People Are Having Absolute Meltdowns Over Sesame Street's Pride Message
Happy Pride! My timeline is full of Pride messages from a TON of different people/organizations. We have Nancy Sinatra sharing a gay boot. The MLB sharing a rainbow flag. And just about every football team celebrating with their own inclusive message. Sesame Street sent out their own message, and that message is going super viral. Here it is: As expected, the replies are ALL over the place. There's the usual "groomer" thing. We've got "Leave the kids alone. Sickening." And this person brought up a classic: "When is straight month?" It's exhausting. But then there are a TON of people celebrating the message. "Shoutout to sesame street for raising me to be empathetic and caring towards everyone," this person said. "Sesame Street continues to be awesome," another person commented. And this person celebrated how Sesame Street does this every year, regardless of the backlash, "I love that Sesame Street stays unbothered and does a pride post every year. i mean bert and ernie HELLO?" Ultimately, people are like, READ THE DAMN MESSAGE. Like, seriously, read the tweet. "People are mad at Sesame Street for... teaching kids to accept others?" one person asked. Another person said, "To no surprise Big bird and friends worded it the best!" And this person said, "Good on sesame street for posting this knowing the absolute sewage leak that would explode in the replies."

Mass. AG sues Trump administration over cuts to scientific research
Massachusetts Attorney General Andrea Campbell is suing President Donald Trump's administration in an attempt to stop funding cuts for scientific research. Campbell and 15 other state attorneys general filed the lawsuit seeking to block the cuts to the National Science Foundation, which has provided federal funding for science and technology research since its creation in 1950. The Trump administration has been introducing cuts and funding caps, particularly targeting programs it views as related to diversity, equity and inclusion. 'Massachusetts is home to world-renowned scientific research institutions that not only drive innovative solutions to our world's most pressing challenges, but also ensure our nation maintains its global, scientific leadership,' Campbell said in a statement on Wednesday. 'I will continue to hold the Trump Administration accountable for the unlawful attacks on STEM funding, which jeopardize Massachusetts and this entire country's public health, economy and national security.' According to the lawsuit, dozens of projects seeking to increase diversity in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) have been terminated since April 18. The federal government has also capped 'indirect costs' of research projects, which typically fund laboratory space, equipment and other facilities, at 15%, a level the lawsuit called 'arbitrary.' The lawsuit argues the cap would jeopardize millions of dollars in research that supports national security, the economy and public health. Federal courts have already blocked the administration's similar caps on indirect costs for projects funded by the National Institutes of Health and the Department of Energy. Campbell has signed onto another lawsuit with other state attorneys general to block these caps. The lawsuit says the NSF directives are illegal and unconstitutional because they change the agency's policies without regard for how Congress, which appropriates government funds, intends for it to run. Netflix Strikes Deal to Stream Sesame Street as U.S. Funding for PBS Ends
Sesame Street is set to debut on Netflix later this year following major shifts in U.S. public broadcasting policy. The beloved children's show, a staple of educational programming for over five decades, will stream a new season and 90 hours of past episodes to Netflix's 300 million global subscribers. The move comes in the wake of President Donald Trump's executive order to block federal funding for PBS (Public Broadcasting Service) and NPR (National Public Radio), citing concerns of "biased and partisan news coverage." As a result, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting announced the termination of a federal initiative that funded children's programs—including Sesame Street. Facing uncertainty after Warner Bros. Discovery, parent company of HBO, declined to renew its deal with the show, Sesame Workshop—the nonprofit behind the series—turned to Netflix to secure its future. Under the new arrangement, PBS will retain same-day broadcast access to episodes that premiere on Netflix, ensuring the program remains free for American households. Netflix called Sesame Street a 'beloved cornerstone of children's media,' emphasizing its role in early childhood learning. The streaming giant has been expanding its children's programming slate, which now accounts for 15% of total viewing time on the platform. In addition to Sesame Street, Netflix also announced upcoming episodes of Peppa Pig and a new mobile game featuring coloring activities and puzzles. Since its debut on November 10, 1969, Sesame Street has educated and entertained generations of children with its iconic Muppets, urban-themed set, and curriculum-based storytelling. Characters like Big Bird, Elmo, and Cookie Monster have not only become household names but have also engaged with social issues—from promoting healthy eating to discussing public policy. The show's educational mission was born from a collaboration between co-founders Lloyd Morrisett and Joan Ganz Cooney, who worked with child development experts and Muppets creator Jim Henson to revolutionize children's television. With this new deal, Sesame Street enters a new era, ensuring its values of learning, inclusion, and joy will continue to reach audiences in the digital age.
