The Young and the Restless spoilers: what is Aristotle's real motive?
When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. One of the biggest mysteries in all of daytime TV right now is the identity of The Young and the Restless' Aristotle Dumas. Sure, there are questions swirling around who's been trying to kill Sonny (Maurice Benard) on General Hospital, and what Martin (Brandon Claybon) has been hiding on Beyond the Gates, but the real person behind Aristotle Dumas is arguably bigger than those for one simple reason in our eyes — Victor (Eric Braeden). It's been teased that the successful Aristotle is the only one who has been able to go toe-to-toe with The Great Victor Newman in business, and those are bragging rights no one really has the pleasure of having. Plus, Aristotle has managed to impact every major family in town, and yet, no one seems to know what he's up to. They don't know what he's after, who he's after and why he's inserting himself in the Genoa City corporate world. Zeroing in on this last point, what is Aristotle's real motive? That's a question we've given some real thought to. Most people don't go around provoking Victor, because whether you like him or not, he's a masterful tactician and has a knack for usually coming out on top. So doing anything to prompt Victor to do so much as raise an eyebrow is dangerous. According to Billy (Jason Thompson), Aristotle allegedly has a vested interest in acquiring Chancellor to get one up on Victor. However, this seems like a lofty goal for Aristotle just to say he beat The Newman patriarch. Not only is the company huge, but we're still having a hard time imagining the complexities it would take to steal Chancellor from The Mustache. When Victor took it from Billy, he technically bought the company from the owner, Billy's mom Jill (Jess Walton). We don't envision Victor just stripping the business from Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) and handing it to Aristotle, nor do we see a plan yet for how Aristotle could launch a hostile takeover. Again, because of this, we picture Aristotle would have to jump through a lot of hoops just to tell Victor, 'I beat you.' Now if Aristotle turns out to be Tucker, then Aristotle's motivation to get Chancellor makes sense. Chancellor was the corporate baby of Tucker's mom, and he's been trying to acquire it for years to preserve a legacy for Devon (Bryton James). Plus, we imagine Tucker is still livid with Victor for working with Audra (Zuleyka Silver) to steal Glissade. Even if Aristotle is Cane, it makes sense for him to want Chancellor if he wants it to make a grand gesture to win Lily (Christel Khalil) back. After all, Aristotle has been doing some digging into Winters, but was that fact-finding mission more about Lily herself? But with The Young and the Restless writers opting to bring back blasts from the past lately, we have to think that Aristotle's gripe with Victor is both deeply personal and from yesteryear. If writers can bring back storylines involving Cameron Kirsten (Linden Ashby) and Eve Howard (Margaret Mason) via Jordan (Colleen Zenk) and Claire (Hayley Erin), we have to consider that Aristotle could be a member of the Prentiss family. In the early days of The Young and the Restless, the Prentiss family was one of the core clans of Genoa City and had a corporation that Victor once stole. Lucas Prentiss (Tom Ligon) came up with a scheme to get it back, in which Lorie Brooks (Jaime Lyn Bauer) seduced Victor and convinced him to marry her. Then, right before the wedding, she got Victor to sign over the company to her so she could get it to the Prentiss family. Lucas wound up leaving town, but could he return, still peeved by Victor's actions decades ago and hoping to go after Victor? Anything is possible. With summer around the corner, we just hope the real Aristotle surfaces. We don't want all the mystery surrounding this enigma carrying into the fall. New episodes of The Young and the Restless air weekdays on CBS. Episodes become available to stream on Paramount Plus the next day.

Hoda Kotb Addresses Rumor She's Replacing Kelly Clarkson on Daytime Show
During a Wednesday-morning return visit to NBC's Today, Hoda Kotb cleared the air on a rumor that's been swirling — that she is in queue to 'take over' The Kelly Clarkson Show if the American Idol alum decides to wrap her daytime run in 2026. Rumors of Clarkson's potential departure began swirling in March, when she missed several tapings of The Kelly Clarkson Show due to a personal matter; at the time, a carousel of other celebrities filled in as host, but Clarkson's absence was never addressed directly on the series. Then, in April, the New York Post reported that Clarkson hoped to leave the series when her contract was up, though there was no comment from either Clarkson's team or series producer NBCUniversal at the time. More from TVLine General Hospital Recasts Michael: Former Y&R Actor Rory Gibson Replaces Chad Duell Beyond the Gates Recasts Ted: First Look at Keith D. Robinson's Debut, Replacing Maurice Johnson Beyond the Gates Renewed for Season 2 at CBS Confronted by Today's Craig Melvin with the rumor on Wednesday morning, Kotb — who famously left Today in January to spend more time with her children — chuckled and then set the record straight. Addressing both Melvin and Savannah Guthrie, she said, 'I want to ask you all a real question: Do you think, if I ever came back to TV…. Do you know where the only place I would ever come back to is? Right here' on Today, she asserted. 'This is the spot. There's no place like home.' 'So the rumors are done?' asked Melvin. 'Delete, delete — not true,' Kotb insisted. Kotb served as a co-anchor of NBC's Today from 2018 to January 2025, when she departed the morning news program to spend more time with her family. 'I had my kiddos late in life, and I was thinking that they deserve a bigger piece of my time pie,' she told her Today colleagues in September 2024, when she announced her decision to leave. 'We only have a finite amount of time.' It has since been detailed one of Kotb's children, 6-year-old Hope, is living with type 1 diabetes. 'I really wanted to and needed to be here to watch over her. So whenever she needs anything, and it can happen at night, multiple times, I'm up — I'm up up up,' she explains in a new People cover story. 'But I would never, ever want Hope to one day grow up and say, 'Oh, my mom left her job because [of me].' It wasn't that alone. But if you look at it cumulatively, it was a part of that decision.' Weekend Update Joke Swap Sees Michael Che Atone For Scarlett Johansson Joke As Colin Jost Comes For Lorne Michaels' Throne: 'Retire B*tch'
