Better Homes & Gardens presenter Clarissa Feildel shares her delicious recipe for curry puffs
Clarissa Feildel is a TV presenter and cook. Clarissa is a regular presenter on 'Better Homes & Gardens. She's also the wife of Manu Feildel. Today, Clarissa is making curry puffs which are her mum Mona's recipe. These curry puffs are filled with chicken and potatoes. Recipe below: Mona's (my mum's) Curry puffs (Puff Pastry) Makes 12 This is one of the most popular snacks/ appetisers in Malaysia. It is made in many different casing. Some are much more time consuming than others. Puff pastry is readily available and is just as impressive. A little filling goes a long way. If you are entertaining, it can be made ahead of time. Ingredients 300 grms chicken breast (diced into ½ inch cubes) 300 grms red ruby potatoes (diced into ½ inch cubes) 3 hard boiled eggs sliced into quarters 3 sheets of good quality puff pastry 1 large brown onion(roughly chopped) 2 stalk curry leaves 5 tablespoon curry powder (I use Baba's meat curry powder) made into a thick paste 1 cinnamon stick 2 star anise 4 cloves 4-5 tablespoon oil 2 tablespoons soy sauce(optional) 1 tbs chilli powder (optional) 1-2 tbs lime juice 1tbs sugar 1 egg ½ cup water Salt to taste Filling Bring to boil diced potatoes in 2 litres of salted water. Switch off heat and cover for 10-15min or till you can poke a fork through one of the dice potatoes. Drain and set aside to cool down. Heat oil in a skillet or wok over medium heat. Add cinnamon stick, cloves and star anise. Fry for 30 seconds then add curry leaves. Wail till its starts to pop a little then Add finely chopped onion and cook until softened. Add curry paste and and fry for a minute then add diced chicken and continue stirring and cooking for a couple minutes until all is mixed thoroughly. Add chilli powder here if you are adding any. Add soy sauce, salt and sugar. Add a little water and fry until the chicken and fry for another 5 minutes. Then add potatoes. Simmer till the chicken is cooked. Preheat the oven to 200°C and line a tray with baking paper Remove the puff pastry from the refrigerator and unfold it on a flat surface. Let it rest for 2-3 minutes. Meanwhile, prepare the egg wash by whisking together one egg with a tablespoon of water. Add lime juice and more salt or sugar if needed. Set aside to let it cool down. Cut that in the middle horizontally and then vertically to yield 4 equal squares. Place two tablespoons of the filling mixture into the centre of each square and ¼ of the hard boiled egg. Brush the edges with the egg wash. Picking up one corner of the pastry, fold over the filling to make a triangle. Press the edges to seal them. Use a fork to crimp the edges. Brush egg wash on each triangular parcel. Bake in oven for around 15 mins or till golden brown.

My Expensive-Looking Walmart Patio Set Is Currently On Sale For Even Less Than I Paid
When my partner and I moved into an apartment with a balcony, agreeing on how to decorate was a challenge. The one thing we could agree on: our perfect patio set needed to be under $300 — but it couldn't look cheap. Also, it needed to be comfortable for lounging, eating, and even working from home. Walmart To our surprise, we landed on a charming, neutral-hued rattan Better Homes & Gardens set-up from Walmart of all places. This three-piece set includes two wicker bistro chairs and a wicker-top bistro table, and I couldn't be more pleased. When we snagged it, the set retailed for $250, but it is currently less than $200. After nearly a year of use, this set has stood up to the elements and still looks timeless, elegant, and brand new. Given the competitive price, I was worried that it would look and feel dinky or cheap, but after four seasons, I am confident in this purchase. The set was specially designed to be weather-resilient and durable, and I can attest to the fact that it's both incredibly sturdy and super comfortable — no squeezing bums into too-small seats here. The frames are made with ultra-strong, rust-resistant steel and wrapped in cute all-weather wicker. The cushions are decked out in fade-resistant polyester fabric with 50% recycled material that can easily be machine-washed. I've washed them several times, and they come out looking like new each time. Before buying, my concerns were both aesthetic and practical. I worried a wicker set could look too cutesy or too small to comfortably seat us both at the same time. I was hoping to find a vintage wrought iron set on Etsy, but the options were slim and too expensive. My partner and I have different design tastes, and it's a feat to find furniture that meets in the middle. In the end, this wicker set was the perfect compromise. Because the table and chairs are so hefty and well-made, they don't feel like they've come straight from your grandmother's house in Florida. It's an updated version of old-school wicker furniture. Reviewers commented being pleasantly surprised by the size and sturdiness of the set, noting the table is bigger than it seems in pictures. It is slightly larger than I thought it would be, but it doesn't crowd the balcony in the slightest. The table is large enough for us to have dinner or use our laptops at the same time. It's our favorite place to have morning coffee, work from home, and enjoy dinner on a warm evening. The neutral hues keep things subtle and classic and don't clash with the vibrancy of our potted plants and urban garden. It was also easy to put together and didn't cause an Ikea-level couple fight. As balcony season