Missing mother of 7 found dead in submerged minivan in river, Texas cops say

A missing mother known for her smile and kind soul was found dead in a Texas river, according to police and loved ones. Consuelo Bernabe had last been seen alive on Friday, Aug. 15, in Waco, according to one of her daughters, Maria Romero. Family members were left searching for clues in the days that followed, but there were no leads throughout the weekend. 'If you know Connie you know she's the most laid back, sweetest person ever,' said Niqua Hayes on Facebook. 'Let me know you okay girl!!! Your kids need you.' But on Monday, Aug. 18, the Waco Police Department said a Dodge Caravan was discovered in the Brazos River. After pulling out the minivan, investigators found the body of a 39-year-old woman inside the vehicle, police said. Loved ones identified the victim as Bernabe. Waco police said it has initiated a 'questionable death investigation.' Officers did not have additional information about how she ended up in the river or when it happened. Bernabe was a mother of seven, according to a GoFundMe, which described her as 'a beautiful soul, always smiling and bringing joy to those around her.' 'Everyone loved her, even her enemies,' another one of her daughters, Hermelinda Romero, told KWTX.

Juan Bernabe was relieved of his duties at the start of the year after uploading lewd content onto his social media, featuring his prosthetic penis. His actions were met with severe disapproval from the Serie A giants, prompting them to let him go immediately. ‌ Despite being repeatedly asked to vacate the area, Bernabe remained steadfast, unwilling to budge until law enforcement stepped in. Bernabe was removed from the Formello training ground with a warrant after a judge signed off on it. ‌ This Saturday, the club had the following to say regarding the incident: "S.S. Lazio announces that, following an order issued by the Judge of the Tivoli Court, this morning the eviction of former falconer Juan Bernabé was executed, as he was occupying accommodation within the Formello sports centre without authorisation. "The decision follows the contract termination months ago for behaviours deemed incompatible with the club's ethical values. The Society, after numerous requests for voluntary vacation of the property, acted in competent venues to protect its assets and the operational environment of the sports facility. "Every action was taken in full compliance with the law, with a firm intention to ensure order, legality, and decorum within its structures." Speaking to Radio 24, he said: "I published it to give visibility to the intervention. I come from a naturist family and do not understand why it is linked with pornography." Lazio, however, found Bernabe's conduct to be at odds with the club's ethical principles and chose to part ways with him. This also isn't Bernabe's first brush with controversy at the club, reports the Mirror. ‌ In 2021, he faced suspension for making a fascist salute and chanting "duce, duce" (Italian for "leader, leader"), a phrase associated with Italy's former Prime Minister Benito Mussolini, after a game against Inter Milan. Bernabe stood by his decision to post the content Bernabe's stance at the time was unapologetic: "I did it and I don't regret it because I admire Mussolini, he did great things for Italy as Franco did for Spain." Article continues below Despite previous incidents raising eyebrows among some supporters, Lazio had reinstated him due to his connection with the team's mascot and its fans. Now, the Serie A club has decided to completely sever ties with Bernabe. Reports suggest that Lazio are now searching for a new eagle and falconer to represent them in the 2025/26 season, with Nicola Pataleo being named as a possible replacement. The 46-year-old has enjoyed a long-standing relationship with the Zoomarine amusement park and proudly owns nearly 50 birds of prey, including three American bald eagles – the same species as Lazio's newest mascot Olympia.

Lazio mascot who posted prosthetic penis evicted after locking himself in ground

Falconer Juan Bernabe was sacked by Lazio in January after he shared explicit images of his prosthetic penis online, but he refused to leave the club's Formello complex in the months after A disgraced Lazio mascot who was sacked in January after sharing images of his genitals online has only just been evicted from the club's complex. Juan Bernabe was relieved of his duties at the turn of the year for sharing footage of a prosthetic penis implant - a move that left the Serie A giants "shocked" and forced to terminate his employment with immediate effect. However, that didn't prevent the falconer, who trained the club's mascot Olympia, from continuing to reside in the club's Formello complex despite being asked to leave on numerous occasions. Now, after six months of living at the ground without permission, a warrant has been executed to evict Bernabe. ‌ A statement on matters from the club, which was released on Saturday, read: "S.S. Lazio announces that, following an order issued by the Judge of the Tivoli Court, this morning the eviction of former falconer Juan Bernabé was executed, as he was occupying accommodation within the Formello sports centre without authorisation. ‌ "The decision follows the contract termination months ago for behaviours deemed incompatible with the club's ethical values. The Society, after numerous requests for voluntary vacation of the property, acted in competent venues to protect its assets and the operational environment of the sports facility. "Every action was taken in full compliance with the law, with a firm intention to ensure order, legality, and decorum within its structures." Defending his decision to share the content that he did, Bernabe explained that he comes from a naturist family and that he wanted to share his new appendage to give "visibility" to the procedure. He told Radio 24: "I published it to give visibility to the intervention. I come from a naturist family and do not understand why it is linked with pornography." Regardless of his own views, Lazio deemed that Bernabe's behaviour was "incompatible with the club's ethical values," and that it was only right that they cut ties with him. It's not the first time that Bernabe has found himself in hot water with the club either. He was suspended in 2021 for performing a fascist salute at the end of a match against Inter Milan, as he chanted "duce, duce" which translates to "leader, leader" and is associated with former Italian Prime Minister, Benito Mussolini. ‌ Speaking about that instance, Bernabe said at the time: "I did it and I don't regret it because I admire Mussolini, he did great things for Italy as Franco did for Spain." Despite his actions causing alarm bells to ring among some football fans due to his actions four years ago, Lazio later reinstated him due to the bond that he had forged with the official mascot and its followers. However, it now appears as though the two-time Serie A champions have washed their hands of Bernabe completely. It is said that Lazio are currently on the lookout for a new eagle and falconer to represent the team for 2025/26, with Nicola Pataleo coming as one of the names who has been brought up in conversation. The 46-year-old has collaborated with the Zoomarine amusement park for a long time, and owns almost 50 birds of prey including three American bald eagles - the same breed as most recent mascot Olympia. Iowa Cubs Principal Park bullpens to be moved off playing field in new $1.3 million renovation

DES MOINES, Iowa — During Monday's Des Moines City Council meeting leaders at Principal Park were given the thumbs up to move forward with a $1.3 million renovation project. The changes include moving the home and visitor bullpens off the right and left field line and into new areas that will be built into the existing seating bowl. The changes adhere to the standard practice in new baseball stadiums in relocating the bullpens off of the playing field for safety reasons. The only issue was finding the space, and it ended up costing some seats. Triton Cheer makes state history with first All-Girls National Championship 'Now, removing the bullpens off of the field, in order to do that we had to take seats out and push the bullpens into the grandstand, we're going to eliminate about 700 seats. Any [ballpark] that is younger than us certainly has it pretty much in place, mostly in the outfield, we just don't have the luxury of doing that, so everything will have to be within the confines of the ballpark,' said Sam Bernabe, President and General Manager of the Iowa Cubs. Bernabe said despite the seats lost, there are still plenty of seats for fans, and the change even opens up bullpen-style premium seating for fan interaction. Bernabe says the plan is to have construction be done during the off season, and have the new bullpens ready to go for the start of the 2026 season. Metro News: Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc.
