Sentencing for truck driver in fatal accident delayed
The sentencing for a transport truck driver from Toronto has been re-scheduled until the fall.
The sentencing for a Toronto-area truck driver involved in a fatal accident has been rescheduled until the fall.
On Sept. 23, 2022, two members of the same family died after their vehicle was hit from behind by a transport truck. It took place on Highway 401 near Belle River Road.
29-year-old Lovepreet Singh pleaded guilty to careless driving causing death, a lesser charge from dangerous driving causing death, which he was originally on trial for.
The maximum penalty he can face under the lesser charge is two years less a day in jail and a $50,000 fine, compared to life in prison.
The sentencing hearing will take place in October.
