Hampton City School (HSC) officials said Strand fills many rolls at the school on top of her job as an instructor, including serving as a mentor teacher to help support her colleagues and serving as the school's Mathematics instructional lead person. 'Mrs. Strand has embraced the new reading series and provided support to new and seasoned teachers,' HSC said. 'She expertly created learning documents and calendars to help guide teachers better access to recourses to ensure that learning is meaningful and engaging for all.' Strand not only works to ensure her fellow colleagues are supported, but also utilizes innovative teaching methods to help keep her students engaged in the lessons. She is said to use differentiation in her teaching methods in order to meet students where they are at individually. 'Mrs. Strand's unwavering dedication to her students, her innovative teaching methods, and her passion for making learning fun and engaging make her an exceptional educator,' HSC said. Heather Woodruff is a 10-12th grade business and information technology teacher at Bethel High School. HSC said Woodruff works hard to ensure her students have the experience and knowledge needed for their futures. Woodruff also works as the lead of the TrAIL academy (The Academy of Transportation, Analytics, Information, and Logistics) and the administrator of the Chick-fil-A Leader Academy Program. Some of the additional experiences she helps to provide to students include guest speakers, field trips and job shadowing. All of Woodruff's hard work inside and outside of the classroom led to her being honored as Bethel High School's Teacher of the Year. 'It is her personal mission to ensure every student graduates from Bethel High School with a positive sense of self and purpose,' HSC said. 'She works hard to impart those skills that our industry partners deem necessary in today's marketplace; such as communication and collaboration.' Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc.
