Savills brings opportunity to tender for Biggar Public Park long leasehold to market
The 1.47 hectare site is home to a touring caravan park developed for 83 caravan pitches, with provision for a maximum of six tent pitches.
International real estate advisor Savills has been appointed by South Lanarkshire Council on its search for a suitable operator for the long leasehold of the caravan park and recreational facilities at Biggar Public Park.
Biggar Public Park, which was first established in 1906, is situated to the south of the historic town, in close proximity to both Edinburgh and Glasgow.
The 1.47 hectare site is home to a touring caravan park developed for 83 caravan pitches, with provision for a maximum of six tent pitches.
As well as the pitches, there are shower facilities within the adjacent golf clubhouse and a portable building, which also provides laundry facilities. The property benefits from a residential bungalow with permitted occupancy for a site manager.
A future operator may wish to upgrade the site infrastructure and facilities before reopening the touring caravan park. Savills say that the local Authority is willing to contribute up to £170,000 towards these improvements.
Over the years, the property has been developed to also facilitate a variety of recreational activities, including a boating pond, two tarmac tennis courts, putting green, children's play area and a network of paths for visitors.
