Google's Pixel 10 series could be released even later than previously reported

How much of a difference can a few days make for an unannounced and unreleased mobile device (or four)? Well, Google's Pixel 10 quartet of ultra-high-end Android smartphones looked set for an unusually early June or July launch on Saturday, slipping to a far less surprising and familiar-sounding August 13 announcement date by Monday and an even later ETA today. While there's obviously no way to know if the initial rumor about a super-early Pixel 10 series launch (and release) had any credibility, Google apparently did plan to unveil its next big iPhone alternatives on the same date as the Pixel 9 lineup last year, but then revised the entire schedule for unknown reasons. These are more than just educated guesses, mind you, as multiple inside sources have purportedly confirmed the new dates... which doesn't mean they can't be changed again down the line. After all, August 28 is still nearly three whole months away, so Google is almost definitely not done testing the Pixel 10 , Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, and Pixel 10 Pro Fold for software issues and even hardware flaws. The Pixel 10 is now expected to see daylight on August 20. Keep in mind that this is a company that unveiled the Pixel 9a mid-ranger in March without an exact release date, despite almost certainly planning to kick off pre-orders on launch day. Ultimately, Google's cash-strapped fans weren't kept waiting very long for the search giant's latest budget 5G phone, but clearly, similar last-minute delays are also possible for the Pixel 10 family. Hopefully, though, Big G will be able to release all Pixel 10 variants at the same time, which was unfortunately not possible for the Pixel 9 quartet last year. While the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro XL started shipping just nine days after their August 13 announcement, the compact Pixel 9 Pro powerhouse and the Pixel 9 Pro Fold only went on sale in September 2024, disappointing a lot of eager early buyers. Before marking the revised August 20 pre-order and August 28 release dates in your calendar... apps, I'm pretty sure many of you would like to know if Google's 2025 Android high-enders are worth the wait. Believe it or not, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold could prove to be a very smart buy, at least compared to some of the competition for the best foldable title this year, if its starting price is indeed $1,600. That's clearly not what I'd call affordable... by conventional high-end smartphone standards, but for a state-of-the-art book-style foldable device, it wouldn't be half bad, undercutting last year's Pixel 9 Pro Fold and Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 and presumably this year's Galaxy Z Fold 7 as well. The Pixel 10 Pro Fold could be cheaper than the Pixel 9 Pro Fold it so strongly resembles. Of course, that's just an early and impossible-to-verify rumor, as are the $799, $999, and $1,199 price points of the Pixel 10 , Pixel 10 Pro , and Pixel 10 Pro XL respectively in their entry-level configurations. If they prove accurate, those numbers would put the Pixel 10 and Pixel 10 Pro in line with their predecessors while oddly enough making the Pixel 10 Pro XL $100 costlier than the Pixel 9 Pro XL in its most affordable variant. The entire Pixel 10 family, remember, looks very similar to the Pixel 9 series in all those leaked renders from the last couple of months, and in the absence of many substantial under-the-hood upgrades, it will certainly be difficult for Google to justify any price hike. But again, nothing is etched in stone just yet, and that includes the newly rumored August 20 announcement and August 28 release dates.

Tokyo's latest Godzilla art exhibition is a roaring tribute to the 70-year-old icon

