LAST UPDATE | 1 hr ago A PEDESTRIAN IN her 80s has died after being struck by a bus in Co Louth. The incident happened today at around 12.20pm on Lower Main Street in Dunleer. The woman was taken by ambulance to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, where she was later pronounced dead. The road has been closed for a technical examination of the scene and diversions are in place. Investigating gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward. On the same day, a pedestrian in her late 20s died in Enniscorthy in Co Wexford after being struck by a car. Also last Saturday, a cyclist in her 70s was killed in a collision with a tractor in Co Clare, while 82-year-old Bernadette (Bernie) Cranley, from Lifford in Co Donegal, was killed in a two-vehicle collision in Co Tyrone. A PENSIONER has died after being struck by a bus in a horror collision in Louth today. The fatal incident occurred at approximately 12:20pm at Lower Main Street, in Gardai and emergency services raced to the scene after the alarm was raised over a collision between a pedestrian and a bus. Gardaí have issued an appeal for witnesses to the collision, which happened in Dunleer at approximately 12.20pm on Monday. The woman was transferred by ambulance to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, where she was later pronounced dead. The road has been closed for a technical examination of the scene to be conducted and diversions are in place. Any road users who were at Lower Main Street, Dunleer, between 12.10pm and 12.30pm and who may have camera footage have been urged to make this footage available to investigating gardaí. The victim of Monday's crash is the fifth woman to be killed on Irish roads since Saturday. In Co Clare, a Canadian tourist in her 70s died in a collision with a tractor at Toonagh, Tulla, on Saturday afternoon. Another woman, named locally as 63-year-old Theresa Morgan, was fatally injured after being struck by a car in Ashbourne, Co Meath at about 7.10pm on Saturday evening. Finally, 82-year-old Bernadette (Bernie) Cranley, a native of Lifford in Co Donegal, died following a two-vehicle crash in Co Tyrone on Saturday. That crash happened on the Mellon Road between Omagh and Newtownstewart near the Ulster American Folk Park at about 12.30pm. Ms Cranley was the driver of one of the vehicles involved. A woman aged in her 80s has died in a two-vehicle crash in Co Tyrone. Bernadette (Bernie) Cranley was from Lifford in Co Donegal. Ms Cranley, who was 82, was the driver of a silver Toyota Vitz that was involved in a collision with a blue Suzuki Vitara on the Mellon Road between Omagh and Newtownstewart near the Ulster American Folk Park at around 12.30pm on Saturday. The other driver, a woman in her 70s, was taken to hospital by ambulance for treatment to serious injuries. PSNI Inspector Cherith Adair, from the collision investigation unit, said: 'Our inquiries are ongoing into the circumstances of the collision, and we would like to hear from witnesses or anyone who may have captured dash-cam footage which could assist us.'

Four women lose their lives in separate collisions around Ireland over weekend

Four women have lost their lives in separate collisions around Ireland on Saturday. The four women died in Clare, Tyrone, Wexford and Meath following separate collisions throughout Saturday. At around 12:45pm on Saturday afternoon, Gardaí and emergency services were rushed to the scene of a collision, involving a tractor and a bicycle, which occurred on the L3180 in Toonagh, Tulla, Co. Clare. The cyclist, a woman aged in her 70s, was pronounced deceased at the scene. It is understood the woman was a Canadian tourist who was part of a cycling group. Bernadette (Bernie) Cranley, from Lifford in Co Donegal, sadly passed away following a two vehicle crash outside Omagh in Tyrone on Saturday afternoon. The 82-year-old was the driver of a silver Toyota Vitz which was in collision with a blue Suzuki Vitara on the Mellon Road between Omagh and Newtownstewart near the folk park at around 12.30pm, May 24. At approximately 3pm, Gardaí and emergency services responded to a collision involving a car and pedestrian, which occurred on the R702 road at Curraghgraigue, Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford. The pedestrian, aged in her late 20s was removed from the scene in a serious condition to Wexford General Hospital where she later passed away. Theresa Morgan, aged in her 60s, sadly lost her life on Saturday evening after she was struck by a car at around 7:10pm in Ashbourne, Co. Meath. Tributes have poured for Theresa following her passing. Gardaí continue to appeal for witnesses to the collisions in Clare, Wexford, and Meath, while the PSNI continue to appeal for witnesses to the collision in Tyrone.
