Good Fortune trailer: New film starring Keanu Reeves, Seth Rogen, and Aziz Ansari in theaters October 17

Lionsgate has unveiled the first trailer for Good Fortune, the much-anticipated directorial debut from Aziz Ansari. The film follows Gabriel (Keanu Reeves), a well-meaning but bumbling angel who intervenes in the lives of a struggling gig worker (Ansari) and a wealthy venture capitalist (Seth Rogen). The cast also includes Sandra Oh and Keke Palmer. In a previous statement, Ansari praised Palmer, saying, 'Keke is a delight to work with. I'm so happy she's a part of our cast and even more excited to provide a quote for this press release announcing her casting.' Good Fortune marks Ansari's first feature as a director, following his success as star and creator of Netflix's Master of None. The film is produced by Ansari, Anthony Katagas and Alan Yang, with Ansari, Christopher Woodrow, Connor DiGregorio and Jonathan McCoy serving as executive producers. Brady Fujikawa and Jon Humphrey oversee the project for Lionsgate, with Dan Freedman, Phil Strina, John Biondo and Matt Leonetti having negotiated the deal for the studio. The film is a joint production between Garam Films, Oh Brudder, Keep Your Head, and Yang Pictures, and is presented by Lionsgate in association with Media Capital Technologies. Originally titled Being Mortal, the film was scheduled for release in 2022 but was shelved following allegations against then-star Bill Murray. Good Fortune is now set to be released in theaters on October 17.

Keanu Reeves Is a Guardian Angel to Seth Rogen in Aziz Ansari's ‘Good Fortune' Teaser

Aziz Ansari finally has fortune on his side: The writer/director's long-awaited 'Good Fortune' is almost here after strike delays. 'Good Fortune' stars Keanu Reeves as Seth Rogen's guardian angel (yeah, the casting is almost too good to be true), with Ansari also co-starring in addition to helming the feature. 'Good Fortune' was first announced in April 2023; the project is being billed as Ansari's directorial debut after his 'Being Mortal' production fell in limbo as of April 2022 amid actor Bill Murray's sexual misconduct allegations on the set of the Searchlight Pictures film. (Murray later claimed the investigation stemmed from a miscommunication.) Rogen was also attached to star in 'Being Mortal,' in addition to leading 'Good Fortune.' Of course, with 'The Studio' Season 2 already in the works, who knows if Rogen will still have time to be 'Mortal' as well. Ansari also produces along with Anthony Katagas and Alan Yang; Aniz Adam Ansari, Jonathan McCoy, Christopher Woodrow, and Connor DiGregorio executive produce. The film is a Lionsgate feature in association with Media Capital Technologies, and is a Garam Fiilms / Keep Your Head / Yang Pictures production. In addition to starring alongside Rogen in 'Good Fortune,' Reeves is teaming up with another 'Superbad' alum, Jonah Hill, for Apple film 'Outcome.' Hill will direct and produce the film about a damaged Hollywood star (Reeves) who must dive into the dark depths of his past to confront his demons and make amends after he is extorted with a mysterious video clip. He also will appear in 'Ballerina' and the untitled fifth 'John Wick' film. Rogen, meanwhile, is among the voice cast for Andy Serkis' 'Animal Farm' movie alongside Steve Buscemi, Glenn Close, and Kieran Culkin. He additionally will star in Kristen Stewart's stoner comedy 'The Wrong Girls.' Lionsgate will premiere 'Good Fortune' in theaters October 17. Check out the teaser below. Scarlett Johansson Shares Surprising Thoughts on Bill Murray After Recent Misconduct Allegations

In a recent interview with Variety, 40-year-old Marvel actress Scarlett Johnasson went into candid about her past working relationship with Bill Murray, saying the actor "was in a hard place" during filming of their 2003 romantic comedy, Lost in Translation. In the film, Murray portrays an aging Hollywood actor who travels to Tokyo in order to film a commercial for a prominent whiskey company. While there, he befriends Johansson's character: a young, recently married college graduate puzzling over what to do with her life. Though Lost in Translation was ultimately released to stellar views (as well as netting an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay), the 40-year-old Johansson recalls that the movie's production was notably difficult, mainly owing to Murray's behavior. In her interview with Variety, the former Avengers star refused to provide specific details about Murray's on-set behavior during filming of Lost in Translation. However, Johansson eluded to Murray's immediate influence on the movie's production, telling Variety, "Everybody was on tenterhooks around him, including our director and the full crew, because he was dealing with his ... stuff." Years later, however, Johansson described her more recent encounters with Murray, including a backstage interaction at SNL during the show's 50th anniversary special. "He's such a different person now. I think life has humbled him," Johansson reflected. Johansson also provided her thoughts on the recent allegations coming out against Murray. Earlier this year, Murray revealed that he had given a woman a kiss through a mask on the set of 2022's Being Mortal, resulting in the movie's cancelation not long after. "Certainly, yes. --that was really bad," Johansson opined. "But I also know COVID was a hard thing for him. Life -- all these things that led up to him being held accountable for that kind of behavior. But you know what? How wonderful that people can change."

