John Heald's popular Facebook page for help. "Some of you wrote to me and said you couldn't find your countdown clock," the brand ambassador noted in a recent Facebook video where he addressed the app update. Related: Carnival cruisers are strongly against this trending hotel tech Always eager to help Carnival cruisers, Heald went straight to his colleagues – Carnival executives whom he calls "the Beards" - for help with the cruise countdown conundrum. "I did speak to the Beards about this and they told me this and I quote, 'The new default page for guests is now Cruise Manager, not the cruise countdown. So, if you go into your Cruise Manager, the number of days to your next sailing is under your Cruise Planner,'" Heald explained. The brand ambassador also shared some good news for passengers who don't want to navigate to another part of the app to find their cruise countdown. "Now I did speak to them and they told me - the Beards - that they're going to add something called a widget, which as you all know is (I have no clue) a widget. I really don't," Heald noted. "Anyway, they're going to make it easier for guests - for you - to find that popular feature - the countdown clock." Heald didn't say when the Beards expect to add that widget, but he promised that they're working on it, and that the popular cruise countdown feature is still available in the app, just in a different place. "But right now, the default page, if you're looking for your cruise countdown, is to go to your Cruise Manager and [under the Planner tab], that's where you'll see your next sailing and the countdown and everything will be found there," he reiterated. "I know how much all of you love the app and I know my colleagues are going to be doing more exciting things to come," Heald added. "They're working on something you've all been asking me for, which is a push notification, which is when you get a message on the app that it's going to go 'bing bong,' or…me just going, 'Hey silly sod, you've got a message' - that would be a good push thing."
