Adani Group refutes reports of tie-up with BYD for battery manufacturing
Adani Group on Monday refuted media reports suggesting it was in talks with Chinese companies for battery manufacturing or clean energy technology tie-ups. The group stated categorically that it is not exploring any partnership with BYD or Beijing WeLion New Energy Technology. In a filing to the stock exchanges, Adani Enterprises Ltd, the group's flagship company, said, 'The Adani Group is not exploring any form of collaboration with BYD for battery manufacturing in India. Similarly, we are not engaged in any discussions with Beijing WeLion New Energy Technology for a partnership of any kind.' This clarification comes amid reports that group Chairman Gautam Adani was 'personally heading discussions' with senior BYD executives to manufacture batteries in India as part of the conglomerate's broader clean energy ambitions. While denying any such developments, Adani reiterated its commitment to building a robust clean energy infrastructure. The group has a significant presence across the green energy spectrum, including solar module manufacturing, wind energy equipment production, and green hydrogen. Adani is currently scaling up its solar module manufacturing capacity to 10 gigawatt (GW) per annum and plans to nearly double its wind turbine production capacity to 5 GW per annum. The group is also preparing to set up a facility for manufacturing electrolysers, critical equipment for producing green hydrogen.
