Some Northwest Arkansas, River Valley schools dismissing early due to possible severe weather

BENTONVILLE, Ark (KNWA/KFTA) — As potential severe weather nears Northwest Arkansas and the River Valley, some schools in the area are opting to dismiss students early. In an email to parents, Bentonville Schools superintendent Dr. Debbie Jones said students will be released early from school. In the email, Dr. Jones says the decision was made after discussions with local meteorologists. Severe weather is expected to move into the region this afternoon. Weather Blog: Significant severe weather outbreak potential Monday Parents who want to check their student out by noon are allowed to do so and the child's absence will be marked as excused. Buses will begin running at 12:30 p.m. for elementary students. Middle school, junior high, and high school buses will immediately follow. High school students who drive themselves to school will be dismissed at 1 p.m. All Bentonville School-related evening activities have also been cancelled for Monday. The Lincoln Consolidated School District said schools will dismiss at 2 p.m. to ensure the safety of students during bus routes. Shiloh Christian announced the following dismissal times for each class: PreK4 and Regular Elementary carline will take place at 1:00 p.m. Sibling Elementary carline will take place at 1:15 p.m. Secondary students will be dismissed at 1:30 p.m. Elementary bus will leave at 1:20 p.m. and get to PH at 1:45 p.m. Secondary bus will leave at 1:40 p.m. and get to PH at 2:05 p.m. The school also said there will be no extended care on Monday. The Siloam Springs School District announced the following dismissal times for each school Northside Elementary Pre-K – 12:30 p.m. Northside Kindergarten – 12:50 p.m. Allen Elementary – 1:15 p.m. Southside Elementary – 12:45 p.m. Intermediate School – 1:10 p.m. Middle School – 1:04 p.m. High School – 1:31 p.m. Main Street Academy – 12:52 p.m. The Gravette School District said car riders will be released at 1 p.m. and bus riders will be dismissed at 1:15 p.m. 21 C and Bella Vista Boys and Girls Club will be closed this afternoon, the district said. UAFS said the campus will close at 1 p.m. All remaining in-person events and activities scheduled for this afternoon and evening are canceled, the university said.
