Children driving stolen ride-share car crash, killing 13-year-old New England boy, police say
A 13-year-old boy was killed and a 14-year-old girl was seriously hurt in a crash involving a car that was reported stolen in New Hampshire early Wednesday morning. The crash happened in Bedford at around 1:50 a.m. at the on-ramp of Route 101, according to the Bedford Police Department. The car involved in the crash, a 2014 Toyota Corolla, had rolled over after it exited the on-ramp onto Kilton Road, police said. Both the 13-year-old boy and 14-year-old girl were ejected from the car. The children were the only people in the car at the time of the crash, the department said. The boy, who was from Manchester, New Hampshire, was brought to a local hospital and later pronounced dead. The girl — also from Manchester — was brought to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. A preliminary investigation into the crash showed neither child had been wearing seatbelts, and the Toyota Corolla was reported stolen earlier from a ride-share and delivery driver in Manchester, police said. The investigation into the crash is ongoing by the Bedford Police Department. The crash caused the on and off ramps to be closed for a period of time until Wednesday morning. Man arrested in brutal assault of bride-to-be on bachelorette outing in Dallas
A man has been arrested in connection with the violent beating of a woman who was celebrating her bachelorette weekend in Dallas last week. Canada Rinaldi, 27, was visiting Texas with friends when a man she did not know attacked her in the early-morning hours on March 23, police said. The Dallas Police Department identified the suspect as Trevon Woodards. Police said Woodards was arrested on Friday by the Bedford Police Department, a jurisdiction in the suburbs outside of Dallas. Rinaldi told NBC Dallas-Fort Worth that she and her friends came down from Oklahoma to host her bachelorette weekend in the city. Her wedding is in a month, and Rinaldi now has a concussion, a broken nose, three broken teeth and eight stitches on her face. Kelly Peralta, an aunt of Rinaldi's fiancé, told NBC DFW that the group was leaving a club and walking across the street to an Uber when they were blindsided by a man. 'We started walking across the street to get into the Uber, and that's when he came from behind and he punched Canada, and she went straight down, and I turned to push him away, and that's when he got me,' Peralta said. Peralta had a black eye following the assault. A GoFundMe for Rinaldi said the bride-to-be has more than $10,000 in medical expenses between the cost of the ambulance and the hospital stay. The crowdfunding campaign raised nearly $20,000 by Sunday. 'We are so incredibly grateful for every single donation, share, and kind message,' her friend wrote on the page. 'Your generosity and support mean the world and have brought so much comfort during such a difficult time.' Court records for Woodards in the case were not immediately available. Inmate records show he remained in custody as of Sunday afternoon and it is unclear if he has retained an attorney. Dallas County court records show Woodards was charged with felony assault in September 2021, but pleaded guilty to a lesser misdemeanor charge. A police report filed in the 2021 case said that Woodards had interfered with the arrest of an individual with felony warrants, demanding to 'know what was going on.' He was told by officers to back up three times before Woodards grabbed an officer's shirt and head and 'began to eye gouge' the officer, the report said. Officers shocked Woodards with a stun gun and arrested him, the police report said. He was sentenced to a year of community service and appears to have spent 10 days in jail for a violation on his probation in February, according to court records. Former Morgantown Councilor facing numerous charges in Virginia
Mar. 1—MORGANTOWN — A former Morgantown City Council member and WVU College of Law graduate is facing a host of charges in Virginia tied to a string of burglaries spanning several counties. According to a Bedford Police Department press release, Ryan Wheeler Wallace was taken into custody without incident on Feb. 27 after a multi-agency investigation culminated in a search warrant for his residence. The Dominion Post has confirmed this is the same Ryan Wallace who represented Morgantown's 3rd Ward on Morgantown City Council for a single two-year term from July 2017 through June 2019. Wallace graduated from the WVU College of Law in May 2018. While in school, he was named one of the top student leaders in the country by the National Jurist, which made him a finalist for its Law Student of the Year in 2018. According to the press release, the Bedford Police Department began looking into a burglary at an area business that occurred in January. The suspect captured by surveillance cameras appeared similar to an individual being sought for similar crimes in nearby Bedford and Botetourt counties. Through the collaborative efforts of all three agencies, a suspect was identified. In February, the Roanoke County Police Department took a report that a business in its jurisdiction had been burglarized. The same individual was captured by that business's cameras. Around this time, agencies in northern Virginia joined the investigation, as they had reports of similar crimes in their jurisdictions. According to the release, Wallace is facing, "a number of felonies and misdemeanors related to these crimes, with the possibility of more charges to come." All told, nine agencies contributed to the investigation. Wallace was 36 years old when he defeated incumbent Wes Nugent (1, 579 — 975) to win a seat on Morgantown City Council in April 2017. On March 22, 2019, just over a month ahead of the city's April 30 election, Wallace abruptly announced that he did not intend to serve a second term as he and his family were moving to Toronto. Based on city code at the time, it was too late to remove his name from the ballot. Come Election Day, enough voters were aware of the situation that one of the write-in candidates, Zack Cruz, was elected. Once in Canada, Wallace opened his own law firm, Wallace Legal. Since closed, that firm is currently under the trusteeship of the Superior Court of Justice and under investigation by Canadian authorities. According to information provided to The Dominion Post, Wallace cut ties with his family and left Canada on his own in March 2024.

Subaru Driver Leaves 800 Without Power After Hitting Electrical Tower
An unfortunately timed car accident in Bedford, New Hampshire left roughly 800 people in the cold and dark ahead of Sunday's Super Bowl, after an electric transmission tower came crashing to the Earth. According to a press release issued by the Bedford Police Department, the incident took place on Saturday evening, when police responded to a single-car crash on Back River Road: a vehicle had exited the roadway and crashed into the equipment tower, with the car suffering what police described as "heavy front end damage." A post from a local news Facebook page, Hillsborough Alert, shows the tower at night after the impact, with what appears to be a Subaru with severe front-end damage next to the structure and tire tracks in the snow leading off the road and up to the base of the transmission tower. The driver, who police said was from Merrimack, New Hampshire, was given a citation for speeding, as well as for driving too fast for the conditions at hand. Luckily nobody was injured in the incident, but some 800 customers were immediately plunged into darkness. That's not exactly what you want to happen just ahead of any major sporting event, much less the Super Bowl. Locals told local ABC affiliate WMUR 9 News that the accident produced quite the ruckus, with one neighbor likening the impact to loud fireworks. The tower itself was owned by National Grid, but it managed to fall over into other lines owned by local provider Eversource, meaning customers from both companies were impacted. Thankfully, all of the Eversource customers had their power restored by Super Bowl evening, but some continued repair work from National Grid is expected to take place through Monday, as police said roughly 75 people were still without power on Sunday. WMUR9 says that building a new tower will be necessary, and that it could cost as much as $100,000. Remember that next time you decide to push a little too hard in the slick stuff.
