The club was acknowledged at the Welsh Sports Association Awards, winning the Best Sustainability Initiative for 2025.
A spokesperson for the club said: "To receive the award was a huge honour and reflects our ongoing commitment to making a positive impact on the environment and fostering sustainable practices within our community."
Dragons RFC Sustainability Lead David Watts said in a post on LinkedIn on Friday, June 13: "Dragons RFC are pleased to announce that we have been awarded the Welsh Sports Association Best Sustainability Initiative for 2025, sponsored by Floodlighting and Electrical.
"This marks our second consecutive year receiving this award, reflecting our ongoing commitment to making a positive impact on the environment and fostering sustainable practices within our community."
The club credited much of its success to partnerships with Newport Transport Ltd, Stagecoach Group Limited, Katie Cross from Pledgeball, and Cardiff University.
Mr Watts continued in his post: "A massive thank you to our incredible partners, Newport Transport Ltd and Stagecoach Group Limited for their unwavering support this past season. Their initiative to provide all season ticket holders with free travel for home matches has been a game changer for our fans and our sustainability goals.
"I'd also like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to Katie Cross from Pledgeball and Cardiff University for their invaluable assistance with our triple award winning Dragons eco campaign. Your expertise and enthusiasm have been instrumental in driving our initiatives forward."
Dragons RFC said that this recognition marks the beginning of further endeavours towards a sustainable future, with plans to continue its ECO Dragons project and other initiatives aimed at reducing its carbon footprint.
