‘Like a robot': Syed Saddiq laughs off Kaamatan dance struggle with Bella Astillah (VIDEO)

KUALA LUMPUR, May 31 — Muar MP Syed Saddiq Abdul Rahman had social media in stitches after a video of him dancing with singer-actress Bella Astillah during the Kaamatan Festival made the rounds online. Clad in traditional Sabahan attire, Syed Saddiq gamely attempted local dance steps in a clip shared on social media. But it was his stiff, robotic moves that stole the spotlight — and sparked light-hearted teasing from netizens, including the MP himself. 'Not sure whether to laugh or cry watching the video again. I think I'll just stick to Parliament,' he wrote on platform X. According to him, filming took hours as he struggled to loosen up. 'From afternoon till night. Had to keep reshooting because I was so stiff — like a robot. 'Thankfully, Bella was there. That helped ease the awkwardness,' he said. Syed Saddiq also took the opportunity to send festive greetings: 'This is Malaysia. Happy Kaamatan and Gawai to all.' Sabahans celebrated the Kaamatan Festival on May 30 and 31, while Sarawakians observe Gawai Day on June 1 and 2. Bella later shared on Instagram that the dance was a first for both of them. 'Our first dance collab! Not perfect, but definitely a lot of fun. What a transition – from daylight to night. 'Thank you, Syed Saddiq. I truly appreciate your courage and willingness to try something new. That's what made it special,' she said.

(Video) Netizens React To Syed Saddiq's Romantic Gestures Towards Bella Astillah

Although neither has confirmed the relationship, it now seems evident that actress and singer Bella Astillah and politician Syed Saddiq are romantically involved. The pair have been seen together at several public events and has also been spotted spending time with one another in their personal time. If the signs weren't already clear enough, the young Member of Parliament recently made a notably romantic gesture towards the mother-of-two, and may have even let slip a term of endearment in public. Here's what happened: Earlier this week, Bella Astillah and Syed Saddiq were seen walking together towards a car, where the politician opened the door for her to get into the driver's seat before taking his place on the passenger side. If you're wondering why the 32-year-old didn't drive himself, it's likely because he is still recovering from LASIK surgery. The heartwarming moment was captured and uploaded by user @/kiranasuedelisya on TikTok and quickly went viral. Netizens were charmed by the political figure's romantic gesture of opening the car door for his rumoured partner, with the uploader of the viral post commenting: 'Sweet as always.' That wasn't the only moment that caught the attention of netizens. During their recent public appearance at the Pesta Buka Antarabangsa Kuala Lumpur 2025, the Member of Parliament was heard calling Bella Astillah 'Sayang' as he asked her to pose for a photo with him. This, as expected, has prompted many to suggest there's no longer any need for the pair to keep their relationship under wraps, as seen in the comments online. Still, despite their public appearances and even apparent blessings from their respective families, Bella and Syed Saddiq continue to keep their relationship private. Who knows – perhaps we'll soon hear news of a surprise engagement or wedding announcement. Do you think they make a good match? Watch the viral clips below: Sources: TikTok (1)(2)

National Women's Policy to empower young mothers

Nancy is at third left.-Information Department photo KOTA KINABALU (May 11): The Ministry of Women, Family, and Community Development has introduced the National Women's Policy 2025–2030 as a step to empower women, particularly young mothers facing various challenges in modern life. Its minister, Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri, said the policy, themed 'Empowering Women, Strengthening the Nation,' focuses on improving women's well-being in various aspects, in line with the Malaysia MADANI agenda. 'Young mothers under 34 make up one-third of the country's female population and have great potential to contribute to national development. However, they need emotional, financial and career-family balance support,' she said at the 2025 national-level Mother's Day celebration at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) on Sunday. The event was graced by the wife of the Sabah Yang di-Pertua Negeri, Toh Puan Faridah Tussin, and the wife of the Sabah Chief Minister, Datin Seri Panglima Juliah Salag. Nancy said a Mother's Day survey found that nine out of 10 mothers admit that motherhood today is more challenging, especially in balancing work and family. She highlighted initiatives under the new policy, including: PROKIT (Single Mother Care Program), IKIT (Single Mother Skills Incubator), MamaCare, Wanita Bangkit Program, Two Years Exit Programme, Gig@bit and Volvo Iron Women. These initiatives provide single mothers and homemakers with training and job access for a better future. For healthcare, the ministry, through the National Population and Family Development Board (LPPKN), offers parenting education, counseling, mental therapy, HPV DNA screening and mammogram subsidies. This year's celebration, themed 'A Mother's Loving Touch,' featured activities like the Inspire & Empower Forum, Mother's Care Package, Women's Reproductive Cancer Screening (WCaRe), exhibitions and family activities. In appreciation of mothers' sacrifices, the 2025 Inspirational Mother Award was given to Kasmirah Jaafar, a seamstress from Bekok, Johor, but has spent over half of her life in Sabah. The award recognises Kasmirah's struggles and sacrifices as a single mother raising five children who became teachers, doctors, and engineers. The Young Mother Icon Award was introduced for the first time and awarded to celebrity Dayang Ara Nabellah Awang Astillah (Bella Astillah) as an inspiration to young mothers nationwide. The award honours the 'Bella Spirit', recognising the young mother's resilience in using her talents to rise above a challenging past and raise her children with love and care.

