Rupali Ganguly reacts to top court order: Care for stray dogs, don't exile them
'Anupamaa' star Rupali Ganguly has reacted to the Supreme Court's directive for the removal of stray dogs from Delhi and Delhi NCR to shelters. The directives were issued in an effort to address increasing dog bite incidents and the spread of rabies. Rupali Ganguly, a popular television actor, responded with a plea to reconsider the approach towards stray dogs. Reacting to the Supreme Court order, she wrote on X, "In our traditions, dogs guard Bhairav Baba's temple and are fed on Amavasya for blessings. They've grown up on our streets, guarding shops, waiting outside our doors, barking away thieves."advertisementGanguly also expressed concerns about the impact of removing these animals from their usual habitats. She said, "If we remove them now, we risk losing our protectors before the real dangers arrive, like silencing an alarm before a fire. Sending them to far-off shelters isn't kindness, it's exile." The actor further added, "Stray dogs aren't outsiders; they're part of our faith, our culture, our safety. Care for them, vaccinate them, feed them and let them live where they belong."The Supreme Court on Monday directed civic authorities in Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) to immediately catch and sterilise stray dogs and relocate them permanently to shelters. In a stern directive, the court said the order must be implemented without top court specified that if any individual or organisation opposed the process, it would proceed to take action against any such resistance, noting that immediate steps are necessary to address the menace of dog bites leading to rabies.- EndsTune InMust Watch

Bell thief, his aide arrested in Kaushambi
1 2 Prayagraj: A bell thief, wanted by police in three districts including Kaushambi, Prayagraj and Mirzapur, was arrested after an encounter with Kaushambi police late on Thursday night. The thief, identified as Arvind Kumar Bind (25), a resident of Jigna, was injured and arrested by police in an encounter near Durgapur village and was admitted to the district hospital for treatment. Wanted in connection with over four dozen bell theft cases, Arvind and his accomplices used to target temples for brass bells, idols, and crowns located in rural areas of the district and having no CCTV surveillance. Arvind and his accomplices used to visit temples to offer prayers during the day and execute thefts at night. They used to carry fake ID proof (with their own photos and different names) to dodge people, if caught. Police also managed to arrest his accomplice, identified as Ayodhya Prasad, a resident of Bagera Kala (Mirzapur). Cops have also seized 12 stolen bells, two country-made pistols of 0.315 bore along with four live and three used cartridges, two cutters, four fake Aadhaar cards, one bike, and other apparatus from their possession. Deputy SP (Chail) Abhishek Singh told TOI, "The arrested notorious thief Arvind started targeting temples in rural pockets of three districts to lift brass-made bells after acknowledging that he could get better prices for these brass bells. " He further added, "While carrying out recee of these temples, the bell thief preferred those temples where devotees install or donate bells to get their wishes fulfilled." Cops became active against the gang involved in bell theft after registering two separate FIRs with Kokhraj and Pipri police stations when unknown persons stole bells from the ancient Goddess Kali temple at village Nanmai and the ancient Bhairav Baba temple at village Saidpur Durgapur under the limits of Kokhraj and Pipri police stations on July 17 and July 25 respectively. A team of Pipri police, acting upon a specific tip-off that two members of an inter-district bell-stealing gang were spotted near Bhairav Baba temple late on Thursday night, cordoned the area and challenged the thieves. When police chased them, one of them opened fire on the police party, and the police, in retaliation, also fired and left one criminal injured while his accomplice managed to escape. Police, however, managed to arrest him after a combing operation and seized a large cache of stolen bells. The gang members were also involved in lifting idols and crowns of deities.
