Who are Sleep Token? The UK rock band with their first UK number 1

Prior to this weekend the name Sleep Token may not have meant anything to you, but now you'd be hard-pressed not to know the UK rock band sweeping the charts in surprising measures. The UK group have made history with their new album Even in Arcadia, which hit the number one spot in the UK and has topped the US Billboard Chart. Sleep Token have an air of mystery about them perpetuated by the fact they are masked at all times, even when they perform live. Here is everything that you need to know about the group and who they are. Sleep Token officially have two members known as Vessel and II, the group's leader singer and drummer, they are the only two to be given songwriting credits in the band. The group also have a series of touring members, who are also masked on stage and whose identities have remained anonymous. The touring members are known as III (bass guitar), IV (lead guitar and backing vocals), and Espera (backing vocal trio). Sleep Token debuted in 2016 with their first single Thread the Needle, which was followed by their debut album One. The group went on to release a second EP titled Two in July 2017 after they signed with record label Basick Records. The group signed with Universal's Spinefarm records in 2019, and they went on to release their debut full-length album Sundowning in November that year. They have since signed with RCA Records and released albums Take Me Back to Eden before launching Even in Arcadia in May 2025. The group have declared themselves as acolytes to an entity known as Sleep, which is why they are called Sleep Token. The band have spoken often about sharing "His message" with their fans. Sleep Token pride themselves on their anonymity, and have done very few interviews to ensure that their identities remain a mystery. The group's lead singer Vessel spoke with Metal Hammer in May 2017, one of the band's only interviews to date, where he spoke about the reason behind the group's anonymity. "Our identities are unimportant," Vessel told the publication: "Music is marketed on who is or isn't in a band; it's pushed. prodded and moulded into something it isn't. Vessel endeavours to keep the focus on His offerings.' Vessel also said: "How we got here is as irrelevant as who we are – what matters is the music and the message. We are here to serve Sleep and project His message." The publication asked Vessel if he was worried that the band being masked would be seen as a "gimmick" by music fans. To this, Vessel said: "The standard concept of gimmickry is none of our concern. We are here to deliver a message; touch people in their hearts and subconscious minds. Soon, regardless of cynicism, you will all be followers."

Lorde Watched Pamela Anderson & Tommy Lee's Sex Tape After a Psychedelic Trip: ‘I Found It to Be So Beautiful'

Wait, what was that? Lorde made an interesting revelation in her Rolling Stone cover story published Thursday (May 15), revealing that she once watched Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee's famous sex tape after taking psychedelics. In the wide-reaching interview, the New Zealand singer-songwriter opened up about everything from struggling with an eating disorder to dealing with a breakup after a yearslong relationship. One of the ways she ultimately healed after those struggles was through therapeutic psychedelic trips, as referenced in her April single 'What Was That,' on which she sings, 'MDMA in the back garden, blow our pupils up.' But what she saw stuck with her. 'I found it to be so beautiful,' the musician told the publication. 'And maybe it's f–ked up that I watched it, but I saw two people that were so in love with each other, and there was this purity. They were jumping off this big boat … They were like children.' The tape Lorde was referring to was filmed in 1995 on Anderson and Lee's honeymoon, which they celebrated in Mexico after getting married just 96 hours into knowing each other. The intimate footage was later stolen and sold, embroiling the couple — who divorced in 1998 — in scandal. Noting that she watched the entire tape, Lorde said of the exes, 'They were so free.' 'And I just was like, 'Whoa. Being this free comes with danger,'' she added. The interview comes more than a month ahead of Lorde's new album Virgin, which drops June 27. So far, the only taste fans have gotten of the LP has been 'What Was That,' although the musician opened up more about the record — which she describes as visceral and rooted in bodily imagery — in her Rolling Stone interview. 'I think coming more into my body, I came into an understanding of the grotesque nature of it and the glory and all these things,' she explained. '[The album's] right on the edge of gross. I often really tried to hit this kind of gnarliness or grossness. 'You tasted my underwear.' I've never heard that in a song, you know? It felt like the right way to tell this whole chapter.' 'We gonna make sure you take care of this community initiative that I have. And it could be silent or it can be loud, but that's a part of the deal as well.' The DoggFather was asked whether he worries about oversaturating his brand with too many things. 'The way you framing it, with all due respect, is like I'll do anything,' he cotninued. 'I want you to frame it like I'll do anything if I own the brand. That's a big difference. So me marketing and branding for a company — if I don't own it, I ain't f—ing with it.' Most recently, Snoop took a break from his business collaborations to step back into the studio with country singer ERNEST. The pair released their new song 'Gettin Gone' on April 9. The track marks the first release from an upcoming project on Ernest's DeVille Records, which he launched in partnership with Big Loud Records. 'Gettin' Gone' was written by Ernest, Snoop Dogg, Ben Hayslip, Rhett Akins and Mark Holman, with production by Jacob Durrett. Snoop also recently announced his new gospel album Altar Call, which is set for release on April 27. Rihanna Shows Support for A$AP Rocky With Los Angeles Shooting Trial Appearance

Rihanna showed support for her boo A$AP Rocky as she pulled up to the rapper's trial in Los Angeles on Wednesday (Jan. 29). Per legal reporter Meghan Cuniff, Rih was seated between Rocky's mother and sister as the trial in his 2021 felony shooting case continued. She has not been shown on the court's livestream, but there are security guards on both sides of the row. According to Variety, Rih isn't expected to testify in the case. The Harlem rapper previously turned down a final plea deal last week, which would have seen him serve 180 days behind bars. LA County prosecutors recommended three years of probation and a seven-year suspended sentence. Rocky is facing a pair of felony counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm. He can face a maximum of 24 years behind bars if convicted on all charges. The charges stem from an alleged November 2021 altercation that accuses Rocky of firing a weapon at former A$AP affiliate A$AP Relli — born Terrell Ephron — following an argument near a Hollywood hotel. Rocky's lawyer, Joe Tacopina, has maintained that the weapon was a prop gun and not a real firearm, as the rapper shot off blanks to defuse the situation. There is video footage that allegedly shows Rocky holding some sort of a handgun from the night of the shooting. Months after the heated confrontation, the 'Fashion Killa' rapper was arrested in April 2022 at Los Angeles International Airport. Rocky posted a $550,000 bond shortly after the arrest and later pleaded not guilty to all of the charges in August 2022. According to The Associated Press, Ephron took the stand to testify against Rocky on Tuesday (Jan. 28) where he recalled the shooting. 'He turned around and then it was like boom,' Ephron explained to the jury. 'The whole thing was like a movie, he kind of like pointed down and he shot the first shot.' He emphatically declared that it was 'a real gun' in Rocky's hand. 'I was hit. Or I was grazed,' Ephron said. 'I didn't have a hole or nothing.' Relli says his life's 'been a living hell' since the shooting. Wednesday's court session has concluded and the trial will continue on Thursday (Jan. 30), where the defense will have its chance to cross-examine Relli.
