Bengals' Andrei Iosivas adds 15 pounds while eyeing breakout season

Cincinnati Bengals wideout Andrei Iosvias is hard at work making sure Year 3 is a continued ascent. After breaking onto the scene as a sixth-round pick in 2023 and registering 479 yards and six scores last season, Iosvias wants to do more than just retain his role in Joe Burrow's offense. Advertisement Iosvias wants to keep ascending while his team wins games. According to Geoff Hobson of one aspect of Iosvias tackling this goal is packing on roughly 15 pounds of muscle, which he says hasn't impacted his speed. "I think it's helping me," Iosivas said told Hobson. "I'm stronger out of my breaks. Quicker. I can put more power into the ground so I can push off faster. People's bodies are built differently. When I put on the weight, it was beneficial to me. Not detrimental. I'm still fast. If I'm the same speed, but heavier, who cares? Run through some tackles." RELATED: Bengals UDFA is already turning heads at OTAs There's a big competition for reps behind Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins in the passing attack. Tight end Mike Gesicki is back and essentially a big slot receiver in the offense. He had 65 catches to Iosvias' 36 last year. Either way, that same push that made Iosvias a late-round success story in an offense already stacked with star receivers hasn't left Iosvias this offseason, clearly. Bengals free agent signing impressed, gives Joe Burrow big comparison

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow has a way of impressing. Beyond the many obvious examples, one can just look at how his new teammates react upon arrival at Payucor Stadium annually. The latest example is guard Lucas Patrick, who signed with the team this offseason as a possible starter and has already told Geoff Hobson of the following: "I was there when Aaron Rodgers won back-to-back MVPs. It would be cool to watch another MVP again." Advertisement RELATED: Shemar Stewart's contract beef with Bengals revealed in report Patrick didn't stop there, either, even explaining some of what he means: "Little nuances where he gives guys adjustments. We were installing something one day. And he went into detail exactly what he wanted and what he's seeing and how that affects the front. It's pretty impressive." Burrow felt like an MVP contender last year despite some of the obvious struggles around him, so provided the offseason really upgraded things, he could be in the running again. Should Lucas win one of the starting guard jobs over the likes of Cordell Volson, he could be out there on the field when Burrow gets to chasing awards, too. Bengals great loves what he's seen from Amarius Mims so far

Bengals great loves what he's seen from Amarius Mims so far Former Cincinnati Bengals standout Andrew Whitworth loves what he sees from the team's current offensive line, especially with sophomore Amarius Mims. Speaking with Geoff Hobson of recently, Whitworth plenty to say about Mims. "Fun to watch," Whitworth. "It's just like quarterbacks and every other position. We put so much emphasis on these young guys being whatever it is the very first year. It's such a process. Especially in that offense where literally he just lines up in the shotgun and is put in the most challenging scenarios he's ever going have in his career. That takes time. He's got all the ability in the world. I'm excited." High praise for Mims, who appeared in 15 games last year, starting 13. He only finished with a 57.8 PFF grade, but the flashes on film and solid showings against some of the best pass rushers in the AFC North suggested major upside. Mims appeared to have an inside track on a starting job as a rookie over the summer because of those flashes before suffering a slight setback. Based on Whitworth's comments and everything else now, it's clear that simply being able to stay on the field for a full season might be the biggest hurdle in the way of Mims becoming a franchise tackle for years to come.
