Motorcyclist arrested after speeds estimated 150 mph plus

Lorena, Tx (FOX 44) – A 20-year-old man is facing state jail felony charges following a police pursuit of a motorcycle estimated to have been going over 150 miles per hour. Logan Dale Lane posted $8,000 bond and was released from the McLennan County Jail following his arrest. Lorena police Chief Scott Holt said Lane was identified as a suspect in the case with the help of the public after the pursuing officer broke off the pursuit because he considered it too dangerous after it covered over ten miles in about six minutes. An arrest affidavit stated on April 12 officers got a call from a resident reporting a motorcycle was traveling in the area of IH-35 and Old Lorena Road in a dangerous manner at speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour. Chief Holt stated in the affidavit that the department had received numerous calls over the past couple months of a similar nature. Officers responded to the area but were unable to locate the motorcycle. About 30 minutes later an officer spotted a motorcycle matching the description traveling on Rosenthal Parkway approaching I-35. The affidavit stated the motorcyclist noticed the officer and accelerated rapidly, with the officer stating it was apparent he was traveling well in excess of the posted speed limit on Rosenthal Parkway which is 45 miles per hour. The affidavit stated that at one point the officer was going 130 miles per hour and it was estimated the motorcycle was going over 150 miles per hour. The pursuit continued north on I-35 until the suspect exited on to Highway 6 going toward Valley Mills. The affidavit stated that because of the speeds and the fact that the suspect motorcycle was then traveling into Waco, the officer decided to terminate the pursuit. Police used social media to solicit assistance from the public in identifying the suspect and the affidavit stated that within 12 hours, police received information on a possible identify of the motorcyclist. The affidavit stated that Chief Holt was later able to meet with the suspect who gave a statement about the incident, saying he had 'panicked' and said he was scared and did not want his motorcycle impounded. The affidavit stated the motorcycle was a 2008 Suzuki GSXR 600. Logan Dale Lane was booked into the McLennan County Jail, posted bond the next day and was released. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc.
