ESPN lists Wisconsin running back as second-year breakout candidate
🚨 The second-year players we're predicting will break out in the 2025 college football seasonNew for @ESPNCFB we look at which players are ready to make the leap in year two 👇
The Wisconsin Badgers have had their fair share of players named as breakout candidates throughout the offseason. Among the most notable: running back Dilin Jones.
Specifically, Jones recently made ESPN's Billy Tucker's list of 11 second-year breakout candidates in college football for the upcoming season.
Jones had a quiet freshman year, totaling 88 yards on 16 carries. His best game came at home against Purdue, during which he had seven carries for 65 yards. Now entering 2025, Jones has been one of the most impressive players in Wisconsin's training camp. That makes him an intriguing breakout candidate for this fall. Jones will likely claim the starting role in a Wisconsin running back room with a lot of depth, which proves how talented and Big Ten-ready he is.
If both the offensive line and Jones can stay healthy, expect a big year out of the sophomore running back from Laurel, Maryland.
