Bel-Air Season 4: Release date speculation, cast and plot details – Everything we know so far
By Aman Shukla Published on May 10, 2025, 19:32 IST Last updated May 10, 2025, 19:35 IST Bel-Air, the modern and dramatic reinterpretation of the beloved 1990s sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, is gearing up for its fourth and concluding season on Peacock. Since premiering in 2022, the show has drawn attention for its raw and more realistic portrayal of Will's transition from the streets of West Philadelphia to the upscale world of Bel-Air. With Season 3 leaving fans on edge with shocking cliffhangers, anticipation for Season 4 is at an all-time high. Here's everything we know so far about Bel-Air Season 4, including release date speculation, cast details, and plot insights. Bel-Air Season 4 Release Date Speculation As of May 2025, Peacock has not announced an official release date for Bel-Air Season 4. However, based on the show's production history and recent updates, we can make an educated guess. Actress Cassandra Freeman, who plays Vivian Banks, revealed in a February 2025 interview that production for Season 4 is expected to begin 'in a few months.' Given the time required for filming and post-production, a 2026 release seems more likely than 2025. Historically, Bel-Air seasons have premiered within six to nine months of filming, so if production starts by mid-2025, a late summer or early fall 2026 premiere is plausible. Bel-Air Season 4 Cast: Who's Returning? The Bel-Air Season 4 cast is expected to feature the return of the core ensemble, ensuring a proper send-off for the Banks family and their extended circle. Based on the Season 4 renewal announcement and the video released by Peacock, the following main cast members are expected to return: Jabari Banks as Will, the street-smart teen navigating life in Bel-Air. Olly Sholotan as Carlton Banks, Will's cousin grappling with addiction and identity. Coco Jones as Hilary Banks, the influencer facing personal and romantic challenges. Akira Akbar as Ashley Banks, the youngest Banks sibling exploring her own path. Adrian Holmes as Phillip Banks, the patriarch working to rebuild his marriage. Cassandra Freeman as Vivian Banks, Will's aunt dealing with a surprise pregnancy. Jimmy Akingbola as Geoffrey, the Banks' house manager with a dangerous past. Jordan L. Jones as Jazz, Will's friend caught in a love triangle. Simone Joy Jones as Lisa Wilkes, Will's love interest. Bel-Air Season 4 Plot Details: What to Expect? Bel-Air Season 4 will pick up after the dramatic Season 3 finale, which left fans with multiple cliffhangers. While official plot details are scarce, the final season is expected to resolve these arcs and provide a satisfying conclusion to Will's journey and the Banks family's story. Studio Execs Say California Needs to Be More Competitive to Bring Production Back to Hollywood
As part of a wide-ranging talk on the future of the entertainment industry at the Milken Institute Global Conference, four Hollywood executives discussed the future of film and TV production in the United States and specifically, in the studios' backyard in California. While Donald Trump's social media float of 'film tariffs' this past Sunday night was touched upon, the executives focused on the more concrete process winding through California's legislature to expand the state's tax credit program to make it more competitive with other production hubs that are pulling jobs from Hollywood's local industry. 'In terms of production leaving here, it's almost more a California issue, honestly, than a U.S. issue,' Sony Pictures CEO Ravi Ahuja said. 'So, while it's true a lot of production has left the United States, it's even worse for California, and there are a lot of people — including our companies — that are working on this with the state government and trying to come up with different bills that will help.' Ahuja was joined by Amazon MGM chief Mike Hopkins, chairman and CEO of HBO and Max Casey Bloys and Universal Studio Group's TV chairman Pearlena Igbokwe, all of whom shared the same sentiment: they want to shoot in California, but it has to make economic sense. 'It's a great day when you can walk out of your office and walk down to the set and say 'hi' to your talent and see what's happening,' Hopkins said. Igbokwe knows personally how much of an advantage it can be to have TV shows shooting where executives like her work, noting that she currently has eight NBC and Peacock productions, including 'Bel-Air,' shooting on the Universal backlot. 'That's a dream to be able to just see your show and not have to get on a plane for five hours or 15 hours,' Igbokwe said. 'It's not like we get up and say, 'Oh wow, I would love to go to Budapest today.' But our job is that. We want to give the producers, writers, storytellers the resources they need … because you want the money as much on the screen as possible, and that might mean you're not able to afford filming locally.' 'I think what's forgotten in our business is that the margins are pretty modest. In any studio it's about 10%. It's not like we're drawing from an enormous well of profit,' Ahuja added. 'Producers will tend to locate in the place that's efficient — so, the more we can make the U.S. efficient, the better.' Bloys also noted that a major issue with California's incentive program is that it is a lottery-based program, and projects that receive the tax credit have six months to begin production or risk having their credit returned to the incentive pool. It is that uncertainty that steers producers towards other states and countries where the incentive application process has more assurances. 