Anomalies in Tulabaram donations: TTD member
TIRUPATI: BJP State spokesperson and Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Trust Board member Bhanuprakash Reddy on Monday filed a complaint alleging misappropriation of donations collected under Tulabaram at Tirumala temple between 2019 and 2024. In his complaint to the Tirupati Superintendent of Police, Bhanuprakash alleged that a contract worker managing the Tulabaram ritual inside the temple failed to deposit the collected donations into TTD accounts. He accused the contract employee, allegedly supported by temple officials, of misappropriating over 50% of the donations daily, amounting to several lakhs of rupees and totaling crores over time. He charged that the temple staff, in collusion with others, committed criminal breach of trust by misusing the funds donated by devotees of Lord Venkateswara. Bhanuprakash also claimed that the State Vigilance and Enforcement Department's recent inquiry into TTD affairs did not cover the Tulabaram issue. He said complaints received by the TTD during the period were ignored and discarded without action. Tulabaram is an age-old ritual in which devotees donate goods, groceries, ornaments, or crops equivalent to their body weight.

DD Next Level makers remove song lines after legal controversy
Filmmaker and actor Santhanam's upcoming movie 'DD Next Level' has edited out controversial lines from the song 'Kissa 47' after they sparked legal trouble. The lyrics 'Govinda hari Govinda. Parking Kas'u Govinda, Popcorn Tax'u Govinda, Heroine Nadippu Govinda, and Fans Oda Nelama Govinda' drew backlash from the government, prompting the makers to make the necessary notice mentioned that the song deeply hurts religious sentiments. The film has also obtained a certificate after censoring, clearing its way for the film got into legal trouble after Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) board member and BJP leader Bhanuprakash Reddy served a defamation notice to Santhanam and Telugu production house Niharika Entertainments. He demanded Rs100 crore in compensation if the controversial lines weren't removed from the song. Jana Sena Party in-charge Kiran Royal met Tamil Nadu leader of opposition Edappadi Palaniswami, urging him to talk about the issue. However, the film has landed in controversy, as Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) board member and politician Bhanuprakash Reddy has sent a legal notice to Santhanam and the producers of the movie, amidst concerns over the inclusion of the devotional track 'Srinivasa Govinda' in the film's rap number ' Kissa 47'. WFV's initiative to quench thirst of animals, birds
TIRUPATI: For the first time in Tirupati city, an initiative was taken up to quench the thirst of animals and birds in hot summer by supplying cement water bowls to be placed on balconies, terraces and other places. The initiative was launched by an NGO Animal Care Land with the support of Bengaluru-based organisation WFV (water for voiceless) to provide water for stray animals and birds. Some Jain community philanthropists were instrumental in providing the service in association with the two NGOs and 62 animal and bird lovers in the temple city. They brought 180 specially designed cement water bowls of various sizes from Vellore. Tamil Nadu Animal Care Land has appealed to the people as 'Dear community animal feeders and fellow animal lovers as summer approaches, community animals like stray dogs, cats, birds, cows and wildlife struggle to find clean drinking water. We, the team of Animal Care Land, along with 'Water for Voiceless' are conducting a free water bowl distribution drive for stray animals.' Water for Voiceless (WFV) is a Bengaluru based NGO founded by Jain Sunny Hastimal from Tumkuru in 2015. WFV is a Pan India initiative that successively distributed more than 1,00,000 water bowls for thirsty animals & birds during the summer. TTD Board member and also animal lover Bhanuprakash Reddy said, 'it is a fundamental duty of every citizen to provide drinking water and food for all animals in our vicinity in order to avoid man -animal conflict'. Supriya, representative of WFV (Bengaluru) said, 'Volunteers must take responsibility for refreshing the water regularly which is very important to address the concerns over mosquito breeding.' Dr NV Sreekanth Babu, AD, Animal Husbandry speaking to TNIE emphasised that as the temperature raises stray dogs will get alterations in temperament due to lack of water which may increase incidence of dog bites. 'Therefore everyone has to come forward to provide water to stray dogs and birds. It is an act of humanity. We are encouraging many volunteers who always working for animals and birds conservation,' he said. 'We plan to extend the initiative in a phased manner based on resources availability,' Dr Sreekanth revealed. He lauded the involvement of Dr Yagna Valkya,Veterinary Officer of Animal Care Land, and local animal lovers Sangeetha Babu, Jagan, Dr Kusuma, Radhika who are supporting the thirst quenching initiative enthusiastically.
