Bellevue police chase robbery suspect into Seattle on I-90

A suspect in Bellevue allegedly attempted to rob a business using a taser at around 4:15 p.m. on Friday, according to the Bellevue Police Department (BPD). BPD said officers responded to the business near 500 Bellevue Way Northeast and no injuries were reported, but the suspect fled the scene in a gray/silver car. Police followed the car on Bellevue Way Southeast, then onto I-90 westbound toward Seattle. Video captured on traffic cams shows multiple officers pursuing the car over the Homer M. Hadley Memorial Bridge and into Seattle. BPD says the suspect exited I-90 and entered the Beacon Hill neighborhood, where officers ended the pursuit because the driver entered a residential area. No damage was reported during the pursuit, and police do not believe the public's safety is at greater risk, according to BPD. Police ask for any information related to the incident to call 425-577-5656.

The Brief A 20-year-old man is behind bars, accused of robbing multiple people he contacted through Facebook Marketplace. Police say A Blessing McDaniel met online sellers in person, threatened them with violence and stole their items. BELLEVUE, Wash. - A 20-year-old man from Bellevue is locked up in King County jail for allegedly robbing victims he contacted through Facebook Marketplace. Police say A Blessing McDaniel was known as "Maliki Mcdaniel" to online sellers, before meeting them in person, threatening them with violence and then stealing their items. The backstory One victim, who only wanted to be known by his first name, Mateo, says that was the experience he had with McDaniel on March 13. "When someone is determined to steal from you, they will do whatever it takes," says Mateo. Court documents say McDaniel reached out to Mateo wanting to buy luxury watches that Mateo was selling on Facebook Marketplace and the two agreed to meet at the Crossroads Shopping Center in Bellevue. "He saw the watches and said he liked them, then he pulled out a checkbook and when I saw the checkbook, I knew it was a scam," said Mateo Surveillance footage recorded from Mateo's Tesla shows the exchange between the two men. "[McDaniel] got very nervous. He told me to wait and he would get the money. Then he tried to flee in his car so I grabbed the door and when I did that, the person in the backseat lowered the window and pointed a rifle at my face," said Mateo. Mateo believes there were as many as five people with McDaniel in the Jeep. Drew Anderson, Public Information Officer for the Bellevue Police Department, says there are reports of McDaniel committing similar robberies in Seattle, Edmonds and Kent. The King County Prosecuting Attorney's Office says McDaniel has a 2024 conviction for violating a domestic violence protection order and at least four pending cases in Bellevue Municipal Court, King County and Thurston County. Bellevue investigators tracked down McDaniel at an apartment in Bellevue, and he was booked into King County Jail on March 24. Bellevue Police say you should always put your life before your possessions and if you do buy or sell through social media, make sure to meet in a public place with high foot traffic dueing the day, bring a friend or family member with you and if the worst should happen, call 911. Police: Man guzzled 2 bottles of Fireball before pursuit that closed Big Mac bridge

A Northern Kentucky man broke in and stole two large bottles of Fireball from a liquor store, chugged them in the parking lot and led police on a chase that briefly closed the Interstate 471 bridge overnight. Bellevue Police say 47-year-old Mclean Morris, of Bellevue, drove his sedan into the front of One Stop Liquors on Donnermeyer Drive about 3:30 a.m. Wednesday morning. Morris got out of his car and walked into the store, stealing two 1.75 liter bottles of Fireball cinnamon whiskey, sometimes called "handles" and a couple packs of cigarettes, Bellevue Police Chief Jon McClain said. Morris guzzled both bottles of whiskey in the parking lot before taking off, McClain said. Officers responded to the liquor store overnight and watched surveillance footage of the break-in with the store's owner. It wasn't Bellevue Police's first run-in with Morris and officers were able to identify him in the video. "The department's been dealing with him for years," McClain said. Northern Kentucky police from Bellevue, Fort Thomas, Dayton and Newport went to Morris's home on Division Street, but he was not there. As officers were speaking with neighbors, they spotted Morris driving by on Lafayette Avenue in the car used for the liquor store burglary. Officers demanded that Morris exit the car, but he refused, instead ramming into a Newport police cruiser and several other neighbors' cars with his vehicle. Morris then drove at several officers, forcing them to take cover, the department said in a news release. He took off through the neighborhood on the sidewalk and fled north on Washington. Police pursued Morris at "low speeds" onto the I-471 bridge, also known at the Big Mac bridge. Morris stopped his car at the bridge and shouted profanities at officers for an extended time, leading police to close the bridge, the news release says. As Morris was stopped, officers placed spike strips under the tires of his car in case he took off again. And Morris did. The spikes deflated one of his front tires as Morris continued into downtown Cincinnati. Cincinnati Police began pursuing Morris with Northern Kentucky officers and stopped him at 3rd and Broadway, where he was taken into custody. Morris faces several charges from Bellevue Police, including burglary, criminal mischief, wanton endangerment, fleeing and evading, among others. Additional charges are expected to be filed by Cincinnati police, McClain said. This is a developing story and will be updated.