Bella Astillah named Young Mother Icon at National Mother's Day 2025

KOTA KINABALU: Actress and singer Bella Astillah, 31, has been named the recipient of the Young Mother Icon Award in conjunction with the 2025 National Mother's Day Celebration, held today at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC). The award — comprising a certificate, sash, and bouquet — was presented by Toh Puan Faridah Tussin, wife of the Yang di-Pertua of Sabah, and witnessed by Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri, along with Datin Seri Juliah Salag, wife of the Sabah Chief Minister. Bella, whose full name is Dayang Ara Nabeela Awang Astillah, admitted she was initially in disbelief upon learning she had been selected. "At first, I couldn't believe it, so I checked with my management — and they confirmed I had indeed been chosen for the Young Mother Icon Award. I was overjoyed; it's a feeling that's hard to put into words. "I believe many others are just as, if not more, deserving. But perhaps this is a blessing — for me and for my children. I was truly speechless. I hope this encourages me to grow and become a better mother." Bella, a mother of two, acknowledged her own imperfections but said the recognition inspired her to continue striving. "I know I have many shortcomings, and I'm far from the perfect mum. But my children give me strength — they are my motivation to keep going." She also shared heartfelt advice, particularly for young working mothers and single mums, urging them to prioritise time with their children. "I may not be fully qualified to give advice, as I'm still learning too, but I'll share what I've experienced. Once you become a mother, your children naturally become your priority. "What they need most is love and affection. Since I also take on the role of both mother and father, I choose to prioritise time over money. At this stage, while they're still little, quality time is everything. "One day they'll remember that even though I was busy working, I still made the effort to be present, to make them happy, and to ensure they felt loved." Bella encouraged fellow young mothers to always give their best — especially for their children. "Keep moving forward. Don't be overwhelmed by worry about the future — that's not our burden to bear. We just need to go through the journey with trust and an open heart. "Leave the rest to God. What matters most is appreciating every moment in the present and being grateful for what we have — that's the key."

Bella Astillah cries happy tears on her latest visit to Mekah

27 Mar - Now that her life seems to have made a 360 turn, Bella Astillah is happy to be able to return to the Holy City of Mekah in the last 10 days of Ramadan. The actress, who was accompanied by sister Didi Astillah, took to social media to express her thoughts about coming back a year after her last visit, saying, "Last year, I came with tears of sadness, that it hurt my chest as I poured my heart to Him. And this time, I still cried in front of the Kaabah, but out of gratitude to Allah for giving me what I prayed for last time." "Praise be to God, how good Allah is to his servants," she added. Bella added that she also prayed for everyone, especially after receiving a lot of support and love from people throughout the year. "And to those who are sad or feeling down, start learning to accept any situation with an open heart. Because this is what we call making peace with destiny. Whether we want to accept it or reject it, everything will still happen but it will also definitely pass. Remember that destiny never asks about how we accept it, our feelings, whether we like it, dislike it or are happy. Destiny also does not care about our 'healing' process, but that is where the strength lies. When we try to be stronger, calmer and more prepared to face whatever comes," she expressed. Last year, the actress did her umrah following her divorce with Aliff Aziz amid the actor's cheating scandal. This year, the actress was seen accompanied by Muar MP Syed Saddiq at the airport prior to her leaving to Mekah with her sister. (Photo Source: Bella IG)
