The 1.47 hectare site is home to a touring caravan park developed for 83 caravan pitches, with provision for a maximum of six tent pitches.
International real estate advisor Savills has been appointed by South Lanarkshire Council on its search for a suitable operator for the long leasehold of the caravan park and recreational facilities at Biggar Public Park.
Biggar Public Park, which was first established in 1906, is situated to the south of the historic town, in close proximity to both Edinburgh and Glasgow.

The 1.47 hectare site is home to a touring caravan park developed for 83 caravan pitches, with provision for a maximum of six tent pitches.

As well as the pitches, there are shower facilities within the adjacent golf clubhouse and a portable building, which also provides laundry facilities. The property benefits from a residential bungalow with permitted occupancy for a site manager.
A future operator may wish to upgrade the site infrastructure and facilities before reopening the touring caravan park. Savills say that the local Authority is willing to contribute up to £170,000 towards these improvements.
Over the years, the property has been developed to also facilitate a variety of recreational activities, including a boating pond, two tarmac tennis courts, putting green, children's play area and a network of paths for visitors.
Richard Prestwich, director in the leisure and trade related team at Savills, said: 'Biggar Public Park benefits from an excellent location with far-reaching views of the surrounding hills and both Edinburgh and Glasgow are readily accessible.
'With offers now invited for the long leasehold interest, we anticipate high levels of demand from prospective buyers eager to secure such a unique property with unlocked potential. It's ideally suited to meet the growing demand for authentic outdoor experiences, this campsite offers a perfect blend of natural beauty and essential amenities.'

Biggar, a charming market town on the A72 Clyde Valley Tourist Route, is South Lanarkshire's gateway to the Borders. Nestled among rolling hills with stunning views of Tinto Hill, Biggar boasts a rich medieval history and vibrant main street filled with award-winning shops, bakeries and florists.
Visitors can explore the Biggar and Upper Clydesdale Museum, the unique Biggar Gasworks Museum, and Scotland's only permanent puppet theatre. With scenic walks, historic trails, and a thriving community, Biggar offers a perfect blend of natural beauty, cultural heritage and modern amenities, making it an attractive destination for investors and tourists alike.

ScotRail 'fixing' AI train announcer after artist claimed it was her voice

Gayanne Potter claimed the publicly-owned rail operator based its AI announcer - known as Iona - on recordings she made in 2021. ScotRail is addressing issues with an AI train announcer following allegations it used a woman's voice without consent, the First Minister has announced. John Swinney acknowledged there had been some "controversy" surrounding the matter after Scottish voiceover artist Gayanne Potter claimed the state-owned rail service modelled its AI announcer – known as Iona – on recordings she made in 2021. ‌ ‌ The subject was brought up during First Minister's Questions at Holyrood, where Scottish Conservative MSP Dr Sandesh Gulhane questioned if this reflects the Scottish Government's support for actors since ScotRail came under public ownership in 2022. Dr Gulhane continued to press Mr Swinney on the issue after Ms Potter, in a widely circulated Facebook post, accused ScotRail of ignoring her concerns. She alleged that Iona's voice originated from voice data held by Swedish company ReadSpeaker, for whom she recorded in 2021, claiming that their use of her voice in an AI model breached the terms of her contract with them. Ms Potter expressed her "distress" upon learning that Scotland had "installed the ReadSpeaker model 'Iona' that contains my biometric voice data as their new announcer on all their trains". She emphasised: "I did not know. I was not asked. I did not consent." Mr Swinney assured that he is "sure" ScotRail will "engage constructively with all concerned".

Home Bargains brings back 'world's biggest' supersize sweet for £5

The budget store has just the thing for shoppers who love traditional sweets Home Bargains has restocked a £5 product that is sure to delight sweet lovers. As seen on social media, the discount retailer is selling what it is calling the "world's biggest Werther's Original". Showcasing the supersized product online, Home Bargains displayed the product on its shelves, revealing just how large the £4.99 Star Buy is. Home Bargains' Facebook post said: "The world's biggest Werther's Original (we think) is back in stock!" It received hundreds of likes and plenty of comments. ‌ Responding to the post, one shopper said: "Excellent, my little girl bought this for Grandad last year and I so wanted one myself." Another excited viewer wrote: "Omg." ‌ Someone else tagged their friends, writing: "Look at the size of this beast." In return, the friends replied "unreal" and "class". Others thought the newly restocked product would be ideal for Father's Day gifting. Unfortunately, some commenters were disappointed to learn that the product is a novelty tin, which holds traditional sweets inside, not a supersized sweet. One such response read: "It's a tub of them not a big one." A similar reply read: "The thing is it's a plastic container that only has 2 bags inside!!!" The product description on Home Bargains' website states: "Werther's Original Butter Candy novelty shaped tin in traditional sweet wrapper. Filled with 2x 135g bags of Werther's Original butter candies." In more Home Bargains news, the retailer recently introduced Chick-fil-A sauce as a Star Buy, much to the delight of shoppers. A popular video shared by TikTok user Chloé-Ann (@kmaesthetics_) read: "Omg yes!!! Home Bargains giving us the Chick Fil-A sauce". The video was posted on Tuesday (May 27), and it has received more than 880k views and hundreds of comments. The fast food chain is famous for its chicken sandwiches and its own line of sauces that customers can buy in bulk bottles to take home. ‌ According to the American website, the classic Chick-fil-A sauce is "a classic dipping sauce with notes of mustard and a smoky tang." Customers couldn't wait to try the dipping sauce, which was priced at £4.79. Replying to the video, someone said: "I'm running." Another fan replied: "Oh my god !!!! Ours from NYC just ran out ………. Best news all week." A keen shopper wrote: "Omg!!!!! What a bargain. Running there tomorrow." A similar comment read: "Yooo I'm running." Someone else wrote: "I GASPED." Meanwhile, a fan said: "Omg just came back from the US with this I could've saved my suitcase space. It's $3.70 there." While it looks like Home Bargains only has the original variety of the fast food sauce in stock, the brand offers four more versions. These include Barbecue, Honey Mustard, Polynesian, and Garden Ranch.
