Berghaus' £35 breathable performance hijabs just got a new expanded range

Berghaus' performance hijabs promise to stay put during outdoor activities and were such a hit when they first launched that the brand has extended its range to include more colours When the Berghaus Technical Hijab first launched in 2023, it was only supposed to be a limited edition piece. However, it sold out almost immediately and proved so popular that Berghaus brought it back as a full time part of the brand's performance outdoor gear. Originally only available in black for £35, Berghaus has just expanded its range for 2025 to include a brand new grey colour. Retailing at £40, the new addition gives women more choice when it comes to their activewear, without compromising on their faith or style. The Technical Hijab was developed in collaboration with brand ambassador Zahrah Mahmood, also known as the Hillwalking Hijabi. Thanks to its popularity it's now being made in increasing numbers to meet its growing demand from Muslim women who want to be active outdoors whilst wearing fit for purpose products. Zahrah said: 'We were delighted with the initial success of the Berghaus Hijab in 2023. Since then, more and more Muslim women are deciding that they want to head into the outdoors and they need the proper kit to enjoy that experience. For many of us, a hijab is an absolute essential, so it was a pleasure to have played my part in bringing the original product to the market, and I am delighted that Berghaus is extending the range with a new colour.' It's made from high performance lightweight Polartec Delta and is super lightweight, weighing in at just 90g. The fabric balances both breathability and insulation, so you can wear it in all weather conditions all year round, and helps keep moisture and sweat off your brow whilst exercising. It fastens with press studs rather than pins for added security and safety, with a flattering fit that sits flat around the face. It's also been designed to avoid flapping in the wind or during movement, so you don't need to worry about constantly adjusting it. Berghaus' Technical Hijab comes in two colours, but you can also head over to Nike, where there's the choice of two different sporting hijabs to choose from. Once is designed for general sporting wear, whilst the Swim Victory has been designed for women of faith to wear whilst swimming. Meanwhile at GymShark there is a complete collection of modest workout clothes and hijabs to shop. The collection designed with Leana Deeb features hoodies, tunics, flared trousers and even a sporting abaya to maintain modesty and comfort whilst working out. However if you want to shop the new addition to Berghaus' Technical Hijabs, they're available to shop now.

Oasis reunion drives Britpop style revival

News last year that one of the biggest names from the Cool Britannia era of the 1990s — Oasis — was reuniting has kicked off a Britpop fashion revival, online wholesale platform Faire has claimed. This week the marketplace platform that connects indie brands with indie retailers said that sales of Oasis-inspired products from such brands have jumped 150% in the UK and 230% globally since the tour was announced last August. And it's not only official merch flying off the shelves, as 'bucket hats have experienced a 275% spike in UK sales, while global demand is up 75%'. Parkas and other 'Gallagher-inspired fashion staples are also seeing a noticeable uplift, and searches for Liam Gallagher -themed goods have soared fivefold'. But it's not only through platforms like Faire that we're seeing the impact with bigger brands also tapping into the 'Oasis effect'. Last year both Berghaus (revamping a jacket he famously wore on stage in 1997) and Stone Island featured Liam Gallagher in their campaigns after the announcement, and this year he's also collaborated with Clarks. Meanwhile Faire said that stores like The Manchester Shop have seen in-store sales rise 147% year-on-year, fuelled by a mix of 90s nostalgia and Gen Z fans discovering the band for the first time. And makers like Blue Iris Designs and Fat Hen and Flor 'are reporting record-breaking demand for their Oasis prints and 'Liam-in-a-tin' figurines – in some cases up more than 1,300%'. The tour kicks off in July and based on product sales linked to other major music moments (from megastars such as Taylor Swift and Beyoncé), stores are expecting the Oasis interest to ramp up further. Faire said one independent retailer said: 'It's not just a reunion – it's a retail resurrection.'

Balaclava thugs torch BMW in driveway of Scots family home

An eight-year-old boy was asleep inside the property at the time thugs two yobs splashed petrol over the car before setting it alight. This is the moment two thugs torched a car outside a Scots family home while a young boy slept inside. Cops were alerted to the incident at Kingfisher Brae in Livingston in the early hours of Wednesday, May 28. ‌ Speaking to the Record, homeowner Claire Campbell said her son woke up as the two yobs splashed petrol over the car before setting it alight. ‌ She can be heard shouting "Dad, your car is on fire" in terrifying footage that captured the incident at around 1am. Claire said: "I've lived here in this house for eight years and never any bother or trouble. ‌ "Luckily I was awake, watching TV in my bedroom and my window was open or it would have been a lot worse. "I had to take my eight-year-old son into the garden at 1am because we were instructed to do so by the fire brigade in case the car blew up, and he was terrified. "I've no idea why they would do this. Maybe they targeted the car because it was white and the damage would look worse." ‌ The clip shows the pair outside the property, at the rear of the white BMW, throwing liquid on the vehicle. Seconds later flames engulf the back of the car as the thugs scarper from the scene. ‌ Police say one was wearing a grey, white and black hooded top, grey jogging bottoms and dark trainers. The other man was wearing a black balaclava, a blue hooded top with white stripes down the arms, blue jogging bottoms and black trainers with white sole. ‌ Another video shows two fire appliances on the street, with a number of officers outside the vehicles. Claire said two police vans were also scrambled to the area following the incident. A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "We were alerted at 1.13am on Wednesday, 28 May to reports of a vehicle fire in Livingston. ‌ "Operations Control mobilised two fire appliances to the town's Kingfisher Brae, where firefighters extinguished the fire and worked to make the area safe before leaving the scene." It comes as cops also said the incident comes after another white car was targeted in the area at the weekend. ‌ Just after midnight on Sunday May, 25, a white Ford Fiesta Zetec was set alight in Ladeside Avenue, Blackburn. A man described as being of average height, of medium build, wearing a balaclava, grey Berghaus jacket and matching bottoms was seen in the area. Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community!
