Last chance to nominate Cumbria's 'Best Chippy 2025'
PEOPLE are urged to nominate their favourite place for a chippy tea in the News & Star's 'Best Chippy 2025' awards.
Online nominations will close on Sunday, May 25 with the ten finalists being revealed on Tuesday, May 27. Cumbrians are being asked to get behind their favourite.
It could be newcomers to the scene or shops that have been serving up tasty golden fish and fluffy chips for decades.
Following this, readers will then be able to vote for the county's 'Best Chippy 2025' by picking up editions of the News & Star between Monday, June 2, and Saturday, June 14 with the winner set to be announced on Monday, June 23.
Speaking after its launch, Joy Yates, regional editor for Newsquest Cumbria asked readers to support their favourite.

She said: 'We are delighted to be once again looking for our Best Chippy. In 2024, this was one of our most hotly contested promotions and I'm excited to see who claims the honour this year.
'Do you have a go-to place for your favourite chippy tea – whether that be fish and chips, battered sausage or pies – and where do you stand on mushy peas!
'Who would you place in the top 10? Show your favourites you appreciate their offerings and nominate them right now. You've got until Sunday, May 25 to make someone's day with a nomination.'
