West Lothian primary school pupil named as finalist in national joke competition
John McGlynn, a primary three pupil at St John Ogilvie Primary School, has been crowned the winner of West Lothian's regional heat in the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists' (RCSLT) VoiceBox competition A West Lothian primary school pupil has turned a good gag into a golden ticket for Holyrood after being named a finalist in a national joke-telling competition. John McGlynn, a primary three pupil at St John Ogilvie RC Primary School, has been crowned the winner of West Lothian's regional heat in the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists' (RCSLT) VoiceBox competition – a national joke-telling contest celebrating the power of communication. With a joke that had judges in stitches, John now heads to the Grand Final at the Scottish Parliament on June 5th, where 32 of Scotland's funniest primary school pupils – one from each local authority – will compete for the title of VoiceBox Champion 2025. John's joke which earned a place in the final, was: 'Why does Scottish Mickey Moose not go in his airplane anymore? Because it Disney land! The event will be hosted by Rt Hon Alison Johnstone MSP, Presiding Officer of the Scottish Parliament, with Zara Janjua, BBC journalist and stand-up comedian, taking the mic as compère. Now in its second year, VoiceBox launched on Blue Monday – the so-called 'saddest day of the year' – with a very different energy, thanks to last year's winners from Cockenzie Primary in East Lothian. Since then, schools across Scotland have been submitting their funniest entries in a joyful celebration of confidence, creativity and communication. John has already secured £100 worth of Collins Big Cat books for their school, and is in the running for other prizes including £500 of books for the winning school; £200 of books for second and third place plus, a £100 toy gift card for the top three finalists. Glenn Carter, Head of RCSLT Scotland, said: 'We're incredibly proud of all the regional winners who've earned a place in the national final. VoiceBox is about much more than making people laugh. 'It's about highlighting the vital role that communication plays in every part of a child's life. Speech, language and communication, skills are the foundation for learning, social connection, mental wellbeing and future employment. 'Yet too many children still struggle without the support they need, often going unnoticed. 'Competitions like VoiceBox show just how powerful a child's voice can be when given a platform and why it's so important that we continue to invest in speech and language therapy to support children's communication. 'These children aren't just telling jokes. They're showing us how the ability to communicate can positively impact confidence, creativity and connection.'

Barstool star Dan Katz left hospitalized with brutally painful health issue
Popular Barstool personality Big Cat had to be hospitalized over the weekend with a major health issue. Barstool Big Cat, whose real name is Dan Katz, took to social media on Sunday to reveal that he had ended up in the emergency room with kidney stones. Katz has since been released, according to ESPN's NFL insider Adam Schefter, who announced the news in an NFL Draft parody post on X Tuesday morning. 'Developing story: Over the weekend, @BarstoolBigCat was hospitalized due to a kidney stone. He since has been released, and with that episode seemingly over, @PFTCommenter is now on the clock,' Schefter wrote. This wasn't the first time that the 40-year-old has been struck down with kidney stones. Last November, he revealed that he had suffered with four. 'I try to p*** one out,' he said of the situation last year on the Barstool Yak podcast. 'Three are small inside my kidney still, that maybe won't f*** me up. One is already on its way out and that's the big boy.' 'I think it's kinda random, it might be stress cause I am really stressed,' he added when asked about the cause. However, he claimed at the time that his trip to hospital hadn't been the worst part of the weekend as his beloved Chicago Bears had lost. His latest incident didn't keep him down for long though, as Katz was released from hospital in time to attend Barstool's 'Bet Gala.' Barstool chief Dave Portnoy hosted a parody of the Met Gala - a fashion spectacular at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York - on Monday night in Scottsdale, Arizona. Katz shared a series of photos of himself in a gambling-inspired suit, which was lined with winning bet slips.

