Composer and BBC Folk Award nominee to perform in Somerset church
A widely commissioned composer and a BBC Folk Award-nominated accordion player are set to perform in a Somerset church next month.
Paul Hutchinson and Karen Wimhurst will be playing at Marston Church, in Marston Bigot, on Saturday, May 3.
The musicians have been performing together for more than two decades, after being brought together by a love of traditional music.
Their first duo album, Coracle, received five-star reviews and led to them widely touring across the UK and Europe.
They are also members of the Playford Liberation Front, a group that takes part in various dance festivals.
The duo's performances are described as unique each night, with improvisation playing a key role in their shows.
Mr Hutchinson has previously been nominated for a BBC Folk Award as a member of Belshazzar's Feast, and has been involved with Hoover the Dog, Pagoda Project, and The Maniacs.
Ms Wimhurst is known for her distinctive music which mixes traditional and jazz influences with contemporary classical music.
They will be joined by Hannah Cumming, a fiddle player and singer and former actor-musician for UK touring musical, Fisherman's Friends: The Musical, and Bristol-based violinist and multi-instrumentalist Fiona Barrow.
Tickets for the show, which can be obtained via emailing marstonmusicinfo@ cost £15.50 and the event is set to start at 7.30pm.
