Delhi's BJP govt completes 100 days, releases ‘workbook'; CM Rekha Gupta takes dig at ‘meva khane wali sarkar'

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led Delhi government completed its first 100 days of governance in the national capital on Saturday, May 31. On the occasion, the Delhi government released a 'workbook', highlighting important public welfare initiatives launched so far under Rekha Gupta's chief ministership. "On the completion of 100 days of service of the BJP government in Delhi, a workbook was released, which includes details of the major achievements so far and future plans," Delhi CM Rekha Gupta posted on X. She said, "Important steps like the expansion of the Ayushman Bharat scheme, Yamuna cleaning campaign and Mahila Samridhi Yojana are a reflection of these 100 days of service." Rekha Gupta was sworn in as Delhi's Chief Minister on February 20, 2025. The BJP formed the government in the national capital after 27 years by winning 48 seats in the Delhi Assembly elections, pushing the the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) into the opposition with 22 seats. The Congress failed to win a single seat for the third consecutive time. The Delhi government's workbook titled "Kam karne wali Sarkar-100 din seva ke" was released by CM Rekha Gupta along with her cabinet ministers Ashish Sood and Kapil Mishra. The book highlighted the government's key initiatives across the health, education, infrastructure and welfare sectors. These include budget allocation for implementing the Ayushman Bharat Scheme, a ₹ 51,000 crore provision for the Mahila Samman Yojana, a monthly assistance scheme for poor women. The workbook highlighted measures such as the Yamuna cleaning plan, street lights, Vay Vandana Yojana, setting up Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, and flagging DEVI buses. 'Meva khane wali sarkar' & 'seva karne wali sarkar' On completing 100 days of the Delhi government, CM Rekha Gupta said, "We are very happy and satisfied that the rights the people of Delhi deserve are being delivered with full dedication by the government. And surely, as Viksit Bharat progresses, Viksit Delhi will also progress and witness significant development." In a video posted on X, Rekha Gupta slammed the AAP which ruled Delhi for 10 years before the BJP came to power. She called the previous AAP government "10 saal ki meva khane wali Sarkar", while she termed the ruling BJP government as "100 din ki seva karne wali sarkar." The AAP criticised the BJP government in Delhi, saying, "100 days of destruction by the BJP government is just a trailer, the full picture of the BJP's 'destruction model' is yet to come," the AAP posted on X. On Friday, Delhi Congress President Devender Yadav criticised the BJP-led government in the city for failing to deliver on key election promises and for the 'deteriorating' law and order of the national capital. Yadav said that it is the party's "duty" to question the pain faced by the people of Delhi as the BJP-led government completes 100 days here.

BJP MP Baijayant Panda leads Group 1 delegation to meet Indian Ambassador in Algeria

Algiers [Algeria], May 31 (ANI): Group 1 of the all-party Indian parliamentary delegation, led by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Baijayant Panda, met with India's Ambassador to Algeria, Dr Swati Vijay Kulkarni, as part of their diplomatic visit to the country. The delegation arrived in Algeria on May 30 and is scheduled to depart on June 2. The visit comes in the aftermath of the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir, which claimed 26 lives, including that of a foreign tourist. The Group 1 delegation, led by Baijayant Jay Panda, Member of Parliament and former Minister, includes senior parliamentarians and officials such as Dr. Nishikant Dubey, S. Phangnon Konyak, Rekha Sharma, Asaduddin Owaisi, Satnam Singh Sandhu, Ghulam Nabi Azad, and former Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla. This leg of the diplomatic outreach follows earlier visits to Bahrain, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia, as part of Operation Sindoor--India's global initiative to counter terrorism and mobilise international support in the wake of the Pahalgam attack. According to the Embassy of India in Algiers, the delegation will focus on countering cross-border terrorism, with special emphasis on Pakistan-sponsored terrorism, and aims to deepen bilateral and multilateral cooperation between India and Algeria on counter-terrorism intelligence and strategy. Before arriving in Algeria, the delegation spent two days in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where they held extensive discussions with senior government officials, policy think tanks, media representatives, and the Indian diaspora. Baijayant Jay Panda told ANI that the talks were open and candid, particularly on the challenge of terrorism. 'Saudi Arabia has a policy of zero tolerance towards terrorism, like us. Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Saudi Arabia following the Pahalgam attack and the joint statement by both governments made it clear that there is no tolerance for any kind of terrorism,' Panda said. He also highlighted the strengthening ties between India and Saudi Arabia in defence, counterterrorism, and trade, describing Saudi Arabia as a major regional power. The delegation also visited Diriyah, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its traditional mud-brick architecture. The visit is part of India's broader Operation Sindoor, launched on May 7 to target terror camps linked to multiple terror groups following the Pahalgam attack. The parliamentary delegation's mission underscores India's firm resolve to combat terrorism in all its forms and manifestations and build stronger international partnerships to address this global menace. Colombia's U-Turn On Pak Deaths, Day After Shashi Tharoor's "Disappointment"