returns, I'm happy to say the Better Homes & Gardens bistro set is a fantastic investment, especially considering it is so well-priced. I would buy it again in a heartbeat and am still amazed at the fact that we found it at Walmart. Who knew it had such stylish furniture? If you're on the hunt for a new patio set — let's be twins. Keep reading to check out some glowing reviews of this three-piece wicker patio set. Promising reviews: Walmart 'I am so happy with this patio set. It took me about an hour to put together by myself. The instructions were easy to read, the parts were marked or the picture clearly described them, and they even sent a nice little tool to put it all together with! They are comfortable and sturdy, and the best thing about them is that my 6'5', 215-pound husband can sit in them without them disappearing or him looking like he's sitting at a kid's table! Would absolutely buy again!' — Debbie 'I bought this for our covered front porch which is on the smaller side. The chairs are comfortable, this set was easy to put together, and I love the look of it.' — Heather 'I was happily surprised that these pieces are well-made, sturdy, and have great back support. The cushions are also very nice and thick. The table was larger than I was expecting, which is great, so that there is room to have a meal. The assembly was OK, could've been better, could've been worse. Overall, this is great and I am looking forward to using it! ' — Allie 'I bought this set for my outdoor balcony, and it is so pretty that I am using it as an indoor bistro set instead! It was easy to assemble. I would definitely recommend this set for outdoor or indoor use.' — Beth ' Absolutely love this furniture set! It's super cute, and the neutral colors are aesthetically pleasing. Comfortable to sit in and easy to put together. I would recommend having your own tools because the tool did break after the table and first chair were put together.' — Cassandra

This New Netflix Movie Is a Love Letter to Mothers, Grandmothers, and Family Recipes
Of all the fond memories you carry from childhood, food probably plays a starring role in many of them. Whether you have family recipes you still make today or you make a point of gathering with friends and family over large meals, food can bring us all together in a wholly unique—and near-universal—way, no matter how long it's been since you were last together or whether some of your loved ones have passed on. Food and family and togetherness are all linked, a sentiment upcoming film Nonnas celebrates in every scene. Based on the true story of Joe Scaravella and Enoteca Maria, an eatery on New York City's Staten Island, Nonnas stars Vince Vaughn as Joe, a man who has lost his mother and grandmother but who finds comfort in preparing the Italian recipes they left behind (even if he doesn't know all the secret ingredients). Joe decides to celebrate those he has lost by opening a restaurant in their memory, and he recruits a team of local older women—the titular nonnas, which is Italian for grandmothers—as cooks. It's not a smooth path to success for Joe and his chefs, but the movie celebrates every step of the journey, with plenty of scrumptious shots of tomatoes, noodles, and sauces along the way. (Seriously—this movie will have you craving Italian food from the start.) Nonnas writer Liz Maccie lost her mother about a decade ago, and the movie is an 'incredible love letter to my family,' she tells Better Homes & Gardens. At the same time, it's a movie about found family, grief, legacy, and amazing food, with plenty of laughs layered in for good measure. '[Liz] really wrote it from the heart, and that transferred onto the page,' says actor Lorraine Bracco, who plays one of the nonnas in the film. 'And that was special. That was very, very moving. I laughed and I cried when I read it.' Related: 9 Healthy Italian Recipes That Don't Skimp on Flavor The emphasis on family spoke to the movie's stars. 'I called it my Jimmy Stewart movie, because it was so loving. It was so emotional, everything was about love and giving,' says actor Brenda Vaccaro, who plays another nonna and chef. And for actor Joe Manganiello, who plays Vaughn's friend in the movie, the focus specifically on Italian legacy offered another layer of meaning. 'I have very fond memories of my Sicilian grandma,' he says. 'I thought about her a lot while I was filming this.' Related: 24 of Our Favorite and Most Delicious Classic Italian Recipes Watching the movie is sure to make you think about your own family, and the recipes they've passed down to you. Hopefully, it'll encourage you to make sure you can pass those recipes down, too. 'A lot of families, they don't write [recipes] down,' says director Stephen Chbosky, who is also married to writer Liz Maccie. 'And I hope the film changes that. I hope everybody sees the film and obviously orders Italian food, or makes Italian food, and then says, 'All right, mom, whoever, sit down and write it all down, because I want to bring with me.'' As an ode to mothers and grandmothers, family recipes, shared meals, and incredible Italian food, Nonnas truly has something for everyone. And with its May 9 release date falling just before Mother's Day, it's the perfect movie to watch with your mom (or grandmother, or children). Just make sure you eat a good meal before you press play. In addition to Vaughn, Manganiello, Bracco, and Vaccaro, Nonnas stars Susan Sarandon, Linda Cardellini, Talia Shire, and Drea de Matteo. Nonnas is available to stream on Netflix starting May 9.