Northbrook OKs cannabis infuser facility that makes THC gummies
A company that makes THC-laced gummies and vape pens has received approval to manufacture in Northbrook, though no products will be sold onsite. Village trustees gave a Skokie company a special use permit earlier this month to operate a cannabis infuser facility in an industrial district in the northwest corner of the village. Cheetah Illinois, LLC, plans to manufacture and distribute resin vape pens and cannabis-infused gummy products, Northbrook senior planner Swati Pandey said in a report to the Village Board. The board voted unanimously to approve the proposal as part of its consent agenda on April 8. Cheetah's Big Cat gummy contains 50mg of live resin, is gluten free and comes in four flavors, including blood orange, mango, watermelon and grape limeade, company officials said. 'Product development lead was (a) former Michelin star chef who brings experience in creating and commercializing high quality and shelf stable retail products,' they said in a 34-page report provided to the Village Board. Cheetah plans to lease 14,549 square feet at 306-310 Era Drive, located in an I-1 restricted industrial district, Pandey said. The property is one of two spaces leased at the site and is currently vacant, she said. 'The subject property would be purchased by 306 Era Drive LLC, and the current and future owner have consented to this use,' Pandey said. 'The applicant has stated that they will not grow any cannabis on the subject property.' All operations will take place inside Cheetah's building, including delivery of supplies and pick-up of products in an existing loading bay accessed through a garage door on the north side of the building, she said. 'There will be no on-site retail sales or cannabis dispensary options at this facility,' Pandey said. Cheetah officials are in the process of obtaining an Illinois infuser license from another company, they said. Production cannot begin until the license is transferred and approved by the Illinois Department of Agriculture. Cheetah plans to operate on the site from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and remain closed on Sundays, the report said. The company plans to hire 15-25 employees, it said. The report outlined high security measures for receiving, handling, storing and processing THC oil. It said day-to-day operations will include: A licensed transporter will deliver THC oil through docks inside the building. Cheetah will document all oil received at the site. The company will store all THC oil in a secured vault. Cheetah will remove the oil from the vault only when it will be infused into its vape pens or gummy products. After infusion, the THC oil will be returned to the secured vault. 'At no point shall Cheetah LLC handle or store any THC oil or other materials outside the building, and Cheetah LLC shall conduct all of its operations within the interior of the building on the property,' the report said. The company will not produce cannabis concentrate to convert into resin, oil or other forms, said Anthony Ochs, an attorney for Cheetah. 'Cheetah will not be processing, growing or manufacturing hard materials,' Ochs said. 'Instead, Cheetah's operations will be to take finished THC oil and put them in products they design like parts of their vape pens or gummies.' The company plans to install security cameras inside and outside the building, Pandey said. The security plan was reviewed and approved by the Northbrook Police Department, she said. The proposal requires 70 parking spaces, including parking for an existing tenant, Pandey said. The property currently contains 77 spaces, she said.

Al Qaeda-inspired terror module: How Jharkhand-based group was planning terror attacks in India
From alleged weapon procurement in Ranchi to receiving physical training at Bulandshahr in Uttar Pradesh and weapons training at Bhiwadi on the Rajasthan-Haryana border, the Special Cell chargesheet has outlined how 11 people from different villages of Ranchi allegedly got together to plan a pan-India terror conspiracy, they added. On Monday, the Special Cell filed a supplementary chargesheet in the case. 'Requisite sanction (under Section) 7 of Explosive Substances Act against accused persons… has been filed by way of supplementary chargesheet,' stated the April 21 order of Additional Sessions Judge Hardeep Kaur of Patiala House Court. 'The same is taken on record and be tagged with main chargesheet… So far as sanction (under Section) 45 of UAPA is concerned, learned Additional Public Prosecutor for state submits that all steps to obtain sanction under Section 45 of UAPA have been taken… but the sanction is still awaited,' ASJ Kaur added. The accused in the case have been identified as Anamul Ansari (32), Shahbaz Ansari (32), Altaf Ansari (35), Hasan Ansari (32), Arshad Khan (26), Umar Farooq (20), Dr Ishtiyaq Ahmad alias Captain (49), Mohd Rizwan (40), Moti-Ur-Rehman (40), Mohd Rahmantulla (30) and Faizan Ahmad (47). Ishtiyaq Ahmad was radicalised in his college days, said police. 'In 2021, he came in contact with a person on Telegram, using the ID 'Big Cat'. They shared the same ideology regarding Jihad and believed that atrocities are being done on Muslims in India and wanted to avenge the same. 'Big Cat' asked Ahmad through chat to prepare more people physically and mentally to fight for Jihad,' the chargesheet alleged, said officers. The Special Cell has relied on the statements of protected witnesses, one of whom had said that they were given 'physical training' by the accused who were preparing youngsters for Jihad, they added. The Special Cell has claimed that the accused would build shelters in secluded places to train young Muslims without being noticed by the police. It added that during the training at Bulandshahr, Ahmad met 'Big Cat' in Delhi and discussed procuring weapons. 'The 'Big Cat' sent an arms dealer to Hazaribagh for a meeting. Accused… finalised the purchase of AK-47 at Rs 5-6 lakh,' it alleged, said officers. According to the officers, the chargesheet has alleged that the accused stayed at a rented accommodation at Bhiwadi on the Rajasthan-Haryana border. On August 21, last year, they went to a nearby forest where they received 'dummy weapon training'. They were arrested a day later, the police said, adding that bullets, hand grenades, pistols, rifles and bomb-making material were found on them. 'Local bombs' prepared by the accused with 'the help of gunpowder' were also found, the officers said.
