Bay County Job Fair connects hundreds of jobseekers with local employers
BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WMBB) – Saturday morning, hundreds of job seekers connected with employers across the panhandle at the 38th Annual Bay County job fair. Over 30 employers set up at Gulf Coast State College, looking to fill over 500 event featured openings in healthcare, education, law enforcement, hospitality, manufacturing, and more. 'This is our premier hiring event of the year, and we host Target with all throughout the year at our job center. But this is the big one, that there's something for everyone. And again, we represent all the major industries here. So you'll probably find something that you are qualified for here,' CareerSource Gulf Coast Communications Manager Becky Samarripa said. With the variety, many job seekers found success at the job fair. 'I love how these are all local, so these are all people that are here right now maybe have the opportunity elsewhere, but they're kind of hiring immediately in the area and in the community, which I'm really looking forward to. I am going to send my resume to a few people that I talked to, got some good cards, some good information, and I just made those connections. That, hopefully, will help me down the line,' job seeker Brooke Gasser said. Event organizers also reserved an hour before the official start time for veterans and the military community. 'We gave the veterans an opportunity to come in and meet with us first, which was amazing. That turnout was great. And the event that they put here together; it's first class all the way. I've had an opportunity to meet with so many great people, so many talented individuals that fit our needs here. So, we're proud to be here,' Peaden Air Conditioning, Plumbing & Electrical Human Resources Director Mark Schneider said. Bay County Job Fair to feature 30+ employers with 500 job openings
PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WMBB) – Over 30 employers looking to fill over 500 jobs across all types of fields will set up shop at Gulf Coast State College for the 38th annual Bay County Job Fair on Saturday, March 8th. All the participating employers have openings for positions only in the panhandle across fields including healthcare, construction, hospitality, manufacturing, education, and more. The open jobs at the fair range in part-time, full-time, and seasonal work with openings for those with all types of work experience. Event organizers are encouraging anyone interested in attending the job fair to check their resumes and do their research on the businesses they are interested in. Tee off in support of local organization in Panama City Beach 'They should research the employers, understand what they do, what services and products they have, be ready to really speak to these hiring managers that are looking for them,' said CareerSource Gulf Coast Communications Manager Becky Samarripa. 'They need to be ready to present themselves professionally, and what they're wearing. In their what we call an elevator speech, which is like a 30-second infomercial about what you can do and what you bring to this employer.' CareerSource Gulf Coast is open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and has professionals who can help you perfect your resume ahead of the fair. This free job fair will be held in the Student Union East Building at Gulf Coast State College in Panama City between 9:30 a.m. and noon.