New Delhi: Colombia is scheduled to issue a statement in strong support of India's position on terror, in a pivot from the South American country's condolences for the deaths in Pakistan after India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7. Leading an all-party delegation visit to Colombia, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor said, "They have withdrawn their statement that disappointed us earlier and will issue a statement of strong support for our position." This comes a day after he raised concern over Colombia's stance and said New Delhi was disappointed by it. Former Indian Ambassador to the United States and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Taranjit Singh Sandhu said that the delegation's detailed explanation helped reverse the Colombian stance. "This morning we had a detailed interaction with the acting Foreign Minister and our leader and the entire team made specific points to them explaining to them the timeline which perhaps to an extent they might have missed out. The importance of Colombia, apart from other reasons, is also that it will be a member of the Security Council soon," Mr Sandhu told ANI. An equally positive meeting followed at the Colombian Congress (National Assembly) with Alejandro Toro, President of the Second Commission of the Chamber of Representatives (the equivalent of our Foreign Affairs Committee) and Jaime Raul Salamanca, President of the Chamber of… — Shashi Tharoor (@ShashiTharoor) May 30, 2025 Colombia's Vice Foreign Minister Rosa Yolanda Villavicencio said, "We are very confident that with the explanation that we received today and the detailed information that we now have regarding the real situation, the conflict, and what happened in Kashmir, we can also continue the dialogue." Responding to Colombia's statement on Friday, Mr Tharoor had emphasised that there can no equivalence between those who dispatch terrorists and those who defend themselves. The Thiruvananthapuram MP reiterated that New Delhi has concrete proof that Pakistan-sponsored terror was behind the April 22 Pahalgam attack in which 26 civilians were massacred. "We are only exercising our right of self-defence. Just as Colombia has endured many terror attacks, so have we in India. We have endured a very large number of attacks for almost four decades, " he said. The delegation led by Mr Tharoor arrived in Colombia on Thursday after visiting Panama and Guyana. During the course of their stay in Bogota, the delegation will be interacting with the Members of Congress, Ministers and other key interlocutors in think tanks and media. The delegation includes Sarfraz Ahmad (Jharkhand Mukti Morcha), G M Harish Balayogi (Telugu Desam Party), Shashank Mani Tripathi (BJP), Bhubaneswar Kalita (BJP), Milind Deora (Shiv Sena), Tejasvi Surya (BJP), and former ambassador of India to US Taranjit Singh Sandhu. The group is one of the seven multi-party delegations India has tasked to visit 33 global capitals to reach out to the international community after the Pahalgam terror attack. Tensions between India and Pakistan escalated after the Pahalgam attack, which claimed 26 lives. India carried out precision strikes on terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir in the early hours of May 7, following which Pakistan attempted to attack Indian military bases on May 8, 9, and 10. The Indian side responded strongly to the Pakistani actions. The on-ground hostilities ended with an understanding of stopping the military actions following talks between the directors general of military operations of both sides on May 10.

BJP leader admits downing of five Indian jets

Listen to article Subramanian Swamy, a senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, has admitted that Pakistan downed five Indian fighter jets, including Rafale aircraft, during the four-day military confrontation between the two neighbouring countries earlier this month. Swamy, a known critic of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, fired a broadside against his own party's government, denouncing the failure of the authorities in apprehending the perpetrators of April 22 Pahalgam attack in which 26 tourists were killed. Tensions between the two countries escalated after the attack in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) tourist resort. It turned into a full scale military confrontation, when India fired missiles at mosques and civilian targets in six Pakistani cities in the wee hours of May 7. The Pakistan Air Force (PAF) was swift to respond to Indian aggression, downing six enemy aircraft. On May 10, Pakistan launched operation Bunaynum Marsoos, hitting dozens of Indian military targets and forcing New Delhi to request for the ceasefire, which Pakistan accepted. Though the international media confirmed that Pakistan had shot down Indian warplanes, including its prized Rafales, but the Indian government kept mum to officially concede to the Pakistan's claims. Swamy is the first senior BJP leader to finally admit that Pakistani was right. "Pakistan shot down five of our aircraft using Chinese fighter jets. Their performance was commendable, whereas our French Rafale jets were underwhelming," Swamy said, while speaking on a podcast. "Insufficient," he replied, when asked about the French-made Rafale jets. Swamy also levelled serious allegations regarding the controversial Rafale deal, claiming that there was widespread corruption in the procurement process. "This will never be investigated as long as Modi is the prime minister, because he won't allow it," he asserted. Swamy denounced the Indian government's failure in apprehending those, who perpetrated "a grave crime" in Pahalgam. "We should have avenged it, but we failed to do so," lamented Swamy, who served in the Rajya Sabha – upper house of Indian parliament – from 2016 to 2022. In response to another question about Modi's public rapport with US President Donald Trump, he dismissed the relationship as "superficial". He said: "Modi is a master manipulator, deceiving the public. But Indians living abroad know the truth — he has no real stature in USA. He is, in essence, a servant." Swamy also accused Modi of caving under international pressure during the crisis. "The United States asked for a ceasefire, and you submitted. Who authorised that decision? Was it the military? No. It was your fear of the United States, and especially Donald Trump. Modi's cowardice has been exposed." He repeated his call for Modi's resignation. "We need a new course of action in the coming months," he said. "Modi must step down. He has failed to uphold the founding principles of our republic so he has to go. It's not just my opinion — many others agree, though they are afraid to say it publicly," he added.

'Their Handlers In Pakistan...' BJP's Ravi Shankar Prasad Slams Anti-India Slogans In Copenhagen

Last Updated: The BJP MP, while terming Pakistan 'desperate', said the country should be 'ignored with impunity' Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Ravi Shankar Prasad on Friday termed Pakistani nationals raising anti-India slogans outside a venue hosting an Indian parliamentary delegation in Copenhagen 'desperate" and advised people to 'ignore them with impunity". Prasad, in his address to the Indian diaspora, said the disruption seems to have been caused by those who were rattled by the wide coverage that India's global outreach programme to convey the country's firm stance against terrorism was receiving. 'I was very surprised to see Pakistanis here raising slogans. Our programme is going very well, we are getting wide coverage. Their handlers in Pakistan must have told them to do something. They have come here in desperation. Pakistan is a desperate country that lives in desperation. Ignore them with impunity," Prasad said.
