Beyoncé recently launched her Cowboy Carter Tour, which celebrates and promotes the album of the same name. This week, on the Billboard charts, Cowboy Carter gains dramatically, fueled by a surge in interest, which follows extensive media coverage and countless videos and photos that have been shared by attendees. Billboard compared Cowboy Carter's stream count in the days leading up to the launch of the tour with the three days immediately after it began. Excitement around the trek reached a viral peak during that time, as visuals from the set and the setlist circulated widely online. The outpouring of posts prompted what may have been millions of listeners to revisit the project. The music magazine notes that between April 25 and 27, Cowboy Carter earned 4.7 million streams on major platforms like Spotify and Apple Music. From April 29 through May 1 — just after the tour kicked off on April 28 — the total number of plays soared to a little more than 10 million. That's a 116% increase in under a week. The current tracking week reflected on the Billboard charts includes data from Friday, April 25 through Thursday, May 1. By that point, the Cowboy Carter Tour was underway, and now it's clear to see just how popular the album has become again thanks to the beginning of the venture. Cowboy Carter jumps on all three Billboard rankings where it appears. It returns to the top 10 on the Top Americana/Folk Albums chart, landing at No. 8. It also nearly reenters the uppermost tier on the Top Country Albums tally, where it sits just a few spots beneath that space, and it could break back in within just a few days. The Grammy-winning collection gains the most ground on the Billboard 200, skyrocketing from No. 193 to No. 64. Luminate reports that total consumption of the title — combining both streams and sales — grew by 73% week-over-week, with the full-length racking up 14,500 equivalent units. Beyoncé's album will likely continue to perform well on the rankings in the coming weeks, though it may decline slightly, as much of the excitement comes at the beginning of the tour, when many people were reminded to give Cowboy Carter another listen.
