PITTSFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The city of Pittsfield is advising residents that another round of street improvements are scheduled for this week, impacting on-street parking in certain areas. On Tuesday and Wednesday, loam and seed will be distributed on Backman Avenue, Daniels Avenue, and Jason Street. Crews will also begin to raise structures on Newell Street beginning on Tuesday, which will continue until Thursday. Black bear caught peeking through trees in Amherst Orlando Avenue, Ridge Avenue, Backman Avenue, and Jason Street will each receive a final round of paving on Thursday and Friday. Throughout the week, all streets undergoing maintenance and construction will not allow on-street parking from Tuesday to Friday between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. These street improvement projects will be conducted by crews contracted by the city of Pittsfield. MassDOT crews will also be conducting the following work during this week: Adjusting structures and fixing curbing on North Street from the Lanesborough town line tothe entrance of Berkshire Medical Center (5/27-5/30) Traffic loops at several intersections on First Street (5/27-5/29) Traffic loops on South Street (5/30) All street improvement work is weather-dependent and subject to change. Drivers in the area are urged by city officials to use caution. PITTSFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Another round of street improvement projects will begin this week in the city of Pittsfield, and on-street parking will not be permitted in select areas during construction. Car enthusiasts attend annual Wilbraham Hill Climb Pittsfield officials said that a series of street improvements is scheduled to commence on Monday through Friday. Through the entirety of the week, structures will be raised on Daniels Avenue and Newell Street. Loam and seeds will also be distributed on Ridge Avenue, Orlando Avenue, Backman Avenue, and Jason Street. On Monday and Tuesday, Newell Street will undergo curbing installation. MassDOT will be conducting an additional project, in which North Street will be milled from the Lanesborough town line to the Berkshire Medical Center entrance. Structures will also be raised as part of this project. All roads undergoing improvement work will prohibit on-street parking from Monday to Friday between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Drivers are urged to use caution when traveling on these roads in the upcoming week. Street improvement projects to begin in Pittsfield April 14

PITTSFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The City of Pittsfield will begin its latest round of street improvement projects starting Monday, April 14, focusing on milling and towering structures along several city streets. The work is scheduled to continue through Friday, April 18, and is part of the city's Fiscal Year 2025 roadway improvement initiative. Crews will be working daily between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m., and on-street parking will be prohibited on affected roads during those hours. The following streets are scheduled for improvements next week: Joseph Drive Backman Avenue Jason Street (from Friar Drive to West Street) Orlando Avenue Ridge Avenue Motorists are urged to exercise caution in these areas and be mindful of construction crews and equipment. Additional roads identified for resurfacing and improvements under the FY25 budget include: Newell Street Meadow Lane Daniels Avenue Valentine Road (pending completion of a water line replacement) King Street (also pending a water line replacement) In coordination with the city's efforts, the state will repave the following major roadways: South Street from East/West Housatonic Streets to the Country Club of Pittsfield First Street from East Street to Tyler Street North Street from Berkshire Medical Center to the Lanesborough town line Planning is already underway for the Fiscal year 2026 road projects, with a finalized list expected to be announced later this year.