'If California were to address that, it would be a big difference. The talent is here, the infrastructure is here,' Bloys said. 'But the issue becomes when you're trying to plan, because [the California incentives] are capped, you can't plan. You have to get into a lottery, and you're not sure if your show is going to get the tax break or not.' A pair of bills that would expand the types of productions eligible for the California tax incentive have passed several committee votes and could be ready for a floor vote later this month. Meanwhile, the legislature is set to begin its budgetary process for the coming year, and part of that process will be weighing Gov. Gavin Newsom's proposal to raise the cap of the production incentive program from $330 million to $750 million. Meanwhile, actor Jon Voight has been meeting with entertainment unions and executives for his 'Make Hollywood Great Again' plan, which would use a combination of a federal tax incentive and penalties for U.S. productions that shoot overseas to encourage more shoots in the United States. Voight presented the proposal to President Trump over the weekend, but the only element of the plan that he has publicly supported is the penalties, which he presented in a social media post earlier this week. The 'tariffs' are similar to the ones that he has imposed on China in a move that has riled global markets and sparked a trade war. The White House somewhat walked back the post on Monday saying 'no final decisions' had been made and that the Trump Administration was 'exploring all options.' A Different World sequel set for Netflix
Netflix has approved a pilot for A Different World, a sequel to the beloved 1987 sitcom that starred Jasmine Guy and Kadeem Hardison as Whitley Gilbert and Dwayne Wayne. The new series will follow their daughter as she navigates life at an HBCU. As reported by Deadline, this marks only the second time Netflix has ordered a pilot. Typically, the streaming service produces shows straight-to-series, bypassing the traditional pilot episode and commissioning entire seasons from the start, unlike network TV. Sources close to Deadline indicate that this pilot is a one-time occurrence, not the start of a larger shift in Netflix's strategy. The production boasts a strong lineup of talent, including writer, executive producer, and showrunner Felicia Pride, as well as executive producers Debbie Allen, Mandy Summers, Tom Werner, Gina Prince-Bythewood, and Reggie Bythewood. Allen, Werner, and the Bythewoods are all veterans of the original series, with Allen returning as director for the sequel-a role she held throughout the original show's run. The 1987 series itself was a spinoff of The Cosby Show and initially focused on Lisa Huxtable (Lisa Bonet) and her experiences at Hillman College, a fictional HBCU. However, after Bonet's departure following the first season due to her pregnancy, the show shifted focus to an ensemble cast that included Hardison, Guy, Dawnn Lewis, Darryl M. Bell, Sinbad, Cree Summer, and Glynn Turman. While the original series centered around Hillman, it's unclear whether the sequel will remain set there or feature a different HBCU. In a similar vein to Peacock's Bel-Air, a reboot of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, the sequel will have a more modern approach, with Pride having worked as a supervising producer on Bel-Air's third season. Filming for the pilot is slated to take place in Atlanta this June, though production will need to quickly finalize its casting for the remaining roles. The HBO show debuted with him being shot at, discovering a dead body, and more—without any explanation. So now, fans may finally get the answers. Until then, here are all the details about who Zion Lindsey is, who plays him, and why he is important in The White Lotus. Zion Lindsey is played by Nicholas Duvernay. Fans may recognize him from his TV roles. Zion Lindsey's actor, Nicholas Duvernay, first gained recognition for his role in Netflix's Purple Hearts (2022). Since then, he has appeared in several other major projects, including a recurring role in Peacock's Bel-Air. Furthermore, he has also starred in popular shows like Assisted Living, The Rookie, All American: Homecoming, and The Winchesters. Additionally, The White Lotus is not his first HBO project—Nicholas's first film was HBO Max's My Dead Dad. In The White Lotus Season 3, Duvernay steps into the role of Zion, a college student who travels to Thailand to spend time with his mother, Belinda, after finishing his exams. While Zion was briefly mentioned in Season 1 during a phone call with Belinda, this is his first full-fledged on-screen appearance in Season 3. In the opening scene of Season 3, he joins Amrita for a meditation session. Their peaceful moment quickly unravels when gunfire erupts, and Zion panics as he rushes to find his mother in the chaos. Soon after, he discovers a dead body in the water, though the identity of the victim remains unknown. Demna Makes the Move to Gucci as Creative Director After 10 Years at Balenciaga