Seventy years after the King of the Monsters first emerged from the depths of the Pacific, Godzilla returns to Tokyo by way of a sweeping, boundary-defying art exhibition at the Mori Arts Center Gallery. Running until June 29, ' Godzilla The Art Exhibition ' marks the fifth instalment of the celebrated Godzilla: The Art series and one of the most ambitious artistic reinterpretations of the cinematic icon to date. The exhibition employs contemporary art to showcase Godzilla as a mirror for modern anxieties, a symbol of cyclical destruction and rebirth, and an evolving artistic archetype capable of speaking across media, cultures and generations. It's also an absolute blast, providing a monster-sized serving of material for die-hard Big G fans and lizard laypeople alike to geek out over. Art beyond the silver screen Ever since making its first cinematic appearance in 1954, Godzilla has loomed large as a vessel for cultural and historical tensions. Born from the trauma of nuclear warfare and inspired by the real-world fallout of hydrogen bomb testing, the irradiated lizard initially symbolised Japan's post-war fears. But over time, this figure has taken on new shapes: protector, anti-hero, metaphor for environmental catastrophe. 'Godzilla The Art Exhibition' makes it clear that there's no single answer to the question of what its protagonist is. The artwork on display interprets Godzilla as a dynamic cultural phenomenon, refracted through the personal lenses of more than 25 artists from Japan and abroad. Luminaries such as Tadanori Yokoo, Sachiko Kazama, Kikuji Kawada, TokyoBuild, Pex Pitakpong and actor-artist Tadanobu Asano contribute original works spanning sculpture, painting, photography, diorama, performance and beyond. An immersive destruction The exhibition's design, executed by the creative team Cekai – known for their work with everything from the Olympics to kids' TV – is nothing if not experiential. Upon entry, visitors are thrust into an environment that feels as if Godzilla has already laid waste to it. Cracked walls, shattered floor tiles and spatial ruptures evoke a sense of cinematic devastation, lending the monster's legendary presence physical form. The exhibition unfolds across thematic chapters. 'A Collection of the Modern' explores Godzilla as a repository for the fears, desires and dissonances of the modern era. Artworks here evoke both chaos and cohesion, with bold posters, collages and paintings that challenge conventional aesthetics and reflect society's fragmented psyche. In 'Images and the Eternal Roar', the exhibition delves into Godzilla's visual legacy. Sachiko Kazama's intricate woodblock prints channel the monster's destructive force and historical resonance, while Kikuji Kawada's abstract photography captures a spectral Godzilla that lives on in collective memory. These works underscore how Godzilla's image, despite having been reproduced endlessly, still retains power and relevance. Among the centrepieces of the exhibition is a diorama crafted by Toho Eizo Bijutsu, exclusive to this venue, and a specially produced video installation. Godzilla as cultural compass For curator Qiuyu Jin, the goal is not to offer a definitive portrait of Godzilla, but to open a space for discovery and dialogue. In her words, today's art world is a 'maze with no beginning or end', where meaning is found through individual engagement. In this sense, Godzilla becomes a guiding force through which contemporary audiences can navigate themes of fear, transformation and resilience. TokyoBuild's contributions further blur the lines between urban architecture, fantasy and artistic reinterpretation, incorporating special-effects aesthetics that trace their roots back to Godzilla's film heritage. In these works, the artist collaborated with Toho Eizo Bijutsu, using the visual language of special effects to precisely depict the boundary between fiction and reality. Details such as the proportions of urban structures, the expression of aging, and the use of different materials for each scale are achieved with a keen eye for observation and a level of technical mastery usually seen in the production of architectural models. A living, atomic-breathing legend As 'Godzilla The Art Exhibition' powerfully demonstrates, Godzilla is both a monster and a medium. Its roar echoes not only in cinemas, but in the hearts of artists who continue to shape its image for new times and new audiences. Whether you're a cinephile, a fine art enthusiast, or simply an acolyte of the world's most iconic movie monster, this exhibition offers an unmissable chance to encounter Godzilla as a living, mutating symbol. In doing so, it invites us to ask what Godzilla is – and what it might become next.