Co-anchors Colin Jost and Michael Che were in for a treat tonight with Saturday Night Live Season 50's final joke swap, which saw the latter atone for his midseason finale joke at the expense of host Scarlett Johansson and the former coming for creator/executive producer Lorne Michaels' throne. The long-held Weekend Update tradition kicked off with a bang, as Che's first (previously unseen) quip for Jost included a jab at Michaels: 'But before we start, it's SNL's 50th season, so I want to take a moment to say something to our boss, Lorne Michaels. Lorne, retire bitch! Let me run the show.' More from Deadline 'Saturday Night Live' Opens With 'Fake' Donald Trump Defending Qatar's 'Gift' Of A Jumbo Jet — An Hour After The Real POTUS Did The Same 'SNL's Weekend Update Sees Triumphant Return Of Ego Nwodim's Crowd-Pleasing Alter Ego Miss Eggy (No FCC Slip-Ups This Time) 'Saturday Night Live' Wraps Season 50 With No Cast Goodbyes In Finale As NBC Series Prepares For Departures Per tradition, a majority of Jost's jokes penned by Che get him to say exceedingly racist things, while Che's prewritten material paints him as a misogynist and/or pervert. Jost kicked things off with more jabs at CBS' Beyond the Gates, the first all-Black daytime soap opera, saying, 'it'll air when Black people are home from work, 24 hours a day,' continuing that 'since you [the audience] liked that, here's another.' He added, 'It's called, 'All My Children Don't Know Who Their Daddy Is.'' Che's jokes meanwhile claimed he was bothered by rowdiness at A Minecraft Movie because he was 'trying to masturbate' and that he hasn't been that excited for a film 'since I saw a white woman's drink unattended.' Meanwhile, Jost's next joke read, 'A new study finds that the hoots and grunts of Bonobos shows signs of complex thoughts similar to human language. Oh, so like that awful halftime show?' An image of Kendrick Lamar on stage then flashed on screen as Jost finished reading. Transitioning, Che called Johansson up to the stage 'to apologize to someone I hurt' with 'tasteless jokes' comparing her vagina to Costco's roast beef sandwich during last year's Christmas joke swap. 'The fact is, I was just lashing out because I'm jealous. I've never even seen a human vagina. And notice I said 'human' because I once spent the summer on a farm. You feel me?' Che began, turning to Johansson for a high five, which she naturally did not return. 'Maybe I'm just embarrassed about my own body; I can't even take my hoodie off during sex because I have more nipples than a pregnant dog,' he added, unable to resist from breaking. Che continued, 'Colin, I'm sorry too, because I owe you everything. When Colin discovered me, I was selling crack outside the Bronx Zoo,' bursting into laughter. 'Now look at me: selling crack outside the American Girl doll store. I've told thousands of jokes on Update and gotten dozens of laughs, but I've never said the three most important words of all: I love you.' In an abrupt change seemingly going nowhere, Jost then uttered one of the more egregious jokes of the night, with a tee-up of the Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr being 'here with his family.' Jost said, 'I love Steve, I like Nick, but I wouldn't say I'm a Nick Kerr lover.' 'Seems beside the point Colin, but sure,' Che added. Jost closed out Weekend Update with this: 'Some psychologists say adults can reduce stress by returning to a childhood hobby, which is why I returned to my favorite childhood hobby: topping off priests with my pretty little mouth.' As the audience exclaimed, an offscreen hand prompted Jost to put on red lipstick, which the co-host gamely did, saying, 'Lorne, I'll do anything to run this show.' Beyond the Gates Renewed for Season 2 at CBS
Beyond the Gates will lather up for a second season at CBS. The good news comes 11 weeks after the launch of the first new daytime drama in 25 years, and just hours after CBS touted that its daytime slate — led by The Price Is Right, The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful — has reigned at No. 1 for a whopping 39 consecutive seasons. More from TVLine Lupin Renewed for Part 4 at Netflix The Hunting Party Among 2 Renewals at NBC Watson Season 1 Ends With a Crucial Fatality - Read Finale Recap Since its Feb. 24 debut, Beyond the Gates has improved its time period by 48% in broadcast viewership, while its multiplatform viewership is up 67% in multiplatform. Additionally, its broadcast audience draws 7% more Women 25-54 than ABC's long-running General Hospital. Beyond the Gates is set in a leafy Maryland suburb just outside of Washington, D.C., in one the most affluent African American counties in the United States. 'At the center of this community are the Duprees, a powerful and prestigious multi-generational family that is the very definition of Black royalty,' says the official synopsis. 'But behind these pristine walls and lush, manicured gardens are juicy secrets and scandals waiting to be uncovered. And those who live outside these gates are watching closely.' Tamara Tunie (As the World Turns, Law & Order: SVU) stars as Anita Dupree, the family matriarch who worked hard for her success while raising two daughters with her now-retired senator husband Vernon (Madam Secretary's Clifton Davis). Karla Mosley's Dani Dupree is one of Anita's daughters, while Daphnee Duplaix (One Life to Live) plays the other, Dr. Nicole Dupree Richardson. Beyond the Gates airs on CBS weekdays at 2 pm ET/1 pm PT, while streaming of the series is available on Paramount+ and CBS TVE ( app).
