DRG jawan killed, three injured in IED blast in Bijapur
Raipur: A District Reserve Guard (DRG) jawan was killed and three others injured in an IED blast triggered by Maoists in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh's Bastar division on Monday morning.
The incident took place in the forests of Ulloor valley near Bhopalpattanam, when security personnel were engaged in an anti-Naxal operation in the Indravati National Park area.
According to police officials, the team was marching on foot when one of the jawans accidentally stepped on a pressure-activated IED planted by Maoists. The explosion killed Dinesh Nag, 38, a DRG jawan, who succumbed to injuries during evacuation despite efforts by CRPF personnel.
The three injured—Bharat Dheer, Payku Hemla, and Mundru Kawasi—were shifted to Bijapur district hospital and were stated to be out of danger.
Following the blast, reinforcements were rushed to the site, and a combing operation has been launched in the area.
Later in the day, a guard of honour was accorded to Dinesh Nag at Shaheed Vatika in Bijapur police lines by Bastar IG P Sundarraj and CRPF officials. Bijapur collector Sambit Mishra, senior police officers, local representatives including MLA Vikram Mandavi, and hundreds of residents were present at the event.

Recently on Aug 14, a DRG personnel suffered injuries in an IED blast triggered by Maoists in the same area of Indravati National Park in Bijapur district
Bijapur and Narayanpur districts in Bastar division have been heavily mined with IEDs and most of the recent incidents causing life threatening damage to security personnel, civilians and children, were reported from these districts. Though face-off with Maoists and ambushes across Bastar division has plunged, yet the IEDs are still a major concern.
The security personnel have been asked to be cautious when they are out carrying out operations, indulging in de-mining and IED detection activities, officials said.