Demna Gvasalia is making the move from Balenciaga to Gucci, Los Angeles' American Contemporary Ballet debuts two new works, James Fuentes presents Jim Jarmusch's first solo exhibition in L.A. and Courteney Cox's Homecourt launches a laundry collection. Georgian fashion designer Demna Gvasalia, known mononymously as Demna, is leaving Balenciaga to become the new artistic director of Gucci in July. Following on from stints at Maison Martin Margiela and Louis Vuitton, Demna launched the brand Vetements with his brother Guram Gvasalia in 2014 and has served as artistic director of Balenciaga since 2015. Demna succeeds Sabato De Sarno, who exited Gucci in early February after two years. There is no word yet on who will replace him at Balenciaga. 'Demna's contribution to the industry, to Balenciaga and to the Group's success has been tremendous,' François-Henri Pinault, chairman and CEO of Kering (which owns both Balenciaga and Gucci), said. 'His creative power is exactly what Gucci needs. As I thank him for everything he has accomplished over the past 10 years, I look forward to seeing him shape Gucci's new artistic direction.' This will not be the first time Demna has worked with the Italian fashion house. In 2021, he collaborated with Gucci's Alessandro Michele on a Hacker Project in which Michele unveiled a Gucci collection that included interpretations of the silhouettes and emblems of Demna's Balenciaga, while Demna created a range of conceptual interpretations of Gucci's recognizable signatures as Balenciaga products. The two brands also happen to share a deep connection to Los Angeles, drawing inspiration from the city's unique vibe and fashion culture for various collections. While at Balenciaga, Demna has celebrated L.A.'s distinctive style, created handbags called the Bel-Air and the Rodeo, and chose Hancock Park as the venue for its Fall 2024 show. Similarly, while at Gucci, Michele brought his Spring 2022 collection, 'Love Parade' – a tribute to the city's spirit of individuality and self-expression – to Hollywood Boulevard and designed a Chateau Marmont-inspired resort collection in 2019. 'I am truly excited to join the Gucci family,' Demna said. 'It is an honor to contribute to a House that I deeply respect and have long admired. I look forward to writing together with Stefano and the whole team a new chapter of Gucci's amazing story.' Los Angeles' American Contemporary Ballet has debuted two new shows to be performed at Bank of America Plaza. 'ACB Jazz' fuses ballet with the popular dances of the 1920s and '30s, set to songs by Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong, Jelly Roll Morton and Johnny Dodds, while 'Homecoming' – billed as ACB's 'biggest and most original ballet' – reinterprets drill and yell squad choreography on pointe, complete with cheerleaders and a marching band. Both are the creations of founder and choreographer Lincoln Jones. 'Like the Metropolitan Opera and New York City Ballet, which give patrons a fuller and more varied arts experience, we want to give people here in Los Angeles the opportunity to see two different shows in the same week,' Jones said. Founded in New York City in 2004, the company moved to L.A. in 2011. The company performs over 60 shows each season, spanning a repertory which includes works by George Balanchine, Fred Astaire, Lincoln Jones and reconstructions of the seminal works of ballet's history. ACB is the only ballet company in L.A. to perform exclusively to live music, played by some of the city's finest classical musicians. Audiences are seated at stage level, allowing for a rare visceral connection with the beauty and athleticism of ballet. Every performance is followed by a reception with the dancers and musicians, and audiences can engage further with the art form through the company's conversations and dancing school programs. The James Fuentes Gallery in Melrose Hill will present Jim Jarmusch's first solo exhibition in Los Angeles, 'Some More Collages,' which debuts a new series of his iconic hand-torn newsprint collages. Celebrated for his work in independent cinema, Jarmusch's output spans a number of creative disciplines including film, visual art, poetry and music. He has long collected newspaper clippings to form an archive of source material for his collages. He likens their creation to the process of automatic writing, each action unfolding naturally, without over-analysis or predetermination. Through this mode, the collages reflect Jarmusch's wider creative philosophy. For Jarmusch, the collages serve as a private, integral part of his creative process and were never initially intended for public display. Over decades, he quietly amassed more than 500 of the works, created spontaneously and without concern for an audience. The James Fuentes exhibitions — first in New York in 2021, and now in L.A. — mark the only occasions where he has publicly exhibited this deeply personal body of work. Born in Akron, Ohio, in 1953, Jarmusch attended Columbia University and New York University in the late 1970s. He has directed films including 'The Dead Don't Die' (2019), 'Paterson' (2016), 'Only Lovers Left Alive' (2013), 'Broken Flowers' (2005), 'Dead Man' (1999), 'Down by Law' (1986) and 'Stranger than Paradise' (1984). As a musician, he has also created numerous soundtracks and studio albums, including with the band SQÜRL. In 2023, SQÜRL crafted an original score for the first-ever 4K restoration of four films by Man Ray, titled 'Return to Reason.' 'Some More Collages' will be on view March 29–April 26 at James Fuentes Gallery, 5015 Melrose Ave., Los Angeles. It was about finding the space for both exuberance and simplicity to co-exist.' The La DoubleJ x Mother Ciao Mamma! capsule is available now on and as well as at La DoubleJ's brick and mortar stores.
