Christ College Brecon sets the pace with standout A Level results and opens its doors this October
Christ College Brecon is once again celebrating an excellent year of A Level results, marking another chapter of ongoing and consistent academic achievement.
With a five-year average of 49% A/A* and 74% A-B*, pupils have consistently performed well above the national average with 27.8% of A Level entries across the UK achieve A*-A grades. This year, 72% of all grades at Christ College were awarded A-B*, reflecting the hard work, dedication and ambition of its pupils.
Head of Christ College Brecon, Gareth Pearson, praised the achievements of the class of 2025. He said 'I'm immensely proud of our Year 13 pupils, these results reflect their hard work, determination and commitment over the past two years.
"My thanks also go to our dedicated staff for their outstanding support. At Christ College, we value an all-round education, and this year group has embraced every opportunity, both in and out of the classroom. Their achievements and contributions have been exceptional, and I wish them every success in the exciting journeys ahead.'
Subject strengths and standout performances

Known for its academic strength and breadth across a wide range of academic disciplines, as well as its rich curriculum in sport, creative arts, and outdoor education, Christ College pupils excelled across a range of curriculum areas.
Pupils delivered particularly strong results across the board. Further Mathematics saw every entry graded A*–A, while Mathematics recorded 82% A*–B and English Literature achieved 100% A*–B. In the sciences, 77% of Physics grades were A*–B.
Vocational routes were also a highlight, with 92% of BTEC Sport entries awarded Distinction*–Distinction and BTEC Performing Arts securing 100% Distinction*–Distinction. These outcomes reflect not only subject mastery but the school's blend of academic ambition with sport, creative arts and outdoor education.
Deputy Head (Academic), Mr Harry Mackridge, said: 'This cohort have stood out consistently for their dedication and commitment to school life at all levels. We're delighted that so many of our pupils will be taking up their first-choice university offers at a range of prestigious institutions and look forward to hearing of their future achievements.'

Beyond the figures, 91% of pupils have secured their first-choice university, with destinations including Oxford, Durham, Warwick, Bath and Imperial. Among the individual successes, Frankie from Brecon will study French at Jesus College, Oxford, and Tom from Llancarfan, who achieved A* grades in physics, chemistry and maths, will read physics at Durham.