Scarlett Johansson Addresses 'Really Bad' 2022 Misconduct Allegations Against Her Former Costar Bill Murray

Scarlett Johansson addressed the "really bad" 2022 allegations of sexual misconduct against Bill Murray in a June 2025 interview with Vanity Fair 'But you know what? How wonderful that people can change," the actress said while discussing her Lost in Translation costar Murray was accused of misconduct by a younger female crew member in April 2022, and reportedly reached a settlement of just over $100,000 with herScarlett Johansson believes "life has humbled" her Lost in Translation costar Bill Murray. More than 20 years after the two actors led the Sofia Coppola-directed dramedy, Johansson, 40, spoke about Murray in her June 2025 cover interview with Vanity Fair. 'He's such a different person now," Johansson said of Murray, 74. "I think life has humbled him.' Murray was accused of misconduct by a younger female crew member on the set of Being Mortal in April 2022, and reportedly reached a settlement of just over $100,000 with the accuser that October. Asked whether she was referring to the misconduct allegations with her "humbled" comment, the Jurassic World Rebirth actress said, "Certainly, yes — that was really bad." 'But," Johansson continued, "I also know COVID was a hard thing for him. Life — all these things have led up to him being held accountable for that kind of behavior.' She added later in the interview, 'But you know what? How wonderful that people can change.' A report published in 2022 claimed that Murray 'straddled' the crew member on a prop bed and kissed her on the mouth through masks worn for on-set COVID safety protocol. The incident resulted in an internal on-set investigation, and the Aziz Ansari-led project, which was being produced by the Disney-owned Searchlight Pictures, was ultimately suspended indefinitely. In a candid interview with The New York Times published April 5, Murray said he felt 'barbecued' by the experience — despite saying he had tried to 'make peace' with the affected parties. 'I don't go too many days or weeks without thinking of what happened. ... I dunno what prompted me to do it,' the Ghostbusters actor told the outlet. 'It's something that I had done to someone else before, and I thought it was funny, and every time it happened, it was funny.' 'I was wearing a mask, and I gave her a kiss, and she was wearing a mask. It wasn't like I touched her, but it was just, I gave her a kiss through a mask. And she wasn't a stranger,' he recalled, adding that he ate lunch with the person 'on various days of the week.' When asked if he thought he had learned from the experience, Murray replied, 'I think so. ... You can teach an old dog new tricks." "But it was a great disappointment, because I thought I knew someone, and I did not," he added. "I certainly thought it was light. I thought it was funny. To me it's still funny, the idea that you could give someone a kiss with a mask on. It's still stupid. It's all it was.' Of their time together on Lost in Translation two decades earlier, Johansson told Vanity Fair, "Bill was in a hard place. Johansson also reflected on her own individual experience working on Lost in Translation, which premiered in theaters when she was just 18 years old, during her interview. The film follows the unlikely kinship Johansson's married college grad Charlotte and Murray's out-of-work actor Bob strike up while abroad in Tokyo as they contemplate their futures and feelings of loneliness. "I'm pretty proud of how I handled myself," she said of making the movie. "I really just did the work, you know? It's a good tactic for pushing through stuff.' Added the actress, 'Eyes on the prize.' Bill Murray has been humbled by life, says Scarlett Johansson

Scarlett Johansson thinks "life has humbled" Bill Murray. The 40-year-old actress worked with Bill, 74, on the 2003 comedy-drama film 'Lost in Translation' - but Scarlett thinks that recent allegations of misconduct and the COVID-19 pandemic have changed her former co-star. She told Vanity Fair magazine: "He's such a different person now. I think life has humbled him." Bill was previously accused by a female crew member on 'Being Mortal' of engaging in inappropriate behaviour with her. The movie was subsequently cancelled and Bill expressed regret about the incident. The actor said: "I did something I thought was funny, and it wasn't taken that way." Asked if she was referring specifically to that incident, Scarlett replied: "Certainly, yes - that was really bad. But I also know COVID was a hard thing for him. Life - all these things have led up to him being held accountable for that kind of behaviour. "But you know what? How wonderful that people can change." Scarlett has also revealed that she still has fond memories of making 'Lost in Translation'. The actress - who played Bill's on-screen love interest in the movie - said: "I'm pretty proud of how I handled myself. I really just did the work, you know? It's a good tactic for pushing through stuff. Eyes on the prize." Meanwhile, Bill previously admitted to having "done some damage" in his life. The veteran actor revealed that he prefers to play complicated on-screen characters, because he can often relate to their failings. The Hollywood star said at the Sundance Film Festival: "It's always interesting when you're playing a guy who has done some damage. I know I've done some damage." Bill observed that the real-life damage he's caused has been "unconscious" - but he didn't discuss any specific examples. He said: "It's unconscious damage, but it's some sort of penance to play them and to show that, you know, to show accepting responsibility for it." The 'Groundhog Day' star has enjoyed huge success in his career. However, Bill has also confessed to being "lazy" at different times. The movie star reflected: "I've been lazy. I don't have an agent anymore, so I'm not the first person people think of to be in studio movies."
