Bharat Telecom 2025: India emerges as hub of telecom manufacturing, network innovation

NEW DELHI: The Telecom Equipment and Services Export Promotion Council (TEPC), in collaboration with the Department of Telecommunications ( DoT ), organised the 22nd edition of the two-day Bharat Telecom Event 2025 between May 6, 2025, and May 7, 2025, to support the country's vision of becoming a global hub for telecom manufacturing, services, and exports. The event was inaugurated by Jyotiraditya Scindia , Minister of Communications and Development of North Eastern Region, in the presence of Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani , Minister of State for Communications, senior government officials, telecom industry leaders, foreign delegates, and innovators. 'Bharat Telecom is not just a conference — it is a declaration of India's intent to shape the future of global connectivity through innovation, collaboration and inclusive growth,' Scindia said while inaugurating the conference. 'When ideas, innovation and intent come together in harmony, they create not a cacophony, but a symphony — and Bharat Telecom is that symphony of global collaboration and opportunity,' he had said. The union minister also discussed the Centre's plan to roll-out a $4 billion investment plan to connect every village and attain 100% telecom connectivity saturation, the mulit-billion dollar invested in the deployment of fifth-generation (5G) networks, mobile phone production in India, and Apple's strategy to source all iPhones from the country. "The PLI scheme for telecom and network products has catalysed domestic manufacturing hubs. This policy has attracted investment worth ₹4,000 crores, generated sales of more than ₹80,000 crores, and created substantial employment opportunities while building self-reliance in critical telecom equipment for the country," Pemmsani, in turn, said at the Bharat Telecom 2025 event. Arnob Roy , Chairman, TEPC, in his welcome address said, "Bharat Telecom showcases the transformative power of India's indigenous telecom ecosystem, highlighting our unparalleled growth and innovation in the global telecom industry." Roy said that the Indian government's strategic policies have fostered innovation and manufacturing in the telecom sector. Bharat Telecom 2025 included multiple panel discussions with panelists deliberating and discussing themes such as ' Telecom API Economy ', ' Private Networks for Industry 4.0 ', and ' Next-Gen Broadband: The Catalyst for a Digital Leap '. Parallelly, the event also held the Bharat Telecom Exhibition 2025, which included homegrown vendors and services firms Tejas Network, HFCL , C-DOT, Sensorise, GX Group, XS Infosol, Huber+Suhner, Indio Networks, Niral Networks, Astrome, INVAS Technologies, Sparsh CCTV, and others. It also featured thematic exhibitions, high-impact business-to-business (B2B) meetings, strategic networking sessions and knowledge-sharing forums focusing on cutting-edge communication technologies such as 5G, optical fibre, broadband infrastructure, satellite communication, Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI)-driven networks, and more. The event saw proactive international participation, with more than 134 foreign delegates from over 35 countries, representing government bodies, private enterprises, vendors, and innovative firms.
