Beyoncé Jokes She Was ‘Sittin' Sidewayz' When Flying Car Malfunctioned During Cowboy Carter Tour Stop

Beyoncé handled her flying car's technical mishap during her recent Cowboy Carter Tour stop like a pro, and is playing it off with a spot-on song. She posted a tour reel on Instagram Monday (June 30) from the June 28-dated tour stop in her Houston hometown, when the suspended red convertible began slanting in the air while she was singing '16 Carriages' at NRG Stadium. The superstar stopped mid-performance to say 'Stop. Stop. Stop. Stop. Stop.' before being safely lowered to the ground and hopping out of the whip. While she quipped with the crowd that night, 'If ever I fall, I know y'all will catch me,' she still had one more joke up her bedazzled sleeve. Released as the first single from Wall's sophomore album The Peoples Champ, 'Sittin Sidewayz' reached No. 93 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 24 on Hot Rap Songs. Parkwood Entertainment released a statement about the incident after the concert on Sunday morning (June 29). 'Tonight in Houston, at NRG Stadium, a technical mishap caused the flying car, a prop Beyonce uses to circle the stadium, and see her fans up close, to tilt. She was quickly lowered and no one was injured. The show continued without incident,' Parkwood wrote in a since-expired Instagram Story. Beyoncé is slated to perform at Northwest Stadium in Landover, Maryland next on Friday, July 4 and Monday, July 7. Beyoncé's flying car malfunctions mid-air at Cowboy Carter show

A frightening moment for Beyoncé during Saturday night's Cowboy Carter show at the singer's hometown of Houston, Texas. Towards the end of the show, the singer is suspended in the air in a flying Cadillac as she sings her hit '16 Carriages,' from the 2024 album 'Cowboy Carter.' The red car carries her around the stadium and allows fans in further seats to get an up-close look at the superstar. However, the apparatus carrying her and the car malfunctioned at NRG Stadium, leading to a very scary moment. The car began to slowly tilt and after a little while, it got too uncomfortable for the Queen Bey's liking. 'Stop, stop, stop, stop, stop,' she calmly told her crew as fans gasped. As she was slowly lowered down, Beyoncé kept her cool and continued to smile. 'Thank you for your patience,' she told the crowd without breaking a sweat. She was lowered down to safety without incident and then later appeared back onstage. 'If ever I fall, I know y'all would catch me,' she explained to her fans known as the BeyHive. While the ordeal was frightening, Beyoncé managed to have a sense of humor about it all. Her social media team posted a carousel of photos on her Instagram page Saturday night, which included a snap of the tilted car. Being from Texas, her team paid homage to the region's car and hip-hop culture by making a video montage of the incident while Paul Wall's 'Sittin' Sidewayz' featuring Big Pokey played in the background. The caption appropriately said 'Sittin' Sidewayz.' During Sunday night's show in H-Town, fan social media accounts reported that the singer ditched the flying car and performed a shortened version of the song before going into the final song of the show, which is 'Amen.' Beyoncé's next show will take place on July 4 in Washington, D.C. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten, or redistributed.