But do you trust Google right now? This is the key question. It's almost Google I/O time – the Big G's forum is scheduled for May 20 and 21 (precisely a week from now)!I can already tell you what it's going to be about: AI, some more AI and then, even more AI. Did I mention that Google's conference is going to be about artificial intelligence? Don't act surprised: this was the case at Google I/O 2024. Today, Big Tech people are even more obsessed with the AI aside, The Information has got some information that in the lead-up to its I/O developer conference, Google has been showcasing a range of upcoming tools to employees and external developers. Among those, there's allegedly a new AI assistant aimed at software referred to as the "software development lifecycle agent", the tool is designed to assist engineers throughout every phase of development, from managing tasks to generating documentation. People familiar with the demos say the AI acts like a constant teammate, capable of spotting bugs and flagging security issues. It's still unclear how soon this feature might be made publicly available, but we could get a sneak peek at the upcoming I/O yesterday we told you that Google is testing a new feature that turns the Search app into Reddit , sort of. There could be a comment section appearing in the mobile version of Google Search, where users can post, reply, and vote on comments. This feature currently shows up for sports-related queries, such as "team vs team" move appears to be part of Google's broader effort to keep users engaged with Search, amid growing competition from AI platforms like ChatGPT and its own Gemini. There are reports of declining search activity on Apple devices and Google may be looking for new ways to retain user other than Apple's services chief Eddy Cue suggested that artificial intelligence could make traditional search engines obsolete by 2035. He noted that Google search activity on Apple devices had already declined in April – its first-ever drop! – due to rising AI usage, arguing that this shift could naturally reduce Google's influence over you probably know, Apple gets paid $20 billion a year by Google to make its platform the default search engine on Apple devices – and that deal faces scrutiny from the US Department of Justice. The DOJ sees this as evidence of Google's dominance in search and is pushing to dismantle such arrangements as part of its broader antitrust case.

Godzilla x Kong: Supernova announced – but can the sequel fix what fans hated?

Kaiju fans, brace yourselves because the next chapter in the Monsterverse saga officially has a name, and it is fiery. Legendary Pictures just revealed that Godzilla x Kong: Supernova is on its way, with an exclusive theatre release date set for March 26, 2026. Or wait, was it 2027? There is already chaos in the timeline, as fans spotted a conflicting date of March 26, 2027 in a cheeky tweet by the official account. Please stand by. Your call is very important to us.#GodzillaXKong: Supernova | Now in production. Only in theaters March 26, 2027 Report a Titan Sighting. Call (240) MON-ARCH The Titans are back, and so are the internet's hot takes Directed by Grant Sputore, known for the sci-fi gem I Am Mother, this sequel is still very much in production. But the hype machine is already in full swing. The official Godzilla x Kong page on X (yes, formerly Twitter, we know, cringe) dropped a cryptic message: 'Please stand by. Your call is very important to us.' It also came with a phone number, yes, really, inviting fans to report a Titan sighting. Fan reactions: More roars, less bores? Of course, the fans wasted no time sliding into comment sections with raw, unfiltered energy. One long-time Godzilla enthusiast made it clear: they are only hyped if Big G gets the screen time he deserves. Others practically begged the studio not to fumble the script, with someone straight-up saying that the writing better not be trash this time. Many seem haunted by memories of Godzilla being sidelined in the previous film. New faces, old monsters, and a world on the brink Godzilla x Kong: Supernova will throw fresh human characters into the mix, all while the Titans (yes, Godzilla and Kong, our giant angry boys) deal with a looming world-ending catastrophe. Basically, it is going to be chaotic, dramatic, and hopefully epic. Godzilla x Kong: Supernova star cast The cast lineup is actually stacked: Kaitlyn Dever, Jack O'Connell, Delroy Lindo, Matthew Modine, Alycia Debnam-Carey, and Sam Neill are all on board. Oh, and Dan Stevens is back as Trapper Beasley, the monster vet from The New Empire, aka the Monsterverse's highest-grossing film so far. The screenplay is penned by Dave Callaham, the genius behind Shang-Chi, so fingers crossed the dialogue will slay this time. And yes, the Monsterverse continues to spread like Godzilla fan theories, with Netflix's Skull Island and Apple TV's Monarch: Legacy of Monsters already expanding the universe. So, what now? Well, keep your calendars messy for 2027, the Titans are coming, and they are coming loud. Just pray the plot does not get buried under buildings again.
