Christopher James Boland
Christopher James Boland, 38, of Morgantown, unexpectedly passed away Wednesday, June 18, 2025. Born December 30, 1986, in Cape May, N.J., to Bill and Carol Boland, Chris was a son, brother, loving husband, foster father, avid cyclist, devoted environmentalist, and passionate community graduated from Middle Township High School and, on a football scholarship, attended Bethany College, where he graduated cum laude with a BA in Accounting. He became a die-hard Mountaineer fan while earning an MA in Accountancy from West Virginia University and working full-time in the WVU Office of Student Accounts. He left WVU for an opportunity to work in a large accounting firm in Washington, DC for 10 years before returning to Morgantown. He was working at WVU Innovation Corporation at the time of his met the love of his life and wife of 14 years, Courtney Teets Boland, their first weekend at Bethany College. He proposed after graduation, married two years later and they have been inseparable ever since. Recently, they became foster a passionate community supporter, Chris served many organizations in college including Big Brothers Big Sisters, Parkinson Forest Trail System and many Greek Life service projects. After college he served as treasurer of several clubs including Mon Valley Homeless Initiative. While living in the DC area, he actively supported the local Leukemia and Lymphoma Chapter, Rotary, Salvation Army, Friends of Mount Vernon Trail, and Northern Virginia Community College service projects. Upon his return to Morgantown, he quickly joined the Downtown Rotary Club and the Greenmont Neighborhood Association, where he currently served as president and co-president respectively. He also supported Morgantown NOW, Mon River Trails and was a coach for Girls on the also enjoyed sustainable living, gardening (especially starting the Greenmont Community Garden), kickball (Naughty Yachties, oy oy oy), trail cleanups, hiking, dogs, and mostly cycling. He enjoyed all aspects of cycling from bike maintenance to training for races to just talking about addition to his wife and parents, Chris is survived by his brothers, Bill (Anna), Mick (May), and Pat Boland; his in-laws, Marvin and Cindy Teets, Joshua (Shelby) Teets, and Meghan (Kevin) Likens; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, colleagues, close friends and the entire cycling Funeral Home has been entrusted with cremation and family are invited to attend a Celebration of Life Friday, July 18, at the Dorsey's Knob Park Pavillion, Fawley Lane, Morgantown. Bethany College names new president
LINDSBORG, Kan. (KSNW) – Bethany College announced the appointment of Laura Crawley as its next president on Thursday. Crawley, who holds a doctorate in Women's Studies from Emory University, will be the 16th president in the Lutheran college's history. She was most recently Vice President of Mission, Engagement, and Innovation at Lenoir-Rhyne University. 'The college's strong values of faith, service, and academic excellence deeply resonate with my commitment to supporting students and fostering growth,' Crawley said in a news release. 'I look forward to collaborating with faculty, staff, students, and alumni as we build on Bethany's proud history and look toward a bright future. I am also thrilled to become a part of the Lindsborg community, which has so much to offer in terms of culture and spirit.' In a statement, the school called Crawley a distinguished leader in higher education who 'brings a wealth of experience in academic leadership, student engagement, and institutional growth.'
